    Good job the only thing I would have done different was put a can of clear after the paint dries it will give it a more shiny look and help protect the paint and last longer

    Rust protection tip is a great idea, I had little spots of rust that bled through here and there when I did this. They looked sharp for about 8-9 months tho. Good thing is, I can just switch up the color again. Good video man.

    Most people sleep on steelies to give it some more pop add trim rings I usually find them in the junkyard then paint them the same color as the Steelie try it out you'll see the difference

    Steeliest are great for rally because they bent and go back whereas alloy just cracks. They use steel wheels on cop cars so they don’t get flats when they jump curbs.

    This is exactly what I was looking for. I’m going to paint my b16 Sentra steel wheels light gray. I just hate plastic wheel covers. It definitely looks different, but I hate plastic wheel covers. Just be honest with your wheels .

    • @CashedOutCars
      @CashedOutCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had no reason to, I bought the set, used them and sold them when I was done. I never had intentions of putting new tires on them

      CashedOutCars that’s fair enough. For someone using this as a long term thing the wheel weights should be removed tho

      I agree, this is the quick method. I’ve done other sets the “right” way, it just takes more time

    Bout to have to buy some donuts for my GTI (coincidentally) so I can make some money after I sell my stock Detroit rims and was trying to see what I could do to spice them up while i wait to get some new rims and then I saw he was painting them white and was stoked to see cuz my GTI is candywhite(coincidentally)and these turned out really a lot better than I expected! Now I'm not so bummed on having to put on donuts and even tho I'm more into the 5 spoke look, after seeing how his car looked at the end of the video I was pleasantly suprised and now I'm almost a lil exited tbh 😆

    Good job, what's your thoughts on putting a clear coat on as last step is it needed👍

    • @CashedOutCars
      @CashedOutCars  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine held up fine without it, but some clear coat would add extra protection and can change the look a bit if it’s what you want!

    I like to put my can a spray in a bucket of warm water (depending on the weather) to warm it up and get a much more even flow. Also shake the can a lot.

    Will the high pressure water hose wear the paint faster? Are there things I need to avoid or not do in order to keep the paint looking its best? I wanna paint mine white also.

    • @CashedOutCars
      @CashedOutCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will potentially wear it faster, but if you do a good job prepping the wheels and do a good job painting them they'll hold up. Prep work is everything on a project like this!

      I'd read the can for instructions. Most paints are fully cured in 5-7 days, but dry to handle within 24 hours

    Please help. I did this 3 times already and im TIRED ;-) of it! It always lasted 1 month and then the color started to fade and rust through. I did a thorow rust removal (much more work than shown in the video) and used the rust protection (i've read the contents - it's basically phosphoric acid). The prep itself took 2 afternoons, rather than 2 hours. Then i cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. Then I didnt use just rustoleum paint, but i used 3 coats of primer and then 3 coats of paint designed for car wheels. It lasted a month.
    What am i doing wrong? Could it be the paint? Are specifically designed paint cans a scam and Rustoleum solves it?
    At my 3rd attempt i thought that the "rust protection" ruins the paint so i tried without it, and it lasted 2 months. Not really what i was expecting :-/
    The rust first appears in the outside edge where the water always stands when the car is standing after the rain, but after 2 months the wheels look all yellow and rusty.

    • @CashedOutCars
      @CashedOutCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It sounds like you're doing everything correct. Rustoleum paint (That says "Stops Rust") is great for preventing and painting over surfaces that have any amount of rust on them, ie what's left after prepping the wheels. I'd also try to keep your wheels as clean as possible after they're painted. Good luck!

    • @panvomacka9079
      @panvomacka9079 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Robert Bonvallet The thing is that these wheels are on the car i dont use much and is basically a spare vehicle. I just wanna maintain it but not to spend much on it, so didnt want to buy new wheels. Also these steelies look quite nice on the car. I just cannot stand the look of scratched or rusty wheels in general :-)
      Second thing is that when i tried and failed, it became personal. I see other people have better result that lasts and i refuse to believe i cannot do the same. So now i dont do it just for the sake of the wheels, but for me wanting to prove myself :-D Last try and then i give up and replace them or maybe sandblast+powder coat like you suggest.

      Hello my friend. I dont know what you have done until now, but I have the solution for you.
      After you do 3 coats of the paint, use a transparent polish over the paint after it is dry. You can use gloss or matt polish. It is very cheap and comes on spray
