Excellent review Brother! You cover the whole gambit of usage. I just received my iD14 mkII and can't say enough about it. I think my guitars alone went up 3 notches in pickup character alone from the really clean JFET impedance and circuitry. Better than a cloud lifter and the mic pre's shine with clarity. Add to that the stellar output and S/N. Your video is like a users manual. Refreshing, when all too many other YT reviews are just a hodgepodge of echoing vague first impressions. Your review shows you are covering the important and useful possibilities. Gave you a thumbs up. Thank You!
Yes, I'm not personally a fan of videos where folks simply give you an opinion (hype) and don't even show the function of a plugin or interface. I always try to focus on function, not hype.
Great video! I'm just getting into home recording and have been really studying up what interface I want. I've narrowed it down and decided the id14 is perfect for me. This video was fantastic and information, very much appreciated brother!
you're amazing! bought a id14 after my long lasting interface died and was so confused since it's my first time using audient. you saved me ! subscribed !
This was a very clean and easy-to-follow video! Thank you 🙌🏻 Waiting for my unit for my home studio, and to use for drum tracking together with the 18i20!
First time owning any audio interface. No guide. Found your video and it solved everything. May have to test every option one by one while watching to make it sure that i know and implement everything correctly when needed. But, since your guide is there i can refer to it any time if in doubt. Thanks again.
Excellent guide! The question I needed answered was if I could view the input levels in the mixer while setting gain, because the iD series does not display input levels on the hardware meters.
I have bought id14 yesterday, It's good but my new id14 release so much heat, before I use focusrite 2i2 it was not release that much heat. Please guide me sir.
Thank you for this video mann! I like how he puts in a little humour here and there "having pizza for lunch" and the cutie dog not a guitar - I mean I enjoyed watching the whole video while learning something new! Thanks mann!
Thank you for the detailed review. I ended up buying this audio interface. Extremely satisfied! However, i am having a small issue and haven't found a solution so far. I am using OBS to stream and i set the input device for my mic at the "Analogue 1/2 (2-Audient iD14)". This is the exact description in OBS. I am getting signal, the sound is good, but something limits the volume coming into OBS at max -6dB . I can't get beyond that. I've looked into the filters of the Mic and there is nothing there, no limiter. I've tried a usb mic to see if the issue is OBS or my audio interface, and with the USB i can get it clipped. On the iD14 , i have connected my mic via XLR on input Mic/Line 1. No matter if i have the volume knob turned at 75% or 100% on the iD14, it will still limit the output going into OBS. Does anyone knows what's causing the issue? Thanks fam.
As a complete Newbie to Audio interfaces I have been watching several videos on how to set them up and learn the process in which use them correctly...It has been Mind Melting!! Until now... your video Is AWESOME! Do you have any ohter videos for the first timers to learn the very basics of daws and/or doing voice overs? Thanks So Much For Your Work On this Video
I have some other Audio Interface videos that would be suitable for beginners to pros th-cam.com/play/PLEul48o1WdHszndjc0uadttXszwH2S6ec.html I don't think I have anything specifically for DAW basics or Voice Overs, but those issues are covered in several microphone and plugin review videos.
Why dont any blogger tell that this card is getting reset volume after each pc restart . You must manually turn back your comfortable volume gain by volume knob each time. It doesnt have any memory. Its annoying. As i use only headphones - its very uncomfortable that this card doesnt have a separate HP volume knob.
This is a great video, I've had my ID44 for a while now and love it. But was always use to physical monitor/DAW controls on previous interfaces so this helps understanding the function in the software realm
Ahhh thank you! I swapped my settings and it changed my sample rate on the loopback under the control panel. I've spent the last half hour trying to figure out why loopback stopped working! Aaaahhhh
I am very pleased and excited when I have finally received mine today. I don't care much of their software because I'm using surface pro-8. Studio one seems the way to go. Anyways, Great video man. Going to watch this again to learn all these type of features
I have a problem and i need your help please! My setup is FL studio + ID14 + AKG condenser mic. ALL drivers up to date (DAW driver is set to Audient one). I can record everything fine in my DAW. I use only my ID14 as my source of sound so Windows output is at Analog 1/2 so i can hear both youtube and my daw for example. I can record windows into DAW like shown here 21:18 through loopback BUT I CAN NOT do the opposite as shown in here 22:28. Ive done everything like you did. set all things that i see to 48kHz AND set loop back to master mix. OBS is capturing windows audio just fine but loop back is silent. My daw output is 1/2 so i hear it in the Main Mix. I can loop the audio from DAW to DAW thats for sure because the sound doubles and goes feedback mode. I just dont know what to do now. For some reason its just dont work. In any other setup or tutorial everything works perfect but not for me even though i do EVERYTHING EXACTLY LIKE ON THE VIDEO. Thank you for your attention.
My only problem so far this interface, that I am never sure about the phantom power is on or not. I wish there would be a LED or something. Left-right doesn't really map into anything in my brain. I'm trying to remember it as "if it points to 48V it means it adds that".
that crazy I have the same one but on Mac. and it doesn't show my sample rate!? also why can't I figure out how to turn off the direct monitoring ? trying to do the sound id Sonarworks and I can't since I can hear my microphone through the speakers. frustrating. great video sorry just wanted to speak on this
can i use the interface without connecting to a DAW ? if i want to connect a line-in through the optical AND connect some analog inputs via XLR, can i hear everything mixed together through the headphone jacks or even through the analog outputs all at the same time ?
So as you said I get no sound from my computer speakers as intended. I plugged in headphones on the 3.5mm jack in the front with my guitar but still no luck with Amplitube/cubase to get input sound. p.s. when i have windows sounds though the audient i still dont hear anything on my headphones which should work. Any help?
Thanks for this video great work. I have a problem when recording gibson explorer with passive T500 magnets, my signal clip though no matter how I set the gain pots. This is not the case when I record Harley Benton P bass. Do you connect the guitar directly to the card or do you have some DI to reduce the input signal? Do you have this experience with any of your guitars with passive electronics? What pickups did you record with?
Huge thanks! You helped a lot with understanding. But I didn't get one thing - now I have only one pair of monitors and can I hear any system sounds (browser for ex.) while using OBS? Cos' when I'm turning on system to 3-4, and using 1-2 for loop back I see the levels jumping but I don't hear enything - signal going on "second pair" of monitors? Hello! I need help with understanding something. I thought that input clipping is anything above 0db like you have it in the video but it sounds like it's not clipping. Am I maybe missing something?
Great Video thank you! Is it possible to use a EQ in the ID Mixer App on the output? To equalize your speakers. And can the interface be used with an iPad/Iphone or only a computer? Thank you!
Nope, the mixer does not accept plugins. The iD14 is not certified for iPadOS or iOS. Some people have gotten it to work, but its not made for that. If you want an interface for iOS, look to the Evo 4
Can you use a NT1a rode condenser mic into external mic preamp Gap73 > into la2a and 1176 compressor then > back into the line input of audient at the back ? with phantom power on or off ? ... not the di input but line in ? cheers
First of all, holy shit that was so beautifully in depth and you answered so many questions I've had about loopback that I've been scowering for, awhile now. But of course it has raised another question for me. Once in awhile I perform at open mics on a lil "social game" called VRchat and the loopback function is going to solve many problems I've had. However I'm realizing that since I'm going to be likely sending my 1-2 to OBS or possibly straight to VRC (I may be wrong about that second option), the live audience in VRchat will likely hear themselves as well no? I think there's probably an easy answer to this that I'll figure out once I get my hands on it (likely by using a Cue mix and sending that to VRC instead?). Lemme know if I'm close or very wrong. Thx for reading my long assed question.
Hey man thank you for the thorough video : ) , can I ask for your opinion? I have a microphone and a stage piano which is stereo. In this case, the Audient has only 2 inputs. Is there any way I could import stereo sound with only 1 input instead of mono?
Hi. Can you help me to understand if i can set iD button to mix knob to adjusts the signal level balance between the input signal of my mic jack and the signal from a DAW software?
I've recently picked up an ID44 and this video was SO helpful in getting more familiar - thanks! I have a question on routing if you can help? I am trying to use a reverb pedal as outboard gear and I have it running from Output 3 on ID44 to pedal input, then output into Input 1 on ID44. I am using Studio One with the pipeline plugin and when setting up I/O it's taking send from Output 3 and return from Input 1, but nothing is coming through when played back. Any ideas?
Hey dude, really cool video! I want to ask if I can mix sounds to hear different levels of sounds in one headphones and for example vocalist can hear a different levels of mix? Or the mix is going in the same levels to both headphones at the same time?
There is one c type usb cable, how to used phantom power, is usb power is sufficient to activate phantom power, there is led circle the big knob for what purpose
I have the smaller version (iD4 MKII). Does the iD14 MKII have the same monitor mix function as the one i currently own? I want to minimize delay when playing guitar by sending the signal directly to the monitors and not through the DAW.
I have this interface. It works great with Cubase. But when I add an instrument track and add a vst, the DAW channel isn’t audible unless The Mixer is minimized! The track will actually stop playing when I maximize the Mixer. I hear the instrument monitoring fine but the DAW channel will not work unless the Mixer isn’t onscreen. This is odd, right?
Can you stereo link the gain on inputs 1 and 2 on the iD14? So that an equal amount of gain is applied to both inputs? I haven't been able to figure that out.
Great video, using active pickups do you notice any clipping when going straight into the guitar input? Had a huge problem with the 2i2 clipping and looking at this one to replace
no clipping here with a Schecter C-9 with the powerful EMG 909s. Although it requires basically no gain at all. Just the slightest turn, and you're good.
Nice video. I bought this one,but i'm getting a problem, when i'am running audio in my daw everything is perfect about output, but when i am playing any youtube video or say using window's output driver i'am getting bass less signal in output , like high pass. When i'am using the daw returns channel 1/2,3/4,5/6 channel i'am getting bass less output. Pls let me know if you have come accross this problem and let me know if you can help. Thankyou:)
Thank Sir for such great sharing. I have a question. Could we use talkback signal (using microphone connected to mainboard) in loopback (source from master mix of ID14)? Thank you!
Probably the most useful and well-produced tutorial on TH-cam. Fantastic!
Dude, this is a most excellent explanation of the device. I salute you!
Answered every question I had. Thanks for this. A must watch if you own this unit.
Even i got it clear that i know nothing, the explanation is that crystal clear. Congrats! And thank you!

An excellent detailed explanation rare on youtube..I have shared it with couple of my friends as I'm too a proud owner of id 14 mk 2...Thnx Sir..
This is THE video I’ve been searching for ever since I started using my Audient unit. Comprehensive and easy to follow. Thank you so much!
Fabulous video. Clear instructions, easy to follow, important details all covered. You have a real talent for explanation.

Excellent video! Thanks for going over the Loopback w/ OBS setup. Love this interface. Really appreciate it!
This was a great video. I have found myself returning to the video several time just to make sure I understood each step. Thanks

Useful , recieved this sweome little tank yesterday - efforts dont go unoticed - video editing is long winded , so thanks
By far, the best video about the id 14. The OBS setup was terrific!! Thank you!
🤔 por que en el daw la señal del master no clipea y en el ID la señal de Daw 1+2 está pasando el 0? 🤔🤔🤔min 10:35
cant see the loopback in obs on mac... dont know what is the problem
Amazing video. Cleared many doubts about the interface. Thank you very much.
Super helpful for someone like me who has purchased this recently. I am sure I will continue to use this as a reference. Thanks!
I'm new to all of this. That is all lol. Very complicated yet you make it understandable. Thank you for this video.
Thanks! You just helped me solve a problem with my setup. Liked, shared, and subscribed!

Very detailed video, awesome!
I was looking for latency measurements when monitoring an electric guitar + DAW effects and that's exactly what I found.

Nice. How is the latency when you monitor the digital inputs?
Do routing settings stick when you power cycle the unit?

Good informative video. I will definitely purchase one.
Nice explanation, Love from Bangladesh ............ 💗💗💗
I am having issues. The input signal is so low with my guitars into inferface input. Barely flashes the - 36
1:27: so if i have no usb c port on my computer (usbc > usb a) i have less volume than a usb c to usb c connection? Possible solution?
This is because USB C provides more power than USB A. The difference is not huge, but there is no way around it.

Can you record your guitar and microphone at the same time? Or when DI is being used it bypass the mic input?
This is great! Thank you, it really helped.
Is it good for reamping? 4 outputs seem enough, 2 for monitors and 1 for reamp box?

A comprehensive guide.
Is it possible monitor from DAW with effects for example a reverb or EQ As we record vocals?
Yes, but you will have round trip latency (RTL). The sound coming into your ears with the reverb and eq will be slightly delayed.
