Based off a suggestion, I chrome wrapped the entire panel including the lock area (but, I'm on a search for metal chrome panels to replace the vinyl, suggestions appreciated - flat panels with no logos): imgur.com/gallery/iHjDmMd
Hello jerry, after your modifications to the continental gt I decided to buy one because I loved the design of the bike, only the rear part of it which I didn't like and with the modifications you made inspired me and I did it on my gt too and now it can be both more sporty and more classic in minutes so thank you! After watching your videos I was inspired and in addition to the modifications to the rear of the bike I made a single seater for the double seat that can be removed for a pillion to use and installed as a front fairing on the bike. I'm from Brazil and I really like going on long trips and the Continental GT is not very comfortable for long trips, so in addition to the modifications to the rear of the bike, I also changed the handlebars to the silver Himalayan handlebars, which made the bike much more comfortable for long trips. , and keeping the style. Thanks again for the videos, they are very good, congratulations.
Yes, I think the chrome looks better also. I went ahead and did both sides chrome and also chrome wrapped the smaller triangle section below the panels.
Yeah i think the black one is better, now that you have chrome headlight cowl too ,it would be too much chrome/flashy with the chrome side panel, just my opinion. Please keep making videos like this❤
I just put the MK version on my bike a few weeks ago after seeing them on MotoMitch's channel. I agree with you, and I wish they didn't have the MK logo on them, but they look way way better than stock. Thanks for all your vids, I learned an awful lot about the GT650 from your channel.
I agree... the headlight cover is a compromise based on my current use of the bike and not my ideal preference (it's actually the opposite of what I eventually want.) Someday I'd like to remove the gauges, put a smaller headlight, simple controls, etc... but since this is my only motorcycle and I like to go on long trips, I find the cover is more practical for covering and protecting my phone, cameras, usb plugs, cables, etc... all things you don't want on a cafe racer style bike.
i have the same raw & rugged sidebags and ran into the exact issue. after a year, the elastic was super stretchy and loose. i emailed the company and they did replace them for free though! they said the newer batches have a better elastic (although tbh it doesnt look any different to me so i cant confirm whether thats true)
Hey Jerry, thanks buddy. I have had my Royal, this season will my my 3rd season. I have Autologue Design Half fairing (Reck 2.1) looks great but really bad design not recommended but now that is one it looks good, Anyway I was looking at side panels and same with you, I don't like logos on my side panels and I was wonder in terms of the BAAK do I want the stainless or black after seeing your vid black is what I'm going with for the Air filter side. The tool box side I'm going with the Royal Enfield side bag, in Brown it also bolts on to the bottom part of the original side panel and has a hole in it for the seat release so to release the seat you just reach in to the bag and pull the button or leaver whatever its called. I like what you have done with your RE it looks good I bought the Ventura blue but ended up buying a black and gold Gas tank for it so the bike is all black and gold kind of has the look of an old Norton or at least that is the look I'm aspiring too. I also have a Booster plug and Emgo Hooligan exhaust and a High flow air filter, I have many bikes but I have really come to love my RE GT 650 as much as my RD and my Bonneville so basic so versatile so unique at least in Canada and mostly I love how simple it is, No rider modes, no fancy stuff just a bike :-). Thanks for talking the time to make the vid, I hope you get lots of views and I'll share this on RE Canada FB site some of the guys may want to see this if they are stuck with the same dilemma. Cheers Karl
Thanks for the comment - yes, one of the things I love is how simple the bike is and easy to customize yourself (also, a thrill to ride without having to got over the speed limit... well, maybe a little ;) Since this video I went and bought the brushed aluminum side panels from Baak and had them polished. I liked the look of the chrome but didn't like the look of the vinyl. More recent photo imgur.com/a/893T0Gr
I take the bike on long trips and I found the headlight cover useful for practical reasons... but I agree, it's not what I prefer on a cafe racer. Someday, if I get another motorcycle for longs trips, I want to strip down the front , remove the gauges, add simple controls, lower the clip-ons, and a smaller headlight and brackets.
I liked the black more than the chrome and I was wondering why!!? It's odd because I have been fancying a full chrome GT 650. And it is not due to the orange peel texture because I could barely make any difference between vinyl and stainless steel on the tank on the TH-cam video (due to loss of quality on mid to long-range shots). I'm pretty sure it is the awkward small black inverted triangle on the chrome(where you put your keys on) that throws things off. If you could vinyl that, I'm pretty sure things would be much better, and a fair chance for Chrome.
Hi Jerry really helpful videos i really like that you just do it without knowing everything good job love the side leather bags wondering if you have any suggestions on working with raw and rough trying to get get ordered 15 days ago messaged 2 times no reply no no shipping notification or tracking number if you're not able to help no worries don't know what to do thought you could shed some light
Hi jerry, I can see the BAAK is much more expensive than Mk, BAAK side panels for each side has to be bought separately where as MK sells together. Would like to know if you bought the panel separately left and right.
Based off a suggestion, I chrome wrapped the entire panel including the lock area (but, I'm on a search for metal chrome panels to replace the vinyl, suggestions appreciated - flat panels with no logos): imgur.com/gallery/iHjDmMd

Black is my preference.

Chrome is awesome
Yes, I also like the chrome look. After this video I bought the Baak brushed aluminum panels and had them polished. i.imgur.com/3a471O9.jpeg
chrome!

Yes, I found a few side panels that I liked, except for the big logo!
honesty the headlight cowl looks very big, stock look was nice

Beautyful ride!❤

Thanks - I'll have to contact them and give that a try. See if I can get a new set!
on my monitor the chrome one is awesome.
Parabéns... ficou linda ... ótimo trabalho 😊😊😊😊😊
Obrigado, agradeço o comentário!

i wish the headlight kit could be removed it just doesnt really go well with it,in my opinion. And the chrome side panels would really go well.

That's an idea...I may try to chrome wrap the lock part of the panel just to see how it looks.
Took your suggestion and chrome wrapped the entire piece imgur.com/gallery/iHjDmMd
Chrome parts if needed or Chrome paint(which is expensive also)
Great video, thank you. Where is your seat and cowl from pls ?
Got both the seat and cowl from eBay
Touring seat: ebay.us/w1Fsrs
Chrome Cowl: ebay.us/Qi3GFC
Hi mate, nice bike! How did you paint in black the royal enfield logo?
Hey have you tried to polish and compound the chrome panel ?
Thanks a lot for your video! But I have a question. Did you find a place to put the motorcycle tools? Maybe under the saddle?
Not yet. Haven't had time to work on the bike since then.

Did you get 8 order? I didn't have any issues.
Tripmachine now offers side panels, with mk design frames. Baak is always number 1 though 👌✌️
This is so awesome
Hi jerry, I can see the BAAK is much more expensive than Mk, BAAK side panels for each side has to be bought separately where as MK sells together. Would like to know if you bought the panel separately left and right.
Don't you think the Baak number plate would look good on your bike?
Well, perhaps a pair of each is the best solution ;) I thought BAAK provides an original chrome one...
They sell a "brushed" side panel. Not sure if it could be polished to a chrome like shine... maybe I'll give it a try.
Is tubeless still okay?
Yes, over a year and still good 👍
Thank you. Drive safely
just get a metal chrome panel
I couldn't find one I liked... all the slim side panels in chrome that I found had logos on them (RE, MK, ...)
