I've known of Destiny for quite some years now, but just recently I've started binging his conversations & debates. I love the sensibility and objectivity that comes from him, and I find myself agreeing with nearly every single argument he makes. I am definitely a left-winger, although I have no problem with calling out leftists and conceding to rational stances that may be typically conservative. Because of this I typically feel politically homeless, so it's nice to see a community with likeminded folks.

The point she made about Islamic majority countries only being theocratic based on their own interpretation of Islam, is misleading. As someone who's born and raised in Jordan (a majority Muslim country) The government for the most part is secular, but they only introduce elements of religion in to the constitution only to appease the Islamic majority. For instance if i were to publicly announce that i'm an apostate, The government's role would be to imprison me, but only to prevent the Muslims from taking the law in to their own hand and murdering me, based on the Islamic teachings "Who ever changes their religion, kill them" - Muhammad. Some governments are desperate to become secular, however the majority being Muslims, it would be a hard sell. In other words, governments are playing a balancing act where they try to conform to international pressure to abide by universal human rights, and local pressure by the Muslim majority to uphold Islamic way of governing. She talks about government as if it's just a few people at the top applying their interpretation of Islam on the masses. When it's actually the people of the country that are pressuring the government to uphold Islamic law.
