How did I have no idea this soundtrack was so good?! Also, lining up 1P and 2P sprites to fight in unison should be an actual beat-em-up game mechanic. That was so artful.
@@VGear exactly, I mean, the female rangers are actually the same base sprite with cosmetic differences and few different moves, but the base is the same. Don't think would have taken too much to make a single set of a suited female ranger and then just recolor it

No lie as a kid I remember renting this game from blockbuster like every damn month. It wasnt better than the first PR game but the music is so damn good. Ninja Warrior has the same kind of music too
@@fefyfona4318 Natsume has a very distinct style of music and art for their 16-bit games that no one else has used, as far as I know. _Wild_ _Guns_ is another example.
@@hanzlim7198 Seems this game uses the same soundfont as Ninja Warriors Again. The instruments seem a bit lower in fidelity than Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers but that could be to save ROM space so they could use a 1.5MB cartridge instead of the more expensive 2MB the previous game used. I do notice the HUD appears to use a lower color depth too. It looks like they used palette swaps for the Ranger sprites too.
Both SNES MMPR games were like that, Only the Genesis games let the girls use a different character model. Which is really lame because when they are unmorphed in the SNES games they all had their own fighting styles in both games. But Morphed everyone looked the same and fought the same. Genesis Movie game by far is the best of the classic MMPR games IMO anyways lol.
@@Jdogg1022 it was great. Extremely easy and half of the stages are from the tv show, but you get to fight using the Zords and the ost was amazing as well
When I was a kid, one day I was playing this game on my snes with my cousin, we were very bad and we never cleared anything, and then at that time when we were playing my mother bumped into the snes, at that time the game glitched and the 2 of us were with infinite lives, the symbol of life became infinite and we died many times but the lives never ended... That's how we beat it the first time and we were never able to reproduce this glitch again and I've never seen a hint to reproduce it anywhere, I don't think it was ever discovered. if anyone knows anything about this please let me know
I loved to play this game a lot until I got bored of it and the new generation of video consoles were out. I always thought Aisha Campbell had pantyhose (around 140 Denier) instead of leggings. Kimberly Hart's Ranger Mode sprite is just a male generic and what's with Billy Cranston's picture. I also avoided to touch the special move button as I always wanted to Morph fast. It's also funny that after almost 25 years I can still recall the stage villains' names.
Oh boy, such a downgrade from the previous MMPR beat-em-up game... - You have less health, which is 5 pips instead of a much longer gauge. - You need to fill a gauge to morph, as opposed to morphing at the end of the first part of each stage. - You need to fill the gauge a 2nd time to get your weapon... for a limited time. - There was a secret code to already start the game morphed, but it was after clearing Hard Mode (please note that the internet was a thing, back then). - There is no Megazord fight, at all... when the Ninja Megazord and the Falconzord could have been used. - The bosses were glitchy enough to cause a softlock. When people compared that game to the Genesis version, there's no contest.
Tbf it has a kickass soundtrack. And from my experience only Streets of Rage 1+2 have soundtracks worth listening to on Genesis considering the soundchip used.
This game is very hard. When I played it the first time, I couldn't beat the first level. I thought this game was going to be as easy as the first Power Rangers game.

Golly, I have a great explanation of the lazy palette swap, but I feared it's too political (it involves the recent remarks from Supreme Court nominee Jackson). So I'll just say that this game is my childhood, and I found the Magnet Brain boss battle pretty funny.
There's a difference between them? Either way, the bigger shock is this game has a true ending route where you have to use certain characters in certain stages.
Man the music for the first stage is awesome
2nd stage is great too and the final timer stage
Stage 5 is legit 🔥

Still unforgivable how they used male Ranger sprites.
Right, especially since they did such a good job on the unmorphed sprites
