Hey Steve, Sam Jossinet here, 1/3rd of the Canadian trio who you met at the red Bothy. Appreciated the conversation we shared here as well as at the Braemar campground. Hope the rest of the challenge went well for you!!

Hello Sam why i have missed your comment i have no idea so apologies. Fantastic to hear from and hope you all had a safe journey and relaxing journey back home to Canada. Really nice meeting you all and spending time on part of your adventure its amazing the people you meet and the stories we share and thats what makes adventures special and you all had a bigger adventure than me coming all this way so hats off to you for that huge effort. I managed fine thanks spent the night camping at the hotel grounds and caught up with some of the people i had met and was such a nice event. Thanks for making my adventure what is was and playing a part in creating many lasting memories.

Hi mate, another couple of lovely days. The red bothy looked amazing, they have done a grand on decking that out. I did chuckle when you said everyone has said they are ‘stinking’ 🤣
When I was on the Cumbria Way I was the same and you get so conscious when you’re up close to people because you know you hum as you can smell it yourself! 🤣🤣
    All the best
    Dave

couldn't of been worse than the local drunk i saw, who stank of piss because he was so drunk that he couldn't get up. So he kept wetting himself!

Cheers Dave, it was a nice place indeed and a fantastic job with the history preserved. Just for the record i didn't go round smelling folk haha but i could definitely smell myself due to all the sweat and long hot days so i was pretty glad of a shower lol. Its probably something we dismiss is being out in the sun with no shade etc so could have been a different story for someone else with less knowledge of medical issues. The Cumbria way looks great to do.

Hi! Enjoying you Challenge so far, good to see you are too. Just one little note, the tea, coffee and biscuits at Mar Lodge are laid on by the ranger there, Ben Dolphin, (of Benvironment fame, blog, FB, Twitter and columnist) on behalf of the National Trust for Scotland. Tarfside is where the hostel is run by Challenge volunteers during the Challenge 😉
Off to watch the rest of your Challenge now!

Hello Louise, well thank you for watching i appreciate that. Thanks for the correction on the Tea's they done a fab job and was a lovely stop to rest the feet and catch up with fellow TGO Challengers. I did stop at Tarfside to and that was very appreciative of the tea, bacon roll and other goodies available to boost moral in the pouring rain. Hope you manage to catch more of the adventures and hope you get something from them. I wont be doing the TGO in 2025 as i have another long adventure trail in the planning around the same time but all exciting.
      Thanks again

@Campingonthewildsidescotland it's always a lovely break there! This year we got some respite from the heat just before the storm and downpour 🙈

great video but i hate snakes! i have a phobia of them! have been the braemar camp site and its really nice but the only issue i had was during the night i had to get up to the toilet 4 times!
ps who won the bo challenge?! 🤣🤣

I didn't really disturb the snakes, they are poisonous and can be fate to the young or old person, i did nearly stand on one or two so they do catch you off guard. I am going to probably put my hand up and say it was e who won that Challenge haha but only by a margin lol. Braemar is nice, lacks a few plug for campers but not a bad stopping point.
