    Amber, I see your style of vlog not as a mish mash, but a collage of comforts, and a patchwork of pieces from your creative family life. Thank you for your encouragement to get through these dark days of winter. I will try going outdoors more because of it. ☕️🧶🌲

    I began watching your channel during Vlogmas and I really look forward to your podcasts. I looked on You Tube today and saw two new podcasts of yours and I was delighted. It's nice to find another homemaker that is a Christian and a knitter. Your bagels look amazing. You are not alone when it comes to the long winters. Where I live (western Canada) I have to try to embrace it so I have a Golden Retriever that makes me get outside just about every day and enjoy nature. Thank you for sharing your podcasts. Have a lovely week!

    I have always enjoyed your podcasts. I swear I smile every time I see a new podcast. I am like a kid in a book store or library. My grandson got me hooked on a series he is reading about dragons. He is also reading the Harry Potter series. When I go to the library I head for the section for the crafts books . My next stop is I look for new knitting and crocheting mysteries. I am hooked on them haha

    I love your clay work!! I tried to vlog and wow it took a lot of time! My toddler taught me to find joy in everything. That means, no weather can keep people from enjoying the outdoors if they wish to be out. It was snowing one day and I wanted to stay in to be warm. He looked at me and said, oh mommy just wrap me all up and throw me out there. I'll be happy and won't be sick, please? Lol I love scrap yarns in a basket!

    Hello Amber! I’m always so happy to see a new vlog post from you. I did see your IG story of your winter walk this morning. Wasn’t it just gorgeous outdoors with the snow hanging on the trees and the pristine white of the snowfall? It is one of my favorite wintertime views. I dislike the messy, muddy, sloshy snow that comes after, but the pure stillness of this morning was a true delight. It is predicted for more snow on Wednesday, mixed with rain, which has messed up my plans for going to the Benedem, but it is January in PA. I loved your air dried clay items that you and Lily made and now painted. You are so creative and artistic. I did get a lump in my stomach when you spoke of your grandpa and your painting. My grandsons are 5 and I am 67. Life is way too short. I truly get depressed when I let myself think of how fast time goes. I wish I could go outdoors and enjoy just walking around. Sadly, I am allergic to sulfur, and my neighbors mostly burn coal to heat their homes. The sulfur in the air is dangerous for me, and makes breathing difficult. Even the smoke from a outdoor fire pit gives me a severe migraine. ( even though wood fire has no sulfur) But I still love it all, from a far. My hip is acting up, which also causes me some dismay to even walk in town where the smoke doesn’t bother me. I have been struggling with this for over a year. Also leads to my depression. BUT…things could be worse, I get up every day, can do chores as long as I rest between, read, sew, and knit. So life is good; and I didn’t mean to sound whiny. I am listening to the audible book, Anne of Green Gables, and am loving it. I love that time period. I also love bookstores and libraries, as well as the book section in thrift stores. I want to make a scrappy blanket, and think I will begin it soon. I’m not sure if I want to knit it or crochet it…I love both. Well, sorry this was chatty. Thank you for sharing your moments with us. I love it! Take good care, and hope to see you soon.❤

    • @alovelyyarn
      @alovelyyarn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cindi! How horrible that you can't get out an walk because of the sulfur!!! Where you able to make it to the Benedum today? We got quite a bit of snow and then ice and the rain so a lot of the snow has already melted. How was it in your area?
      I LOVE Anne of Green Gables. I've read it multiple times. I'm actually currently reading Emily of New Moon which is another, lesser known book of L.M. Montgomery. I'm really enjoying it!
      Thank you for watching and for your kindness!

    • @cindik7268
      @cindik7268 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alovelyyarn summers are so much better for breathing, that is for sure. But I can go outside in other areas. My hip is so bad now that I guess it is ok to stay inside. When we go to the Benedem, I can walk if I hold on to my daughter. I guess it takes the pressure from my hip. I was unable to go though today. Our roads were not good. In the afternoon they were slushy, but I live in a valley with the only way out is hills. So I just stayed here. My daughter took one of her friends in my place, which was great.
      I will look for the Montgomery book you spoke of. I will definitely read Anne again. I bought the entire set.
      I found a new to me podcast/ vlogger who enjoys everything I like. She sews, knits, designs patterns, journals, and reads. Maybe you watch her already. I will find her and send her channel name to you ...on Instagram so I can DM you.
      Have a nice evening. ❤

    I was so happy to see your video this morning. One popped up last night and by the time I tried to watch it you were gone, vanished, nowhere. I thought I was hallucinating for a minute 😅 You definitely have an artist's eye as the closing picture proves. I echo other's hopes that you let us see some of your paintings. Your whole family seems to be blessed with artistic abilities if the clay creations are anything to go by. The hanging mushroom was my favorite, but Lilli's minimalist whimsy was a close second. So simple, but so sweet.. Thanks for the vignettes into your family life once again.

I totally agree about the necessity of having the right attitude about the cold weather, but I can tell you that now that I am in Australia, after nearly 9 years in the north of the Uk, my heart is much happier. Amber! I live in Maine and I too, make myself go outside, usually walk for one hour, unless it's icey rain. It's good for exercise and good for your mental health. Coincidentally, am making a Stephen West Garter Squish blanket with left over worsted yarn. Am holding scraps with a neutral color throughout. I loved Night Circus. I listened to The Starless Sea on audiobook and liked that too. Right now I'm reading The Life of Elves by Muriel Barberry. The language is beautiful. There are a lot of characters to remember even though the author created a glossary to help the reader with that. I'm not sure I'd recommend this book but will withhold my judgement on that until it's finished. Your videos are nicely done. Calm and conversational. I do have an author recommendation: Louise Dickenson Rich. Start with: We Took To The Woods. She wrote many books about her life. She's no longer living. Thanks for all your hard work in making these videos!

I know nothing about them and I would not be able to forage them for food, so I just enjoy them right where they are and then make pretend ones out of clay and yarn! Lol.

      Hi Laura. I guess I do have a very loose routine, but basically I make a list of my daily tasks and then try to get as much done in the morning as possible. I seem to lose gumption as the day goes on. Maybe I'll talk about that in a future vlog.

    Hi Amber! Another sweet vlog of your winter days. I always ♥️ your vlogs, in all seasons. I am just about to cast on a garter blanket too! I was wondering what you decided about that i-cord? Too cast-on at first or later? I watched Stephen West's i-cord bind on. Too tedious for me!

    • @alovelyyarn
      @alovelyyarn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bobbi! It is definitely a process! But it's so much easier to be GF now than it was 14 years ago when I started. Oh my, the options were so extremely limited back then. My biggest advice is just to be really careful about reading labels! Watch out for soy sauce. It's used to season a lot of different dishes and also as a meat marinade in some restaurants. And unless it's GF soy sauce, it will have gluten in it. I was accidentally exposed to gluten this way, so now I'm extra careful. It's easy at home; much harder when eating out.

    Hello! Your vlog popped up in suggestions as I searched for knitting vlogs. I'm so glad I clicked! This was great, and cozy, and enjoyable. You have a beautiful place. I have a random question ...you have a painting or print on your wall of the woman at the piano. Took me by surprise! I have the same now that was my mom's before she passed, but some of the background is absent with only part of the fireplace. It's a print from early '60s I think, at least that was when it was given to my mom. Is yours original or a print? And do you know if it has a title?

    • @alovelyyarn
      @alovelyyarn  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello! Mine is a print, but it is huge! I found it at a yard sale for a few dollars about ten years ago. I'm not sure of the title. I had never seen a print like it before, but I really liked it and bought it!
