The album is up everywhere except iTunes now, expecting that to hit either later today or Monday (but they have made me wait before...). If you were waiting for Amazon or Google Play, it's up! Also thank you so much for everyone who has bought the album and supported it, I honestly couldn't do this without it and I love making this stuff. I hope we get to hear what From is up to soon, I know it'll be so inspiring! I just want to say that you are the most talented composer I've ever seen, From Software should seriously hire you for their future games, & tbh I would sooooo hire you to compose the music for a game idea I have & hope to bring to life one day that I call "The Forlorn Lands" which is a fantasy world of my own creation.
The tone of the song makes me think Sigurd is an inherently good man who you encounter multiple times on your journey as an NPC before becoming a boss. He is a kind-hearted man of honor who has been deceived into believing that the misdoings of his masters are for the good of the world and that blind faith and loyalty in those ideals eventually leads you two into conflict. Before his boss fight, there is a cutscene in which Sigurd compliments your abilities as a Hunter to make it as far as you have and affirms his belief in his masters' false promises, but still pleads that you walk away. However, you've come too far to turn back now and you reject his offer. Genuinely saddened, Sigurd says, "Then I will do what I must. Forgive me.," before readying his spear and beginning the battle. Sigurd's battle is similar in a way to Maria's, in that he adds new attacks and elements to his arsenal as the battle progresses, but never loses the attacks of his first phase. Once you beat him, another cutscene plays. Sigurd collapses, mortally wounded, once again complimenting you on your abilities as he coughs up blood. You offer to heal him, but he refuses, saying that if his time has come, he will be glad to have met you as his final battle. He then explains some of what his masters had told him and partially realizes what a fool he had been. He tells you to continue on and hands you an item, such as a key, that will allow you to progress before dying. Your character bows their head in respect to the fallen warrior before continuing on.
This comment is ancient, but I'd like to add a bit: It would be cool if Sigurd could, as your duel progresses, finally see how foolish he was to blindly follow his masters. The realization drives him into frenzy, denial and desperate justification of his deeds. The final phase of the fight is him finally accepting his mistake and letting you put him down for good.
Doing quick research I found the name Sigurd in Norse meant victorious defender or guardian. The name, Sigurd, the Nightmare Partisan, could mean he defends the Great Ones while us, the hunter, wants to batter back the nightmares which plague Yharnam. While defending the Great Ones, Sigurd also forgives or justifies, the Great Ones of misdeeds they have done, acting as sort of a religious figure. However professing there is such a figure amongst the Great Ones would lean more to the theory that they are just higher celestial beings rather than gods. We have seen that Oedon has transcended the others so... maybe? There is also a different meaning for partisan, a strong supporter of a cause, a person, etc., meaning he could just be a follower and protector of the Nightmare. This would entail that he could be a human of high authority and power, possibly a Kin or a religious figure. I imagine they would have managed to delve enough into knowledge of the Great Ones but not so much as to go completely mad, like half-alien monstrosity and half-man who is uncomfortably intelligent and convincing towards justifying the Great Ones and the Church for make the Scourge of the Beast happen. Apologies for the ramble I just really love your music and the game behind it.
Looks female going off the long hair and those blue eyes, could be wrong but the eyes look very feminine (pretty). Also there is a Valkyrie in Norse mythology called 'Sigrun' I beleive could be a different person but Valkyries are always female.
Also here is a midi of the melody for the song. I thought it might be insightful to share this because this is how the song started. I was showing somebody how to turn any sort of melody you like into something more meaningful by adding to it with bass notes and chords, and finally some sort of rhythm or progression to give it more life. Sometimes melodies you remember fondly are because of what is going on around it and supporting it. The melody was meant to be sort of...random, I didn't even think about it. Eventually I kept thinking about it afterwards because of this exercise and it convinced me to turn it into a song for the album. Here is the midi for anyone interested: www.mediafire.com/file/wcdjpb6cwcksa2w/Sigurd%2C%20Nightmare%20Partisan%20Melody.mid
A nightmare Partisan? as in someone who forgives crimes? Is there someone traversing the nightmare with the intent to free its prisoners? If so, then why are we fighting them...
@@tsdZero1993 It does appear to be canon that unless you are the Dreaming Hunter, the only way to leave a Nightmare is to die in it. This is better idea really. Sigurd is someone who came to the Nightmare to free those trapped within, and the only way to do this is to kill them. Upon defeating him, rather than killing him, he simply collapses and finally realizes you are here for a similar purpose: To stop the Rite of Blood. He gives you a key that will lead you to he hidden chamber where Cecile is hiding, and says he will join you as soon as he can so, together, you can end this. (He becomes a summon for Cecile Grosvenor and Vulekta)
hearing this the first time: I really like this one, and probably Sigurd is a fallen hunter, trapped into the endless nightmare of the Frontier. After reading who this guy is: this bloody, Patches like bastard of a Grosvenor >_>
"Aaaaah, I think this would be our last Dance... our last Hunt..." * Sigurd rises his weapon as a salute, and runs towards you * This is what this music makes me think about
Alex Roe. I love Bloodborne, so much so that I've played it around 6 times and am still playing. Hearing these, giving me the same vibe and feelings as being in Bloodborne's world is amazing. You instantly jumped to my top 10 artist. Thank you.

@@ottoia9126 i love this
This one is truly magnificent. Perfectly evokes the feeling of the title.

It's very interesting, what software did you use to do it ?
Love your stuff so much it's hard to perfectly describe it... you are the best man
FROM SOFTWARE hire this man at once!
A nightmare Partisan? as in someone who forgives crimes? Is there someone traversing the nightmare with the intent to free its prisoners? If so, then why are we fighting them...
Because they need to get gud
Maybe the only way they believe others can be free'd is death?
Maybe the nightmare partisan wants to free some terrible nightmare monster

I think that they would be a boss on an evil path of the game
I can only imagine how these characters in Bloodborne would intertwine with the game and other NPCs. A great and insightful piece, nice work.
It just goes to show it is not so difficult to come up with ideas, just takes a lot of creativity.
