Only one lover, never two loves baby. One is enough and it's driving me crazy. (I touch stars.) Only one lover, never two loves baby. One is enough and it's driving me crazy. (I reach the sky.)
Amaizing that you play some songs and they literally puts You in your childhood. Literally makeing you back in time. You see, smell, hear everything like it was... you are then. Mind blowing. Love those trips to past.
2020. Still loving this song. I cannot decide if I love the song more by itself or if I listen to the song in its place while listening to the entire album, which I love, love, love.
#orbital I remember jamming to this on MTV when I was a teenager. Never could imagine that one day I would be jamming to this music video with my 5yr old son. Cheers!! You guys are amazing
Back in the day ... I listened to this song a lot when I had a huge crush on a woman who wasn't my (8+ yrs) girlfriend. Still takes me back to that weird time. Also, I never watched any electronica videos in the 90s, ever. It's always strange seeing them now. Plus, WTF with 90s Orbital videos. They are just plain strange, period.
First time hearing this i was in a CRX Vtec on the highway with a friend, baked as fuck, and he put this song on for me to hear... it was a special moment for me. Best ambience ever for this song. subs bangin', me flippin in me head and a mate with a big smile because he had done again. Introducing me to greatness and creating something i would never fortget. Thanks teach! memories❤
Hello everybody, and welcome to Wario Is Great, where I talk about electronic music both new and old. I've been subscribed to you for years, yet I never knew about this alt of yours until I spotted it in the wild.
I remember finding that song back on one of my brother his cd's, around end 2001. I could find resemblance in it, because I was so heartbroken about this girl... 😊 you know, school, late teenager things 🙃 All these experiences were actually good for me when I look back at it, because when I write a song, it makes it easier to put the expressions in the right spot 🤫
Does anyone actually know the meaning of this video? it's utter madness but fits the song so well! also, note the lack of dislikes :) I think everyone loves the blue lass :)
It's very possible that the video has many or no meanings at all but I'm going to give it a shot anyway: I believe the video is about people losing their idealism as they get older. If you look closely in the beginning and at the end of the video, we head into a room labeled "lost luggage". Almost as if people lose dreams or parts of themselves throughout the course of their lives. Coincidentally, the thing found in these suitcases is the young woman/girl who seems to be the personified image of water. Water is clear and pure- childlike. It is formless and adaptable- curious. And most importantly, it seems to not be confined to one area; much like how this system of things (the world) confines us to one method of thinking and existing; she does not conform, however. This girl is a reminder of what we have lost during the course of adulthood. Moreover, on the topic of "adulthood", study the elevator scene. After the young man's suitcase bursts open and he becomes drenched in water (it could be argued that this man perhaps has not yet lost his idealism towards the world: his piercings may be indicative of that), the elevator doors open. In that moment FOR A SPLIT SECOND we see a whole bunch of people that seem fine for a moment because their DRY. But this only lasts for a split second because almost immediately they are found WET and have this horrified expression on their faces. I urge you to pause the video as soon as the doors open and notice how they are not wet at first. Anyway, a few moments later the people are waiting in line for elevator, and if one takes the time to observe them, one will notice that they occupy very "adult" positions in life. One of them is a doctor, two of them seem to have an ostentatious sexual relationship and so forth... They reject the "wetness" because they've already become too adjusted to the "adult" way of life- it's harder for them to accept or welcome the child-like purity they once had. Notice how she takes an interest in the dog. I believe this is because the dog still has a "pure" soul, or whatever... If you notice the x-ray, it is imbibed with water because there is clearly a fish inside of it. Towards the end of the video, you'll notice that the two men cram the water girl back into the suitcase, I believe the two men represent a (represive) portion of our psyche that tells us to put away the child within us and grow up. Anyway, I could be wrong but I think this is what the video means. There are many other things I never touched upon such as, the maggot container in the middle of two empty containers, how the girl was imprisoned in the ticket booth, how fast everyone else was moving in the background in one the scenes and the white room with the spiraling suitcases. Not to mention the girl's skeleton in the x-ray and her "falling" during the x-ray scan.
falling looked like serious drugs maybe lsd or the xtc a lot of people were doing back then. or maybe it (falling) symbolizes life and moving through life and time. and standing back from it all and watching the progression.
You'll be happy to know they're not sampled, but performed by Naomi Bedford. "Only one lover, never two loves, baby...one is enough and it's drivin' me crazy." "I touch stars." "I reach the sky."
Nope at a party! Naomi was friends with Phil’s wife. They heard her sing & play guitar at a small get-together & the rest is history (she’s my friend.)
Orbital change the electronic music forever i know for many the box would be their favourite which is great 👍 of course but funny break is a different kind of trip for me i don't have even the words to describe but it is a mix of feelings and a awesome trip
Poor productive working man he's not going to know what hit him, forever. Soon , or long after people will say drink more water and he'll know everyone is the same, and somewhere he went thru a bad portal. His weapons , a mop.if that
Love. And my 3 year old daughter, who gets passed around by the sick Michigan court system, relates to this positivity amongst all the suitcases, etc. Thanks for making her feel loved, empowered, and intelligent as a woman with this video ( and this music, too, of course) but I could bring her just the music ;) jk! xx Love you, Orbital. Thank you.
15 years ago, I had a huge LSD trip listening to this song. It was the best experience of my life ... one is enough.
One is too many, and one hundred is not enough.
Or one is never enough
🙂

Yeah.

FAV !!!!!!
such a sad clip
The Y2K aesthetic is strong on this one.
Very very true
Good tune! Are the vocals sampled? (anyone know where from?) Or recorded by Orbital? Thanks
You'll be happy to know they're not sampled, but performed by Naomi Bedford. "Only one lover, never two loves, baby...one is enough and it's drivin' me crazy." "I touch stars." "I reach the sky."
If my memory serves me correctly, the story is that they discovered her in a pub.
Nope at a party! Naomi was friends with Phil’s wife. They heard her sing & play guitar at a small get-together & the rest is history (she’s my friend.)
