A good forensic psychologist is a wonder to behold when they are on the witness stand (and when you read the transcript of their deposition), and at all other times in their professional capacity. Really bad forensic psychologists are found most often in the family-court-industrial complex, and they violate the ethics codes as mercenaries just like maga, and are an unaccountable part of the maga problem (general corruption and unaccountability).
And your patriotism.
Top investigative journalist, David Cay Johnston has known Trump for many years. David reported that as a child, Donald made up a game called, "Make The Baby Cry," where he threw little rocks at the neighbor's baby while out in his playpen. I've often wondered if that child was traumatized by Donald's sadistic "game.". When I heard that, it seemed to move Donald from sociopathy into the psychopathy category. Many psychopaths tortured animals when they were young, but torturing a baby? Thank you for the persistent efforts you have made to try to protect our society, Dr. Lee. We can only wish that enough people are smart enough to listen to you.
Torturing animals and extensive patterns of deliberate cruelty to others as children is a pre-requisite of psychopathy as it that stuff is antisocial personality disorder (another psyychopath prerequisite). So yeah, you made the correct armchair diagnosis even though "armchair diagnosis" is a pejorative term. Defendant Trump is the world's most obvious con-man so we all have more information than needed to know Trump will sell America into slavery including sex-slavery so no one really faults the armchair diagnostician for noticing the obvious defects of nazi-sympathizing and desperate criminal defendant Trump.

I hope Rep Raskin will be asked back - I saw the video of the 2019 conference and he as principal impeachment manager came close to convicting Trump in the Senate - BUT Republican Senators stood in the way, so I'm hoping the conference will discuss enabling and enablers so the country can arrive at a solution to pull us out of the Contagion
Wierd thing everyone forgot: the 1st impeachment was immediately followed by the Trump virus pandemic. So there's an example of distracting from the previous crime by committing an even bigger crime - a relentless maga behavior problem.
I've not caught and I never will have that contagion.

Thank you, Dr. Lee, for your expertise and honesty. I have always heard that in a group of people together, the craziest person will always emerge as the one running the show. I get it, but I can't understand what it is in the human ethos that keeps us from expelling him from "the tribe" so that his insanity doesn't destroy our larger national family. Your concept of mental illness as a "contagion" is fascinating and certainly seems to fit as an extreme version of "mood transferral" that is seen in many primates and other "herd" animals. Funny how we humans always set ourselves apart from and above other species. I simply can't see other species putting up with a "Trump" in their midst. They would either kick him out...or take him out. We are the flawed species.

On my first day on the job my supervisor inexplicably launched into a gender-bashing conversation and I didn't pull any punches I said in front of the whole squad of flight instructors I will not tolerate this and he stood god-damn corrected. And I'm just a plain old white hetero grump
Here is my take on this.
Why does the group put up with the bad actor? Perhaps some have lower levels of what the contagion/T possesses and so they identify with him in some way, thus protecting him as he is "one of us". There also is that notion, "keep your friends close and your enemies closer". Another perspective could be that his stance is so extreme it can be seen as entertainment (until it is targeted on the "entertainees"). Then there ultimately is the Stockholm syndrome which Dr. Lee describes in this video. All of these perspectives/interpretations of the risk work to keep that individual (T in this case) carrying the "contagion" around to contaminate others and inflict harm.
Those in powerful positions who "ought to know", seem to forget their education around such a person, as they are overwhelmed by the charm, and the perceived yet artificial power such a person holds until it is too late to act on their social obligations (I see this in the "sane washing" identified in the MSM)...Then the cat is out of the bag and it will be each person for him/herself.
Then what happens? This will become another prophecy proffered by the contagion i.e., "there will be a bloodbath" which is given an opportunity to manifest. Once that event occurs, the event itself will be enfolded into the man's growing mythology and thereby promote the contagion (T) from mere mortal into his godhood. It then becomes evidence that what the contagion knew all along is genuinely true (they can predict the future after all) so we must bow to their superiority and follow their edicts if we know what is good for us.
Can we learn from the past to correct our course? Imagine the mindset of the intelligentsia in China who had to go farm the fields for their reeducation. In time, some eventually agreed that it was the best solution. That is what we can anticipate in the event T wins this 2024 election.
Today, many well educated people would not agree that T is a good thing for the US...But if he gets elected and proposes such a "training opportunity to those who haven't joined his side in order to keep (insert here a fill in the blank item that which is most valuable to them)", those who accept that proposal and survive it, will be hard pressed to maintain any opposition to him and what Project 2025 outlines. They will likely be grateful to be alive. They then will go on to promote it as a historical benefit to the country and a few will go further and personally inflict the same on others.
Sorry to write such a long item, but I'm seeing this all connected and predictable.

Regardless of how you interpret his place in history, given the opportunity, he will destroy everything and everyone around him. That is the guaranteed denouement of the tragic tale of a damaged human being endowed with ultimate power. Sounds kind of Shakespearian. Might even be entertaining as a fictional drama. My mother, now dead, was a narcissist, and the damage she inflicted on me is the curse that has lifelong consequences. After I left that house of horror, I spent years in therapy and grew stronger as I came to understand her sickness. She was also a Bible thumping hypocrite who was quick to lash out and physically and mentally abuse me. I thought there was something wrong with me and had no confidence whatsoever until I went through therapy, sometimes helped by medication. Since Trump came on the scene, it has been re-traumatizing. His cruelty and violence is difficult to endure. Even though I am hopeful that he will not be re-elected, not a day goes by that I am not driven to tears at his hatefulness and cruelty, especially to women who are now dying because of his pleasure of ensuring that women cannot get reproductive health care. Narcissistic damage lives on in the afflicted. My ex husband’s mother was a narcissist and created havoc in our lives. Today he still suffers as a victim of her psychopathy.

There will be people who will have a hard time coming to terms with what they have done while under the spell of a mad man. This will be a painful reckoning for them, as well as the rest of us.

In a collective sense, hardship also causes part of the mind to find patterns in things. For example if someone loses their jobs, the stress makes them see things in circumstances and connect dots where they might not be any. Then, if they are at home on the internet, conspiracy theories and propaganda more easily take hold. It's such a complicated issue, there's no one real way of understanding all the reasons we are where we are at. But hopefully Trump will become just a memory soon so we can move on.
The mind's inherent relentless search for truth is called learning and guarantees the incineration of the right wing Trump delusion. What you call finding patterns. Trump's understanding of correlative insight is to "weave." His 5-year-old head whipped up a pidgeon approach to interdisciplinary insight which results in poisonous word-salad soaked in Nazi hatred as he "weaves" non-sequiturs like some kid gluing magazine cutouts on a racist vision board.

Yep ....and many of his politician colleagues were lead to break laws .They are now in the prison system .Following along blindly ,can have sobering consequences ,eventually.
Admitting we've allowed these toxic circumstances is painful, but that would be necessary to any healing that will take place and preferable to any effort to sanitize or normalize them.
I've been following your lead since 2017 or so. It's helped to dull this wretched time in history. It's got to be a psychiatrist's dreamscape, though, Millions of serious issues, wandering like zombies, red hats covering their balding heads, full of hate and fear that they've mistaken for courage. Hunkered down with their weapons against the "woke mob." This should be inside a funny book. It's not. It's lame and pitiful, and the fuse has been lit for years.

Imagine being the target of a psychopath, being threatened, harassed, stalked and assaulted by them on your doorstep. And despite desperately trying to avoid them and not reacting to them and the police rather believe the psychopath. Despite all the evidence. This then emboldens them to start recruiting others to do the same thing. Imagine what your life would be like.
The Police would have to believe solid evidence if it was gathered ..(eg with a covert recording ).
