I love listening and watching Dr. Lee. I even watched the first symposium she championed, all 3+ hours of it. It was so incredibly interesting and I cannot wait for the next one, so much so, I donated to the GoFundMe.
I am nowhere near as educated as Dr. Lee, but, my thoughts on the Goldwater Rule are that, especially with trump, the mental health community is able to see more of trump’s personality and deficiencies than any mental health professional could ever decipher with him in office. The Goldwater Rule is so outdated and ancient. It needs to be archived away, not used to gag professionals who are trying to alert the public that a malignancy is rapidly growing among us.

Frankly, Dr Lee made a strong impression upon me during her appearance on the Jesse Lee Peterson show, "The Case against Donald Trump". She was incapable of understanding and effectively responding to basic questions put to her, by this far less educated host. However, I'm left unable to decide about her character. Is she well intentioned, but somewhat deluded? Or is she actively conspiring as a political operative.

I read an article eons ago, which stated that in experiments, prisoners were given high quality food, including items such as salmon, and Omega 3, and a few other nutrients seem to be the key to healthier - and mentally healthier relationships among prisoners - e.i., less violence..

Bandy, I seem to alway get to you when I'm browsing You Tube. I love your speaking. Your cadence and gentle voice always attract me. Then you smile, and I'm hooked. I have aphasia from a stroke years ago. I can keep up because of your demeanor, and I lost my entire family years ago because of a sociopath adopted sister who wreaked havoc on my family and my wife and I were the only ones who chose to stand our ground so we had to go "no contact". From that experience I became interested psychology. I'm a U.S. veteran era of the Vietnam war. For some reason, I feel I saw right through Donald Trump immediately and detest what's become of half of our country. I get comfort and some understanding of all this mess because of you. I'm so very grateful to you as you have helped me get some claritiy. Thank you again!!

Not respecting the feelings and emotions of others.
    Constant lying or deception.
    Being callous.

Some common signs and symptoms of malignant narcissists include:
    Lack of empathy
Malignant narcissists have little regard for the feelings of others and may not feel remorse or regret for their actions.
    Aggression
Malignant narcissists may be highly aggressive and may become enraged if they feel threatened or challenged. This aggression can include emotional abuse, verbal abuse, or physical violence.
    Grandiosity
Malignant narcissists have an exaggerated sense of self-importance and may believe they deserve special treatment. They may fantasize about power, beauty, love, and success.
    Manipulation
Malignant narcissists may use manipulation tactics like charm, flattery, or deceit to get their way.
    Need for admiration
Malignant narcissists may constantly need praise or admiration and may brag or exaggerate their accomplishments to get it.
    Arrogance
Malignant narcissists may be arrogant and loud, and may look down on people they feel are inferior to them.
    Entitlement
Malignant narcissists may have a sense of entitlement and may expect special treatment or compliance.

I don't quite understand this animus towards the Trumps. Perhaps they lack the refinement of old money. Maybe they are somewhat crass in their display of wealth.
But these aren't character flaws. They are superficial details.
A simple comparison of the Biden children to the Trimp offspring gives a more clear picture of the contrast between these two families. Of fruit not falling far from their family trees. God bless him, but Hunter leads a sordid lifestyle.

It is healthy to have a number of psychiatric and psychological associations, because wherever there is a monopoly in human life, inevitably, there are problems from the sole provider dominance. Furthermore, the World Mental Health Coalition, by its title, appears to include psychiatry, psychology, and other mental health disciplines under one umbrella.

In my humble opinion Dr. Bandy Lee should take my “course” because it examines the root of all of these problems and offers up solutions to them. Although my course includes a multitude of topics that are all related one of the main themes is the fact that if we were smart as a species we would avoid allowing malignant narcissists to get into positions of ultimate power. Among the people I cite in the “class” that examines this phenomenon is Brian Klaas. I also cite M. Scott Peck, Frank Yeomans, and Jason Stanley. (I might add that many of the reasons we should avoid the type of thing I just noted apply to AI)…

I am so sorry for the crickets Dr. Lee received from her colleagues. It's amazing to me how little courage is shown in this situation. She is a highly courageous person. I'm doing everything I can to distribute short, readable posts about various details that can help educate the public. I'm developing a series of posts highlighting positive attributes that Kamala Harris embodies in complete contrast to the most negative traits of Trump. I'm hoping this will help sway people away from Trump.
Here is an example: Trump has a background of sexual assault which is well known. Here is a post I put together to sway the public towards Harris and against Trump in this area:
HARRIS FIGHTS SEXUAL VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN: As a prosecutor, Kamala Harris specialized in prosecuting sexual assault cases and defending the rights of women and children. Within her very first year as the Attorney General of California she eliminated the rape kit backlog of more than 1000 cases in the state lab. She prosecuted human trafficking cases, prioritized victim support services for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and human trafficking. She established the Bureau of Children's Justice to better protect children from exploitation. Harris is an international leader in this area. www.c-span.org/video/?536445-1/vice-president-harris-remarks-conflict-related-sexual-violence#

The "crickets" are a misinterpretation of the nonscientific intrusion by some involved in social dominance orientations who exerted financial and other influences, into the APA, which , along with those dominance-oriented, actually contacted both media and acted against other professionals who sought to publicize behavioral signals easily observed even by the untrained.
Yale, as other private Universities, and public Universities which function under influences of "Regents", are influenced by wealthy alumni.
It appears that most of the public is unaware of the political machinations that cause difficulties and firings of outspoken scientists.
A look at the character of some alumni in Yale, Harvard, might enlighten many as to the failure of integrity occurring in such manipulation of MANY, who like Dr. Lee, though in other disciplines, were removed by destructive politicians elected by anti-intelligence, anti-social, and theocratic groups and coalitions.
I think of SEVERAL prominent researchers who were actually fired due to repeatedly scientifically-corroborated research, experiments, findings.
I AM pleased, though that you engage in prosocial advocacy. Being, if only myself, of moderate intelligence (and research has pretty much shown how small is the true variation among our obligate social species when significant impairment does not occur through genetic or traumatic etiologies), recognize such important variations as that of which Dr Lee has been involved and speaks.
I find Dr Lee's advocacy to be of extreme importance, and she interfaces with the public very well, not "talking down" as so many are overly encouraged to do. It is her long career interfacing with the public as well as administrators and policymakers, whether in Africa, in US prisons, or in the United Nations and WHO, that make her particularly suited to deliver the resulting message of her work in understanding violence as well as how it proliferates through a contagion-like process.
When we immerse ourselves within a closed, dogmatic group, we fall prey to becoming our worst.
I was surprised that she is religious, and able to avoid similar consequent problems herself. Her clarity of mind outside that particular cognitive error, is astonishing to anyone who has a strong education in the general fields of neuroscience, psychology, biology, development in humans & other species, and the history of these disciplines.

Haha I had to laugh about the line and I’m not referring to the wonderful doctor but in general when Brandy said “a responsibility to patients and also a responsibility to society” not in my experience. At all. I don’t think people understand our healthcare system is collapsing & access to care is poor and mega corporations that make 1000 doctor practices and the corps own those doctors. It’s very predatory and even worse for the patient. Our country in general is in failure unless you live in a bubble you should be feeling that pretty acutely.

As the interview progresses we can infer that he is involved in research, apparently on rodent behavioral models.
It is his paucity of vocabulary for someone who runs a lab - hires postdocs, that astonishes. The efforts of probably Dr Mattson in attempting to craft a useful youtube channel may involve some overextension of his days or his abilities.
As even undergrad and postgrad individuals appear more conversant or more able to use their native language, we may infer that he engaged in this in desperation, a desperation similar to that of any intelligent individual over the public descent into mutually , positive feedback looping, increase in systemic perturbation - discord, in the case of human group interactions.
Complex dynamical systems (and really all nature and the universe are such systems) can be perturbed. by initially tiny factors which are not controlled, or may be exogenous to the system involved (though, finally, NO closed system exists.).
The brain of ANY organism is evolved only through the success of previous adaptations to the system in which it develops. While some selection is honed through repeated exposure to novel stimuli, to favor more overarching, or general adaptations, individuals remain subject to the limited experiences to which they are previously born adapted.
Human communication is an adaptation that must be continually updated, just as brains, beliefs, and responses must be continually updated. Mattson's channel may be quite new, and consequently his naivete' in processing information not yet developed into coherence. Think of a runner versus a ballet dancer - he may not have had interest outside his previous life interests, OR exposure to subjects or even social variations . This is always a problem with narrowly circumscribed interests or disciplines.
I really had thought he was a journalist of some type - i have mistaken some other professors attempting to rush toward a preconceived goal, or formulating naive questions , as nonprofessionals.
Just look at his confusions and interruptions as being involved with arousal beyond the optimum.
I notice that the comment column HAS attracted some REALLY deluded individuals whose antisocial goals, sop easily inferred, are INTENTIONAL in causing overarousal, and consequent dementia. THAT illustration well describes the followers of trump or any fascist or other social dominance orientation. Dr? Mattson is merely , as i said, obviously overaroused
(the reversion to inaccurate gene-environment dichotomous illusion is an indicator. Genes produce proteins, differentially selected by different influences, silencings, stimuli, in a system so complex that such oversimplification induces individuals to believe that they understand, when only long study brings discovery of the adaptive coherence of the underlying system in biological organisms. Surely Dr Mattson knows this, but reverts to misattributive heuristic - cognitive errors - due to his anxiety about the impending election of such a completely unfit and destructively aberrant individual!) .
