    RMD really shines when welding in a positioner. Our company in Ky purchased the first two 400’s in the entire region. We quickly developed a couple of WPS’s, certified a dozen or so employees, and set up a nice prefab operation centralized around a couple of 400’s. No doubt, the absolute finest machine I’ve ever used, Stick, Tig, dual Mig.

    You adjust the trim until the arc adapts to how you like to weld. When it sizzles, pick up the pace a little. Your pauses on the side are just a tiny bit longer than what your trim is set for. Open up the arc, (raise trim slightly) until the sizzle stops. The goal should be no sizzle. Looking good guys, thanks for demonstrating an incredible machine!

    • @Dangalvan27
      @Dangalvan27 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When hearing the sizzle, it is essentially like welding short circuit right? Trim is so short that the wire is hitting the puddle. With the trim turned up, The arc length is increased and allows the pulsed spray axially shoot a droplet into the puddle instead of the wire directly hitting the puddle. Is that theory correct? Genuine question.

    What was your background arc settings at? You have to hold the left or right gun selector button down for a few seconds, to get the display to change from “arc Length”to “arc”

    Should try it with 0.45 wire 🤔 would like to see it done more than the .35 since most shops where I'm at only use .45

    • @heathen5052
      @heathen5052 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      .045 runs even better with rmd. Can lay down some wire for sure. 3/32 gap and crank it up. 190-225 wire speed. Depending on how you like to weld. It punches through a lot better and not as picky with fit up as lincolns stt is. Lincoln is only limited to 200 wire speed with .045 stt

    Miss welding, it's been over 20 years since I've done anything in welding. All the welding jobs here in the Columbus, Ga area pretty much dried up, and the ones left won't pay more than $10 - $11 an hour.

    First fab shop I was in had Phoenix 456 power source w dual wire feeders. 0.35” short circuit with blue shield 8 for the root & 0.45” Pulsed Mig with blue shield 23 for the fill/ cap.
    They upgraded to Pipe Pros & again to Pipe Worx . Always with dual feeders. They went to flux core for the fill and caps after a while. More forgiving. We rolled everything we could. About 45-55 mins. for a 24” std wall joint using the pulsed mig.

    when your giving these “tutorials” and giving “advice” it always drives me nuts!!! It might just be me being a dick but i want to make mention that the parameters in voltage, wfs, actual travel speed, shielding gases, and fit prep etc etc are all variables that need to be checked and adjusted per the WPS and PQR’S and so forth which employers CAN and DO have that are specific to code and Employer/client.
    All that being said i just think its worth mentioning to your viewers that they should always verify and double check their processes & procedures before just running with these tips. and if they dont understand what all the stuff means tell them to make someone explain it and teach them so they can be more competent and hopefully pass on the knowledge to the next

    Those setting produce a completely erratic arc, nothing but crackling and shit flying everywhere, on all the pipe worx 400 at my shop, same guns, same gas, same wire, people from miller showed up so we could ask them about setting, hey what does this arc length and arc settings do? All they said is it just changes variables, they didnt know what they actually did, just changes things, what complete letdown for such a whats supposed to be a great machine

      Me and the guys i work with found when using the pipeworx 400, that the volt sensing cable that attaches to the back of the wire feeders and the earth clamp, it works 10x smoother if you take it off of the back of the earth clamp and attach it seperately with a croc clip or mole grips👍

      It’s pulsed MiG. The sound it’s coming from the pulse arc. If your 75/25 sounds like that without pulse, you have serious problems!
