- Hey party people! Thanks so much for hanging out with me while I share with you this new week of dinner ideas, wads for dinner if you will! I wanted to do all soup recipes because it's soup season!! Total soup weather and I'm all about it! It won't last much longer here in Florida so I'm soaking it all in! This is the most refreshing spot on the internet. Love that you’re always yourself and true to what you’ve always done.
Just a little tip. Add your spices, spice pastes, curry powder to your onions etc and fry them before adding liquids. You will get a better flavour.
And any tomato paste you use!

Oh my goodness, I love Elyse…she’s one of the six sisters! I’m not sure why she’s off on her own now but I recognize some of the recipe’s. I love the idea of higher protein meals so I’m considering subscribing to her meal plan. I know its good food because I’ve used the sisters meal plans and recipe’s for years. Some soup inspiration/ideas for you to try, with a few different veggies: celeriac with (blue or another strong flavoured soft cheese) and some spinach. Parsnips with cottage cheese and a grainy mustard, and some greens for garnish. Zucchini with cottage cheese. Red lentil and carrot.
My trick for thickening potato soup when I want it more chunky is to add instant potatoes to it. It doesn't change the flavor because it is still potato and you need to be careful not to add too much or it will paste. But it makes a nice thick soup without changing the flavor at all.
We are stuck in the -20's here, and soup has been in our bellies to help keep us warm, but we still eat ice cream for dessert!!!!

One tip for the curry soup when you’re making it add the curry to the vegetables before you add the liquids and give it a minute to warm up. Most of your Indian spices do better when toasted slightly, you don’t want to burn them but you want to toss them around in the oil and let them warm up for a better flavor then add your liquids.

I miss cooking with my babies! And then again I don’t😂seeing Wolfgang’s sweet little hand grab that piece of cheese made my heart melt. Our kids are in college, about to be in college, and also just about to graduate from college. So ours are much older and in a different time of life. Look forward to grandkids AND trying out these yummy soups!!! The soups will happen much sooner than the grand babies😂

Yes do another soup recipe vid. Love the lemon chicken orzo. Kinda like Avgolemono Greek soup. Your soups all look good. And your chopping skills are actually fast and amazing. I have a tremor so chopping is a pain but I enjoy having things hand chopped. I do have an onion dicer but occasionally just avoid it bc it’s a toss up of convenience of chopping but more dishes to wash. I agree abt parsley being like grass. You need a souper cube freezer tray so you can make and freeze soups for the kids to microwave and be good to go. Maybe Avalina’s madras lentil and more potato soup for Alex. Lol. Thanks so much for these recipes! I always love to make soups no matter the time of year. I do really enjoy making them in the crockpot because I feel like slow long. I absolutely love lasagna soup, for the noodles i just break up lasagna noodles in bite size pieces cuz I always have those noodles on hand, I love your soup edition!😋😋 and I use a half of jar of spaghetti sauce in placement of your tomato sauce, but good job Kim staying with the homestead home making theme❤❤
