Robert is amazing as Freddy, loved your reaction to this movie. Fun fact though Robert once fell asleep in his trailer with the makeup on and when he woke up he saw Freddy in the mirror and freaked out until he relized it was just him haha.
You should see number 3 that one has Nancy there as well and number 7 has her as the actress and Nancy as well a movie within a movie type of thing. Number 6 gives more info about Freddy's past and how he became a dream demon as well. This one was actually Johnny's first ever movie which is interesting.
The ending confused me too,I think it's a dream within a dream sort of thing.

If you were wondering about what movie Nancy was watching it was called The Evil Dead (1981)' you should add that one to your watch list and of course Friday The 13th (1980). Simply because its part of the holy trio of famous slasher films, two down one to go and of course all the sequels from each franchise as well!

The answer to your confusion is very simple, it was all a dream.
The entire film was a dream, even when you think they are awake, still a dream. That's why the real world and the dream world seemed to blend, because there never was any real world. That's what Nancy realized near the end "I know the secret now. You're not alive, this whole thing is just a dream."

Ok so the ending turned out the way it did, because it was technically rushed. The original ending was that Nancy did indeed destroy Freddy with that speech. But it turned out the way it did, because they wanted to pave away for a possible sequel because it was their first movie and they didn't know where it was going to go, as far as being successful. Wes Craven didn't plan on a sequel at all.
Obviously with the ending it worked out, despite how it turned out and how confused most people were by it. To sum it up, the whole Nancy pulling Freddy out of her dream, never happened. That was Freddy playing with her, the whole time. This movie was based on being challenged on knowing what's real and what's not. Not going to give away the sequels but Freddy has that power to tamper with reality for each kill that he gets. They go into details in the sequels, if you choose to react. Which believe me, its completely worth it, cause it gets better.🔥🔥🔥🙌

I'm a little late watching this. But if you want more old confusing horror from the time when they actually made horror movies with kids as the target audience, you should watch the Phantasm series. The first movie is from 1979.
I like it when this type of movie (supernatural horror) is a little confusing and don't tell the audience everything. Imagine how it would be if it happened to you. You wouldn't understand half of it, and probably not believe most of it. If you know all the answers from the start, you are just watching it and judging the protagonists on whether they are taking the right or wrong actions, with no surprises on the result.

Great reaction, but 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' is from 1984. 'Halloween' was made in 1978!!

11:52 Now let's establish _this_ point. The _main_ thing that makes a movie a _horror_ flick is not the behavior of the _monster_ or the _killer,_ because there are monsters and killers in action flicks as _well._ What makes it a _horror_ flick is the behavior of the _other_ people.
_A Nightmare on Elm Street_ is a _horror_ flick because, yes, there are _scary_ parts. By and large, though, it pissed me _off_ when I saw it. My main thought was _nothing_ along the lines of, "My god. Freddy is really _scary."_ No. It was more along the lines of, "My god. The officers in this department are _idiots!"_
And in this scene, we see one _illustration_ of that fact. Rod Lane is in custody under suspicion of his girlfriend's _murder._ Why have they left him alone? It's the standard procedure of _most_ police departments to have whoever's in custody also under _watch._ Someone from the department should be _in_ the room, standing _sentry._

      16:01 "Glen, you bastard!"
      "What? Wha'd I do?"
      "You fell asleep."
Glen is _another_ example. Apparently, he thought he could _sit down_ and stay _awake._ But there's a _reason_ the activity in question is called _"standing_ watch." You spend it on your _feet._

17:06 And here is one reason for the _sentry._ A sentry would see this _happening._ If nothing else, he could then testify that Rod's death was not a _suicide._ The residents of Springwood would then know that they're under _assault._

      27:25 "Everything's gonna be _alright!"_
See? Idiots. Bumbling incompetents. When someone calls 911, it's to tell the authorities that they need _help._ _Not_ to have those authorities reply that, actually, they _don't._
