Brother… thanks a million. I have always welded structure always been scared of taking a pipe test. I got a job offer paying 32 dlls an hour so I was watching this video the night before the test. And well you know the rest.. I’m buying some welding caps right now and some FR shirts cause I start Monday. The video helped out brother thanks
Well you just got a fan4life. I've been welding forever 25 years it's been awhile since I ran Mig and flux core filling cap. I've got a fantastic job opportunity this Friday without your video I don't think I would have made it just been so long I kind of forgot. Incredibly professionally done you do a fantastic job thank you thank you thank you and keep up the good work young man you're doing fantastic!!!!!
These videos help a lot hadn’t run wire in 6 years not a clue what to set the machine at for my test today. Watched this video the night before and passed the next day
Just watching your videos helps me learn new techniques in Stick/Flux-core/ Mig. I work as a Structural welder out the field & in the fab-shop, Great videos. Keep up the gd job bro.
I am a gtaw smaw welder in some plants here in saudi arabia with special metal,,i just weld fcaw and mig in plates but when i watched you YOUR THE BEST, GMAW + FCAW IS THE HARDEST TO DO IN PIPES but YOU DID IT WITH EASE.. HIGH SALUTE TO YOU SIR I LEARNED A LOT FROM YOU AND ON YOUR CHANNEL..KEEP IT UP MORE POWER SIR.. GOD BLESS
Now yall can disagree with me, but in my opinion and opinions of the old guys who taught me all my welding skills, I'd NEVER do circles with a fluxcored wire, due to the chance of slag inclusions. I'd do a weave but stay on the front edge of the puddle but not circles where you come back into the puddle.
Justin Hall as long as you’re not over exaggerating and are keeping the with the puddle any movement you do with fluxcore will be fine as the slag stays molten
Honour to have watched this video very good tutorial you have a good way of explaining in detail the process of mig I thoroughly enjoyed watching it nice one bro you definitely no how to lay that metal down
I have a weld test Friday Feb 8 2019. 6g position weld 2 inch 160 wall. I have only use a postioner when using this process. Can I walk to cup in a position weld like you would with a positioner? ? Please help. I have no way of practicing before the test
How would you do the root if the pipe was already tacked with a bigger gap like 3/16 and had no root face? I tried dragging but it's hard and you tend to get whiskers. Plus, do you have any tips on how to tie in on a pipe like that?
@@krs1732 no need to turn the heat down when you see the key hole getting big stop for a second and before the puddle cool down pull the triger and do couple of c's and and repeat the same thing over until youre able to controll with out stopping
Would be good to note the wire size, i assume you’re using 0.35 based on your settings, 0.45 seems to be what companies are using more often. Settings would be a lot different in that case
For the mill 252 , what voltage would you use for a fill pass /w .035 wire .( just use the 17.5 @ 195ish for the hole thing or would you change it ?) 6" sch80 pipe . what would be a good gap size between the 2 pipes
Brother, in the future, you will tell me what the fire and wire speed are, most of the welder can only operate it, but you don't necessarily know about wire speed, thank you please
Excuse me, how much voltage would you give in the root with gmaw in ascending ?, and how much voltage does it give to the filling and finishing in fcaw?
Would this technique be fairly similar for running roots with RMD? I have a pipeline test at the end of next week and i have really never ran wire since school lol. They are giving me 4 days of booth time to get it on lock.
Hi sir , thanks 👍 ,I get idieya how to weld about 6G Poisson's, wire speed and voltage ,root pass and capping ,I have one dwout sir, root pass use that wire speed 195 ok, voltage 17.5, it's ok ,than hotpass useing wire speed 300 and voltage 25,same voltage 25 and wire speed 300 using capping sir?
Hey man I love the videos I’m a big fan of all your work. But I’m in need of you doing a video on a penetration 6gr flux core test, bevel to flat pipe.

17.5v, 195 ipm with .035" solid wire on root pass. 25v, and 300 ipm with .045" fluxcore for fill and cap. It works great. During the root pass, I liked just a smidge more wire feed speed. It helped with the reinforcement on the vertical and overhead.
Ran this test today but on 4in sch 40 I found it pretty hard but that’s probably because I’ve been running duelshield on structural for the last five years not much pipe but I was feeling like Superman because I ran a 2in sch 40 aluminum then stainless then carbon all in GTAW and bent out went to the mig and set the gap at a 1/8 in wit the 3/32 root face

Cory Knowles - Yep as long as that puddle is hot and wet you’ll be fine. Little tiny circles to get coverage is fine.
yeah, that's what I was taught too, a slight weave on uphill, a bit like: (|(|(|(|(|(|(|(|(| - with "(" passing the tip of its arch over "|"
Like he said “Personal preference”
Yea you couldn't step far but as long as that puddles tight you can get away with alot. I do shell sections on rotary kilns. It's all 100% x-ray.
Great video! This really helped my students to see what the puddle should look like as its burning into the root.
I get to use this in my class today. Thanks for the content. Strong lessons.
My coming tradetest is 6gr mig im nervous but when i see this video i feel so confident thanks for your tips and technics

do you have to switch over the wire when you switch to flux

Good video thanks these are getting me through Tulsa Welding School because I am definitely not getting the help I need there

25 v & 300 ws
Definitely a fan of your videos. I'm looking for a very well explained video on RMD,, I figured u can help me out with that
I never grind the root pass before I lay down the flux.
Where did you get that jacket?
Wish I had access to this video 7 years ago for a weld test. Nobody had ever asked me to do a root pass with a wire fed process before and it was 6gR.
That ring really will mess with you got to be on your game to pass that one

Why did you do root pass top to down and not from bottom to top?
