Have you tried asking your local fire department if they wanted to use that house for a control burn, usually they take awake what is left behind and you can start anew with no cost for the take down.
You might check with your local fire department and offer the structures for training purposes. Once they are done with burning them down they usually will clean up the area.
Congratulations! You'll be able to live in Clementine while you're working on the house. I would think about laying down a concrete pad to park Clementine on to keep her from degrading. You might also want to put a carport over it too, to give yourselves shade. I can't wait to watch this new adventure!
OMG WOW.... you bought an abandoned house?! That's nuts .... I can't wait to see you renovate (or tear down) the main house. Good luck with this new project
When getting your dumpsters, ask about a ‘whole house tear down’ or similar language. This has saved us a TON of money. We are doing the same thing you all are doing.
As an old house renovator, I love it! Once it’s cleared out you can see the bones. Best type of house to get. I’m excited for you. I’ll be keenly watching
Piece of unsolicited advice: I am watching another TH-camr who is doing a house renovation, he admits no prior experience, but he is learning how via TH-cam videos. This can be ok, but the further he goes, the more apparent it is that he hasn’t thought this through. Installs walls and floors in attic and second floor, then realizes that basement walls need footers, and basement floors need to be replaced due to water issues. Starts addressing that, but then decides that he wands an addition that almost doubles size of basement. Starts to dig it, runs into water table; now needs to lower that by adding drains. Digs (with excavator) 15-ft deep trench in sand to lay tile; runs around in trench with no shoring - this is VERY dangerous as people die in trench collapses. Heaven only knows what is next. So, congratulations on the house. I’m looking forward to seeing you do the renovation. But, please at least read the comments- there are those here with renovation experience (I’ve done 3 myself). We want you to succeed.
@@airenesmiler6624 I see NO comparison here. They know this could be a tear down. Cole is doing something utterly crazy, but he makes money off his content, so who cares, really?
@@cathylewis2181 Yes, he is making money off of his content. But he could also have done things differently that would have saved him headaches, I appreciate the solving problems as they appear, he is very resourceful, but he hasn't made it easy on himself. There is a huge difference between tearing down a family mansion and the ranch house; it's not architecturally interesting or very well built to start with.

Congratulations!! Ya'll should watch Jenna Phipps on TH-cam. She recently bought an abandoned mid century modern house in Canada. It was in very rough shape with lots of water damage, mold, rats, etc. Her & her boyfriend are doing the majority of the renovations themselves so they've encountered most of the issues you're about to run into. Also, I bet the animals living in the ceiling were so annoying to whoever was squatting in the home that they decided to take down all the tiles to stop them from running around up there lol.
No, this wasn’t a huge mistake. This is going to be awesome. I’m all in. Clementine was an adventure but you were overcome with repairs, So time to put that effort into this homestead. You have already reno’d a couple RVs so you can do this and I’m excited to watch!
Congratulations on your first “Stick-built”! That’s what us country folk call a house, as opposed to a modular or trailer home. May the reno go smoothly, the relationship stay strong, and the water run, forever and ever.
The potential for this is absolutely phenomenal. Good for you for spotting it. You're going to have an amazing property when you're done and it will give you years and years of content and sure hard work, but the setting is priceless. Gut the main house down to the studs and see what the underlying structure looks like. If the structure is sound, then it should be worth renovating to a usable home.
This seems to be the end of an era, a real seachange: The Endless Adventure, Eva Zu Beck, The Travel Beans, Vanwives, Eamonn & Beck, Mr & Mrs Adventure all settling down and buying property. Ah well, good luck to all, I'll keep watching!!!
Also the Newbys had a van life era before they settled down in Portugal. life on the road is not for everyone, at least for years and years and years and years.
Just goes to show that van life has a burnout rate. I'm not sure everyone will be in love with watching remodels after remodels after remodels. I don't want to have to find new people to follow
Suggestion: get a plumber out to check the tiny home to see if it's all sound. Renovate the small building bc it looks most put together. Then live there while you get HUGE dumpsters out to the property to clear out and hopefully fix up the other buildings or knock them down.
Wow! How exciting! I don’t doubt that you two are going to turn this property into a treasure! Can’t wait to watch the progress!!!!! Congratulations! ~Cara ❤
