    I usually don't make comments on these kind of videos but, Thanks for the encouraging the new welders out there. As a guy with over a decade, I needed something like this back when I first hit the road. I had Jodi from weldingtipsandtricks but he wasn't like you. You can tell that you teach and probably deal with frustration from your students. Keep going bro you really are helping 💯 💪!

  • @kulgreah

    as great as this video is, what he's not showing you:
    - thoroughly clean w/ a wire wheel or grinder between each pass
    -allow the plate to cool some between passes so it doesn't warp too much

    • @waynekoshiway8657
      @waynekoshiway8657 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      WPS sometimes don’t allow wire wheel or a grinder. Be prepared and use a brush and chipping hammer (sharpened).

      @@joejitsucomics2456 backing strip is so the groove isn't open root. You are thinking of "Strong back" plates. The only thing I've waited for cooling is before you do the cap. That way your beads do exactly what you want with the desired penetration, fusion, and visual look of it.

    Wish I had you for an instructor.. Went to Tulsa welding school and that place is straight cookie cutter. Had a quick demo and the instructors would go wonder while you had no idea what you were doing. I've watched a ton of your videos and think "why was I told I HAD to do it that way" when I see you do something that would be more comfortable for me, and still be right. It's been a few years since I got out of the school but it put a bad taste in my mouth about the industry and didn't have the drive to become a welder after. Anyways, watching you teach is making me want to go practice again and get into again for some side projects.

    It's important to remember to let the plates air-cool in between passes. You don't want to keep putting heat in continuously and you absolutely don't water-cool it. A good temp gun is great for an AWS test

      I took my welding test and I have to say, it looked like a machine did it! I was really good back in the day when I did it a lot but its been a while! When it came to the money part, they said my welds were cold! They weren't. Its just your basic tactic to pay less money! I use to do the same thing when I want a boilermaker company. I'm not going to take the job because the pay wasn't right and they don't have insurance! I was amazed at how good my welding looked and ran though! I know on my next test, if I have to mig, I'll be just fine!

    Folks, make note of the lack of arc movement. No weaving, oscillating, whipping or otherwise manipulating of the wrist. That looks like a very good weld, and probably is a very good weld. He has pretty good settings and lets the wire do the work. Good stuff. 350 imp and 28V would be a pretty good "maximum" for parameter settings. He was at 310, or something like that. Very good stuff!!

    I wish you guys would do a cut and etch at the end of your videos! It would be nice to see the welds individual beads internally, and satisfying. Keep up the videos though!

    Where did you buy that welding helmet? I've been welding for yrs and i still like to see videos like this because you can always learn something new. They say we die and never stop learning. Being comfortable when welding is the way to go. The videos are Super, and all newbies should take note.

    I used to use dual flux core and gas at one shop I worked. One day I had to weld a plate to a tube frame, I set up a guide bar, put down my shield and about 10 minutes and 7 or 8 feet later I put it back up. Looked like a machine did it. Make a weld kind of like a 7024 rod only it just keeps going.
