Hey brother a bit confused on using my ID 22 with an outboard compressor but utilizing the audient pres. Same idea here or do I need to utilize setting up output in the daw? Wouldn’t utilizing daw introduce latency like a plug-in?
ok a simple question I just want to do voice overs what would you suggest for that in regards to audient or anything else i need a solid one im willing to spend the money but don't mind something that can be setup for me easier
You'll have to consider how much I/O you need, that will be the deciding factor. They both pretty much have the same features, just accessed in a different way. The Evo has Smart Gain, the iD has Inserts. The Evo has modern digital controls, the iD has old school hands on switches and buttons. Just depends on what you like. 👍👍
Just to confirm I can bypass both preamps on id44 and evo16 with my acme audio mt66 and munUA solo 610? Plan on using adat to add UA 4 710d which allows me to use channel 5-8 on it to use external gear have a 1950s altec birdcage and about to buy stager sr1 ribbon just want to confirm thanks
Hello, just a question and this was only for the part with OBS. When the change in the audient software to change the mic inputs from stereo to mono, would OBS pick up each mic input as mono 1,2,3 and 4? Im curious if that can be done as this is kinda a feature I'm after in audio interfaces and perma stereo channels don't help what I intend to do.
Thats all determined by the driver for Windows. The VAST majority of audio interfaces will expose themselves as Stereo channels in Windows and Mac. I think the Evo 4 and 8 show Mono channels in Windows, at least they use too. Haven't checked with the latest driver. You can still use Mono inputs in your DAW.
get a MIDI to USB adapter. something like this amzn.to/44dhP2F I'm not saying it has to be that exact adapter, there are plenty out there that work the same way.
Thanks for all the useful info! 🙏🏻 I’ve watched also all the EVO 16 video and I’d like to ask a personal opinion. I’ll need a new interface to record kinda classical music with matching SDC stereo pairs with flat response and I really need the possibility to link the gains of the pairs, 8 inputs, clean and uncoloured preamp and portability. I can’t find a direct comparison between the EVO and ID preamps, I’m just scared that the EVO could sound “cheap” 🫠 You had the luck to hear them both, do you think that the EVO 16 could do the job for me? Or the gap between the 2 is unbearable and should I keep waiting until the ID88? 😅 Thanks!
It sounds like the Evo 16 would be the way to go for you. The reason is the preamp channels can be linked and the digitally gain matched exactly. The Evo 16 doesn't sound "cheap". Yes, the iD44 preamps are technically better, but you would need to add an external preamp since you only have 4 mic pres on the iD44. If you have the money for that, go ahead with the iD44 MKII. You can get the Audient ASP880 for $1199 imp.i114863.net/LPLMBa (Sweetwater) if you want the same Audient Console preamps in an external mic pre. That unit will work with either the iD44 or Evo 16. (or any other interface with Optical) If the Evo 16 fits what you need, you won't be disappointed. But if you want higher end internal components which will make a difference (it's not drastic, but it is perceivable) then the iD44 would be the way to go if you have the money to buy the extra hardware you'll need. Just go with the one that fits the majority of your needs and budget. They are both top end interfaces for their respective price ranges. And an iD88 would be awesome 🤘
Just got an ID44 last Thursday after studying your great video thanks.. but can you advise me on how I switch off the annoying voice that appears when I hover the mouse pointer over any button in the ID44 mixer screen. At the moment it is making the Mixer screen unusable since last Thursday. I have emailed Audient help desk last Thursday but no response as yet Regards Alan
I cant give recommendations on interfaces I havent used. But I would say look at the specs and see what you need. If compatibility with iPad/iOS devices is important, then you would choose the Motu. If thats not a main concern, then you'll just need to figure out which features are most important to you. It looks like the MOTU has DSP effects too. So again, you'll need to consider the features you need. If you are buying from Sweetwater, feel free to use my Sweetwater affiliate link sweetwater.sjv.io/Nk20Qq I'm sure you'll be happy with either. Just depends on how many pres you need on-board and the feature and function set you prefer.
can it work...with work arounds...maybe. But this interface is not made for iPad since it relies on the Mixer app which is Windows and Mac only. If you want an interface for iPad, you'll need to choose something that either comes with a dedicated iPad app, or has the ability to adjust all the parameters from the unit itself - like the EVO 4
nice tutorial! thinck that have porblem, every time when start (pover up) id44mkll sample rate is on 96khz ? i change on 48khz , then pover of and on, again is on 96khz! some bug or have some catch?( WIN 10)
That how it works for me too on Windows 11. It will default to the highest sample rate on restart. I'm guessing this is how it's intended to work. When you open your DAW it should automatically switch to your DAW sample rate. If you don't like that action, I would suggest contacting Audient and let them know you would like it to remember the Sample Rate setting for Windows. I'm sure a drive update could do that.
Those are two completely different audio interfaces. The Audient is $699 while the RME is $1599, so of course the RME will have more features. iD44 has 4 mic pres. The RME has 2. So you'll need an external pre-amp if you need more than 2 mic inputs simultaneously. But the RME has more line inputs Then the RME has features like recording directly to Flash Drive, and DSP for running FX latency free on the inputs. So if you need those extra features and have the money, go for the RME UCX II (my sweetwater affiliate link) imp.i114863.net/jWvmL5 or even step up to the RME Fireface UFX+ if you dont mind dropping 3k imp.i114863.net/kjEkQ0 But if you're not going to use all the features of the RME, then go for the Audient. They are both great interfaces, just depends on what you need.
Greetings, I bought this sound card but I can't get the sound out of the studio speakers. I connected the pair of monitors to outputs 1L and 2R of the Audient card. PC signal arrives at DAW 1+2 correctly. If I plug in headphones, you can hear it. I set the windows output to Analogue 1/2 (Audient iD44). What am I doing wrong? Could you please support me, I'm literally going crazy! Thanks a lot, Andrew
I am having problems with my iD application. The reaction time of the parameters e.g. when i move a digital fader with my mouse is so slow that it gets hard to control things. Does anyone know how to fix that?
There may be a way to with work-arounds but it's NOT officially approved for iOS. For something like that you'd go for something like the Evo 4 th-cam.com/video/I_wuEX0qaWk/w-d-xo.html
Yes, it's noticeable. Of course that's what you're paying for though, higher end components. It's not going to be a life changing difference, and it won't make or break your record, but there is a difference. I find the Evo preamps to be very clean and natural, not much color at all - especially if you run them a bit lower, they sound really good. The iD range uses Audient Console grade preamps and higher end converters. There is some pleasing color, overall still natural though, great clarity, and a juicy 3D overall sound. Of course, you're not going to hear these differences without great studio monitors or headphones. So the people listening to your music though laptop speakers or a phone probably won't be able to tell either way. They both sound good. The iD preamps are technically better. Some people don't like the sound of Audient Console preamps, others do. Unfortunately you really need to hear them for yourself to understand what I mean. I would base your decision on how much I/O you need. Also keep in mind Evo just released the Evo SP8, and you can use it with the iD44 to expand your IO and also get Smartgain in your setup. Then you'll have choices for preamp colors.
Awesome this was exactly what Info I needed. I knew the id has better pre amps. One more question I have a presonus 1818 Xmax pres (2013). Would the evo be a step up in quality or more a lateral move. I think I may just go ID44 as I have several adat expanders already. Thanks my friend. Appreciate your hard work!!!
@@justinreynolds3935 Thats a tough one. They are different in sound, but not by much. I'd say the XMAX pres are pretty clean with hardly any color, just like the Evo pre amps - but they both sound slightly different. You wouldn't really hear it unless you REALLY listen to some A/B tests, but I think they are slightly different. I have the Presonus 1824c. From a spec standpoint the Evo pres are technically "better" in some areas because they can capture a larger frequency range (10hz-40Khz) THD+N is also slightly lower on the Evo pres. BUT! The XMAX have a much larger gain range of 80dB vs 58dB on the evo. BUT AGAIN!!! Keep in mind alot of that range is MINUS gain. So the XMAX can turn DOWN the gain -15dB and the Evo -8db. HOWEVER!!!! The XMAX do have more usable gain at +65dB vs +50dB for the Evo pres. On the other hand, the iD pres have a 60dB gain range from 0 to +60 for Mic gain. And an even wider frequency response (10Hz-65kHz)
Dude you answered everything to a tee. Thanks 🙏. Much appreciated. I have some decisions to make. Thinking of ID44mkii just for the better pres and built in DI being easy. Plus the inserts are very useful. Thanks Sir!
@@justinreynolds3935 The inserts are really cool. And if you want Smartgain, you can always add the Evo SP8 to your system, plus you'll get 8 more outputs. That's my current setup, iD44 MKII + Evo SP8 💪 If you happen to be buying from Sweetwater here's my affiliate links iD44 MKII imp.i114863.net/b3Jqvg Evo SP8 imp.i114863.net/vnXAay Or if you prefer Amazon: iD44 MKII amzn.to/3iXD5rA Evo SP8 amzn.to/3j2wcW3 👍
Mac mini m1, os monterey 12.6.2, logic pro 10.7.5. Audio set to 24 bit 48 khz, round trip latency is 11.6 ms buffer size at 128. At 64 buffer size I get 8.9 ms round trip latency at 48 khz. Using the audient id44 mk1 latest driver. Not the best latency performance compared to rme audio interfaces. The headphone outputs and mic preamp gain needs alot of improvement on these the id44 interfaces. Sound quality is very good overall on audient interfaces.
but the Antelope is better, it has an FPGA to handle and process its own plugins without loading the CPU at very high levels, it also has the advantage that it can have a wide range of equipment as studios were equipped in the 70s and 80s. If you don't need to expand much in the future with real analog equipment and you mostly use it to record on the PC Antelope is your best decision, the plugins moved on the Antelope raise it to a GOD level.
I personally was like you and I prefer to pay more for Zen Core just for the relief of the CPU it is already worth it and the headache that this entails
Depends on what you need and want. Of course the iD44 MKII has upgraded preamps and Converters, that's why it's $200 more and you only get 4 preamps instead of 8. If price matters, then the Evo 16 is the way to go. You'll get way more bang for your buck. If you have some extra cash to buy an external preamp (I'm assuming you need at least 8 analog inputs) then the iD44 MKII. Unless you prefer digital control, then go for the Evo 16. They are both great interfaces. They each have their positive points. If you haven't seen the Evo 16 video yet th-cam.com/video/9UD-Wq2Ly4A/w-d-xo.html there it is. As I say in the video, you can make a hit song or podcast with any modern audio interface. It comes down to the features YOU need, and how much you want to spend. I mean you could go even higher end with the RME Fireface UFX+ imp.i114863.net/kjEkQ0 (Sweetwater affiliate link) if you need up to 94 I/O and MADI support. Of course you'll spend $3000 for that one 😲 It all depends on what you personally need in an audio interface.

Ad da converter of apollo twin x vs id 44 mk2?
Hey brother a bit confused on using my ID 22 with an outboard compressor but utilizing the audient pres. Same idea here or do I need to utilize setting up output in the daw? Wouldn’t utilizing daw introduce latency like a plug-in?
Hello. Can you please advise how will i connect a multieffects pedal to id44. For example: headrush mx5 connect to id44. Thanks
ok a simple question I just want to do voice overs what would you suggest for that in regards to audient or anything else i need a solid one im willing to spend the money but don't mind something that can be setup for me easier
My 2i4 is starting to die out, trying to figure out if I should go for this or the evo 16. Any thoughts on deciding between the two?
ADAT is digital so it wouldn't running through the pre-amps.
I want to use a midi controller (FCB 1010) but my ID44mk2 has not midi in/out. Any thoughts?
get a MIDI to USB adapter. something like this amzn.to/44dhP2F I'm not saying it has to be that exact adapter, there are plenty out there that work the same way.
Now i know which interface is the best for me. Thanks a lot!
How to do 5.1 Mixing in this??
Thanks for all the useful info! 🙏🏻
I’ve watched also all the EVO 16 video and I’d like to ask a personal opinion.
I’ll need a new interface to record kinda classical music with matching SDC stereo pairs with flat response and I really need the possibility to link the gains of the pairs, 8 inputs, clean and uncoloured preamp and portability.
I can’t find a direct comparison between the EVO and ID preamps, I’m just scared that the EVO could sound “cheap” 🫠
You had the luck to hear them both, do you think that the EVO 16 could do the job for me? Or the gap between the 2 is unbearable and should I keep waiting until the ID88? 😅
Thanks!
(or any other interface with Optical)
If the Evo 16 fits what you need, you won't be disappointed.
@@BenoniStudio Thank you so much 🙏🏻✨
Just got an ID44 last Thursday after studying your great video thanks.. but can you advise me on how I switch off the annoying voice that appears when I hover the mouse pointer over any button in the ID44 mixer screen. At the moment it is making the Mixer screen unusable since last Thursday. I have emailed Audient help desk last Thursday but no response as yet
Regards
Alan
a voice? It sounds like maybe you turned on some accessibility features in your OS.
Hi, 1 question. Which one? Motu Ultralite MK5 or Audient ID44 mkII
Just depends on how many pres you need on-board and the feature and function set you prefer.
ipad ready - is it class compliant - work with 10th gen ipa d?
can it work...with work arounds...maybe. But this interface is not made for iPad since it relies on the Mixer app which is Windows and Mac only. If you want an interface for iPad, you'll need to choose something that either comes with a dedicated iPad app, or has the ability to adjust all the parameters from the unit itself - like the EVO 4
@@BenoniStudio THank you - very helpful- i iwll check out the evo 4
thank you
nice tutorial! thinck that have porblem, every time when start (pover up) id44mkll sample rate is on 96khz ? i change on 48khz , then pover of and on, again is on 96khz! some bug or have some catch?( WIN 10)
@@BenoniStudio thank you!!!
Funciona con un laptop asus ?
yo bro which mic pream can i use this id44 .spl or asp800
whatever you want. any pre-amp will work.
I see a familiar amp sim ;)
What is that cool meter under your monitor?!
You mean these amzn.to/3dAxMLO or the light bars?
Those! So not an exact db meter… but still cool! These are on my stocking stuff list for Christmas ❤️ thank you
I would change my Audient id44 mk1 , my choices are RME UCX II OR AUDIENT ID44 MK II , Wich do you prefer?
Those are two completely different audio interfaces. The Audient is $699 while the RME is $1599, so of course the RME will have more features.
iD44 has 4 mic pres. The RME has 2. So you'll need an external pre-amp if you need more than 2 mic inputs simultaneously. But the RME has more line inputs
Then the RME has features like recording directly to Flash Drive, and DSP for running FX latency free on the inputs.
So if you need those extra features and have the money, go for the RME UCX II (my sweetwater affiliate link) imp.i114863.net/jWvmL5
or even step up to the RME Fireface UFX+ if you dont mind dropping 3k imp.i114863.net/kjEkQ0
But if you're not going to use all the features of the RME, then go for the Audient.
They are both great interfaces, just depends on what you need.
@@BenoniStudio the converter and preamp on Audient are good than RME? I don't need this feature
Greetings,
I bought this sound card but I can't get the sound out of the studio speakers.
Check the Sample Rate and make sure it matches what you have set in Windows.
I am having problems with my iD application. The reaction time of the parameters e.g. when i move a digital fader with my mouse is so slow that it gets hard to control things. Does anyone know how to fix that?
Try a different USB port.
@@BenoniStudio that worked, yet i don't understand why, becuase before i plugged it into a USB 3.1 port. But only 3.0 seems to work
So what I’m hearing is ID44 over Apollo Twin X
could you please provide some latency data ? thnx a lot 🤘
Latency specs are at the bottom of this page audient.com/products/audio-interfaces/id44/tech-specs/
@@BenoniStudio thanx a lot man !
Does it work with Ipad or ios?
There may be a way to with work-arounds but it's NOT officially approved for iOS. For something like that you'd go for something like the Evo 4 th-cam.com/video/I_wuEX0qaWk/w-d-xo.html
Juicy ////////////////////////// Looking this up in a technical dictonary
This or the evo preamps??? Are they really that noticeably different???
That's my current setup, iD44 MKII + Evo SP8 💪 If you happen to be buying from Sweetwater here's my affiliate links iD44 MKII imp.i114863.net/b3Jqvg Evo SP8 imp.i114863.net/vnXAay
Or if you prefer Amazon: iD44 MKII amzn.to/3iXD5rA Evo SP8 amzn.to/3j2wcW3
👍
Please reach out to Audient, Hope they Fix the DI bypass for MKIII model. 4 mics and two instruments at once would be awesome.
Someone has already compared it with the zen antelope Q, especially AD/DA conversion
but the Antelope is better, it has an FPGA to handle and process its own plugins without loading the CPU at very high levels, it also has the advantage that it can have a wide range of equipment as studios were equipped in the 70s and 80s.
If you don't need to expand much in the future with real analog equipment and you mostly use it to record on the PC Antelope is your best decision, the plugins moved on the Antelope raise it to a GOD level.
I personally was like you and I prefer to pay more for Zen Core
just for the relief of the CPU it is already worth it and the headache that this entails
So those metal amp plugins come with the Audient software?
No. Those are separate purchases.
@@BenoniStudio linky?
those are all from Plugin Alliance

Audient iD44 MKII Vs Audient Evo 16...?
Of course you'll spend $3000 for that one 😲
It all depends on what you personally need in an audio interface.
