Excellent review once again David! I would love a pair of these. In fact I have been trying to save up for ages, but with a Wife, Son, Twin Teenage Girls! and two Golden Retrievers I am always last in line and there’s never enough $$$ left at the end of the month. At the moment I only have noise cancelling earbuds as which I find too dangerous as they also cancel awareness. Favourite stuff to listen to is anything with a heavy repetitive bass. 120-130 bpm matches a nice cadence.
Love your videos. Keep up the great work!

Great review. The older I get, the more I think music of the 70's and 80's, even up to the turn of the century, was fun, upbeat, motivational and better when it came down to melodies and lyrics. The are my "go to" playlists when I go out and ride. And I totally agree with you: music does help on a ride when it is starting to hurt. Cheers.

David I’ve used these for about 6 months now and I swear by them. The older ones so the base isn’t amazing but overall they are great. Love that I can hear everything going on around me and then they keep me company when I’m out exploring the lonely countryside. My favourite music to listen on my journeys is all the best music scores from films 🍿 classic and peaceful then when they get going so do my legs. Top review David 👍

Great channel and review. I'm a 70's and 80's rock and blues type of guy but found myself listening to Andrea Bocelli Greatest Hits lately while riding. Crazy as it sounds it reaches my soul as I slip through the wind on my road bike.

  • @ntriiris

Nice review with honesty and relative to real world use, not just marketing description and claims. The idea of listening to music and the road sounds is brilliant, safer and more relaxing for me.
My favorite music for cycling is ambient chill out for easy rides and electronic trance for greater effort.

David, always enjoy your channel and the content you provide! I do a lot of endurance road bike rally's, Grand Fondo type of events here in North Texas. I don't listen to music, but what I do like is using the app Ride with GPS (only comes with the paid for version) voice, turn by turn directions. Sometimes I don't here my Wahoo Bolt beep of upcoming turns, and or I may be in a fast group and concentrating on that. I tried a different type of product, but can't really hear it, and in ear type of ear buds even just using one, not something I am going to use on the road. Again, thanks for your contribution to the cycling community!

That my joint...i don't enjoy cycling as much as when i rock n roll...literally. These sound like the ultimate audio music bone phones. I've been riding with ear phones since the 70's. No problem, i can hear car tires approaching from the rear. Using corded ear phones is a choir. I really hate when a turn of the head causes the ear piece to slips out. I'm 75 yrs old n do over a hundred miles a week, averGing 1550 feet a climbing each ride. My best music choice has to be Larry Levan Live at the infamous PARADISE GARAGE...the real house/disco/club music. It's more thans just sounds, it rhythm, messages, beats, sounds with words n more. Introductory vid should be PARADISE GARAGE STREET PARTY. This is the secret of my speed and longevity. Great site...thanks so much bro.

Great video again, thanks. I’ve never listened to music while riding - living in India 🇮🇳 normal headphones are just not safe - I need to be aware of the crazy traffic 🚚, holy cows 🐄 and rabid dogs 🐕 ! These however seem like they might be the solution! As for music Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” might be apt after many hours in the saddle!

Thanks David Arthur, I've been waiting for someone to post a video that points bone conductive earphones and as a bonus you quoting and actual brand too in the light of them being SAFE to use whilst riding a bike. Despite many other youtubers claiming bone conductive earphones in general can distract and block outside ambient audio just as much as any other type of personal earphone devices.

I have the predecessor headset Aeropex and their sister OpenComm (with boom mic). I love them. I have a big neck and they're still comfortable, but I think they would move on smaller heads and necks - they now make a small band version. They're so comfortable I wear them all day and forget I have them on most of the time. For cycling, as said wind and road noise are still there, but that's a feature, not a bug. You can still be aware of what's around you, but don't be fooled. If you're listening to music, you still might not be able to hear people talk to you and you'll still shout back 🙂

I have had aftershockz headphones for a few years now. I wear them when running, and like that I can hear what's around me whilst still getting good sound quality. However when I tried them on my bike I wasn't comfortable with them as I feel when cycling I need my hearing senses a lot more to be safe on the road than I need running on the pavement.

Thanks for the review I use the prior version and I have had the same experience with high noise. I found a fabulous app called tangerine and it analyses music and adds the BPM of the track to the meta data so I can sort tracks into beats per minute to match my cadence which is fantastic

I have the aero version of these and they are fantastic, I love the sound, it’s amazing. I have a fat head, size large or XL in most helmets and it fits me fine, I hardly know I have it on. I agree that you have to remember to turn it off, but even that process is easy, and I love how quickly and easily it connects to my iPhone, would love the latest version.
Currently using emotional rescue and tattoo you albums as my riding tracks, if I had to pick one tracks for your playlist I’d suggest start me up, it’s great to get the heart pumping at the start of the ride. 😀👍

I will have to pick up a pair of these I think, music is something I do want with me when I'm traveling. Whether driving, motorcycling, or bicycling. Motorcycle helmets are becoming more integrated with tech like blue tooth speakers. The ability to have your ears unplugged from buds and hear the surrounding noises is important. Noise-cancelling is also threat awareness-cancelling. I enjoy upbeat, instrumental music while riding. Arc De Soleil is nice, Khruangbin also. I have a couple spanish-style guitarists I like also, Estas Tonne and Herensuge.

Thanks again David for another great video & review of these headphones! At the mo I am liking a bit of Calvin Harris to keep me motivated on the bike! I get my pedal stroke synced to the beat! :)

There’s something about Imagine Dragons that gets me going when I’m doing a workout! Great bass and awesome thumping music really sets the mood for a solid workout

💫David, while riding I love to hear motivational speech, but in beast mode. 😆 For example, David Gogins. 💪🏻

Just wondering, how do these earbuds fair with people who wear prescription glasses with ear hooks? I’m concerned that the earbuds would interfere with my glasses 😬

    Great review!
I have been using the last 2 generations of aftershokz for my exercise/cycling and they are really good!
My favourite song when pushing hard on the bike is Linkin park "in the end " + loop the whole hybrid theory album 👍🏻:)

I listen to podcasts about cycling while riding my bike. It keeps me motivated. If there is no podcast, I like to listen to pounding techno. I like the beat, you just ride harder automatically without realising it 😅

David, I have a cheaper brand of this style of headphones and while the music listening option is great I find them terrible if I take a call while riding, as the wind noise can be horrendous. So how do these higher-end models handle the wind through the microphone when taking a call.
