There was a $700 console in the 90s; the 3DO I believe it was called. And any fanboy defending the price and making the claim it’s better than even the best PCs is in complete denial of how the company they simp for doesn’t give two Trevors about them. Trying to give them a reality check is next to impossible.
I believe there is another much more expensive console in the 90s as well called the Philips CD-i, it's was about $1000 at the time of 1992. When to adjust that for inflation, that's about $2250.
I bought one of those for $700. Never defended it but I think I was gaming better than if I was on PC. PC gaming was all its own sht back then. No console games on it.
The reason the 3do was so expensive was because it was licenced to 3rd party companies to manufacture. Those third party manufacturers couldn't make up production costs with software sales, so they had to charge so much for the hardware. It was a bad business model that ultimately killed the console. Sony, on the other hand, have no excuse for charging this much.

Everything about this video is giving highschooler who knows tech words but doesn’t really understand what any of it means, who probably isn’t allowed to have a gaming PC.
It wasn't. Scalpers wouldn't buy things they can't sell. The portal had negative feedback before launch so scalpers wouldn't buy crazy big numbers out of fear of no one wanting it. They probably bought more after people started buying them but that shows people were buying them.
It's bullshit that the PS5 Pro didn't even come with a disc and you have to pay over $100 for it, but it's disgusting that Jaydub and TheRedDragon tried to flex that it's disc drive was selling out...
And add to that disc drives were sold out recently and are out of stocks ... so eitheir scalpers doing the thing again (which i dont think so) or Sony limited supply so people go full digital.
I think they probably increased the RDNA2 CU's without using RDNA 3. That will make it in rasterization being an RX6800. If they used RDNA3 then it will an RX7800. BUT they used RDNA4 ray tracing cores that gives much better ray tracing than what AMD could do until now. So basically is a hybrid. Also they have a custom chip that does PSSR upscaling that is much better than FSR and will also save the GPU from the load of doing upscaling etc. So all in all the performance of the GPU i see it been between a 4070 and a 4070Ti.
@@SIPEROTHI think it will be around a 4060ti 16GB / 7700xt. I had a OC’d 4070 last year and that thing was a beast and destroys playstation in raw performance.

@@jcgamer1650 Well yeah it doesn't have 120 either. But you can add vsync to any refresh rate you want, I mentioned vsync because it adds input lag. Most console games don't let you turn that off.
I don´t understand exactly why but if you play on both Console and PC (in my case Series X and PC) the games just look better on PC. Anything you run on high settings 60fps will beat pretty much any game on the console. And it doesn´t matter if it is 1080p either. 1080p monitor high settings 60FPS >> 4k 60 fps on console. Everything just look A LOT crisper.
@@gamble777888 Yeah, that's true isn't it? Could be due to a few things. 1. TV is likely running things through a smoothing filter. 2. Console games don't usually use high settings. They're usually around medium. 3. Today's consoles run games at a lower internal resolution, then scale to the output resolution. Whereas most PC games will just run at the resolution you tell it. Newer games have a lot of these scaling options too but you don't have to use them.
It’s crazy to think my $1,500 I built 2 years ago will be cheaper than a PS5, PS+, and a PS6 in the long run. Within my PC lifespan that is. If you're an existing PS5 owner planning to upgrade to a PS5 Pro, then $700 isn't the starting point for PC comparisons. Let's say you've owned a PS5 for 2 years & now want to buy a Pro. Here's your cost: - PS5: $500 - 2 years of PS+: $160 - PS5 Pro: $700 - Disk Drive & Stand: $110 (Optional) *TOTAL: $1,470* If you plan to trade in your PS5 towards the Pro, we can deduct $200. If you don't want to be able go just your physical games anymore, we can deduct another $80. So then you're left with having spent $1,190 pre-tax for just Playstation consoles, now without the UHD playback & ability to play physical games. Alright, now show me what $1,200 gets you with a PC & tell me that's not better than what you've wasted to get a Pro.
My build was around $1000. I have an AMD 7600 Graphics card and an AMD 5 5600x with 32 gigabytes of RAM and 2 terabytes of storage on an SSD. I even bought a custom cooler and, while my machine doesn’t have a disc drive, it can run most modern games at max settings at a stable 60 fps.
And 4k is perhaps the biggest grift ever in terms of graphics, outdone only by Ray Tracing. It's so obviously preferable to shoot for higher performance than native 4k textures and the INSANE resource hog that is ray tracing, an effect which basically does not improve the gaming experience in any way and certain times looks outright ridiculous and objectively worse than other lighting techniques.
Anybody who goes shopping retail PC-parts online with a "lowest price filter" can build a 750$ PC equal to PS5 PRO (and having even more RAM overall)....add 250 $ and you are massiveley outperforming it already (oh and you can add a Discdrive). That lady at beginning of the video has absolutley no idea what she is talking about. She did not even try to check the retail prices for PC stuff or she was lazy and selected some custom designs with higher pricetags.
There was a post elsewhere and based on it, I did the math based on my country’s retail prices. Lmao, that literally was "PS5 bro is better than a 4090, source: Trust me bro". This is the old tale to never end, whenever a new console arrives, it'll be "PC killer", to then realize is not even half as powerful and they claimed. Consoles are starting to yield diminishing returns. New consoles are more and more expensive, even needing a refresh in the middle of their lifetime, all to be a slight upgrade over the other. At this time we're all better waiting to save to buy/build/upgrade a gaming PC, like me. I hope I get some nice deals this Black Friday

I get tired of all the mental inflation coming from the PS5 peeps. Think my 4070, 2 T M.2, 32 gig RAM, CPU I think was around $300, still only ran me ~$1600 and its going to crap on the PS5 Pro for years to come. It's not $2000.
Last i checked a 4090 was not playing games at 30fps as standard. We pc gamers out here cranking out up to 200+ fps on many games with an average of 90-120 fps on the 4090.
Consoles and PC’s are played differently so comparisons are always going to be flawed. Consider that the PS5 pro wouldn’t even benefit the bulk of players because the TV sizes are not high enough to make noticeable difference in image clarity and that console payers would be more willing to use frame gen as responsiveness for controllers is not as impactful.
I am a playstation fanboy (or is "was" correct now?) and PS5 Pro is not 4070 let alone 4080 LMAO 😂. It is more like Radeon RX 7700 XT not even 7800. Also it's funny that everyone says 4k 60 fps with ray-tracing when both Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Rachet & Clank run at 1440p 60 fps (with Ray-tracing) on the PS5 Pro.
more and more info coming out for the ps5 pro just shows it is a more expensive ps5 we are learning that we are still going to get 30fps games so that means you will still have to choose either fidelity mode or performance mode for some games on pro. They showed hogwarts legacy at 4k with ray tracing on and you know what fps it was running at 30fps so once again lies, lies, and more lies from sony.
Actually its an extra $300 because the all digital PS5 at launch was $399 and the one with the disc drive was $499. I refuse to pay $699 for an all digital pro or an $800 when you add the disc drive. I didn't want to nit pick on that
Love the Super Mario Land theme. And I wont lie. I bought the collector's edition of Spider-man 2 and the Spider-man 2 Ps5 bundle. That bundle was $600. But you got the disc drive, a vertical stand, and a copy of a $70 game. But PS5 Pro makes no sense if you already bought a PS5. The gains are not enough. And they say 4k at 60fps. You wont be getting 4k at 60fps when the CPU is the same. So games that are CPU bound on thr original they will be capped at 30fps on pro as well. You need a hell of a PC rig to even hit 4k 60fps. They should be prioritizing 1080p at 60fps. The thing is the devs will be able to choose to do 60fps or not. If you have a base ps5? You will still get a decent experience. But at the price of the pro? You may as well get a PC. And if this person thinks they will get $300 for their PS5? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 You will be lucky to get $150 from gamestop.

I love how people see specs like 4K 60FPS and Ray Tracing, and honest to goodness think the PS5 Pro will do all that simultaneously. I think my favourite though, was when Sony was touting 8K on their box, because the HDMI 2.1 spec can handle up to 8K 120FPS streams...
42 yo here. Besides the mentioned Panasonic 3DO there also was the SNK Neo-Geo for around $700 in the 90s but this was literally arcade hardware for the living room, so for the time it was state of the art. Also there was the Amiga CD32 here in Europe it retailed the equivalent of $500 - 600 was an absolute flop and ruined Commodore for good. But every reasonable console was between $199 (SNES/SEGA) - $299 (PS1) then.
Pioneer's Laseractive console from 1993 cost a whopping $1000. The RDI Halcyon from 1985 was $2,500 (equivalent to $7,100 in 2024) and sported a Zilog Z80 CPU that powered the Gameboy
Sony promised 4k 60fps on the ps5. So no one had to beg for it. Sony lied per usual. Waited 4 years to drop the actual ps5 we should have gotten in 2020 for 500 bucks. Purposely leaving out the disc drive as well. Any Sony fanboy should be fucking pissed at the principle of it all. Yet they bend over and get excited about it.
There is one advantage that consoles have over PCs, especially if said PC uses Windows 11. There is no pointless resource hogging. Even when you disable and uninstall all the bloatware and resource eating settings that annoy can do without intimate knowledge of PC workings, there are still things that will randomly try to steal resources while playing a game and cause slow-downs (mainly on Windows): The damn hyper paranoid Anti-Malware Executable, Security System doing a random scan of the computer (even sometimes when you set settings that should stop it from doing so), programs that run in the background after you close them, and diagnostic data thing that you need to do some hackery to either make nonfunctional or disable, Windows trying to run an unprompted update unless you disable its ability to do so and need to mainly run and check for updates. You'll still be hovering around 25% to 35% CPU usage when you are doing nothing or 40 to 45% if your computer decides to be cruel that day. Does this mean that the PS5/PS5 Pro is better than a $2000 PC? No! PC always have the advantage of technically having no limit in customization with the only real limit being your wallet size and your knowledge of PC hardware and software.

The PS5 Pro reminds me a lot of the Sega Genesis, the Genesis was $189.00 in 1989 which is roughly $460 now which seems reasonable considering the SNES was about the same price. However, the real bad things where that it add-ons; the 32x which was 159.99 which is $356, and the Sega CD which was $299 which now is $670. These add-on's made the whole console look completely insane. Sony seems to be running the gambit of "gamers will buy this horrible box and add-ons".
The console in the 90s you're thinking of I believe was the Phillips CD-i. That thing was priced around $800 if I recall correctly. And yeah, it failed wonderfully.

The Fact Dee Batch compared the GPU to a fucking 4070 or 7900 XT in terms of power. Like what the fuck…. The PS5 Pro is compared to 3060 or maybe a 3070. But not a 4000 series and that CPU is going to Bottle neck the fuck out of it.
a 4070 is worse in performance then a 3080 so the 4000 series aint that great just saying the only really good card from the 4000 series is the 4090 why people say its almost as a 4070 performance wise in a ps5 pro is because of the upgraded ray tracing and the ai upscaler which should work just as nvidia ai upscaler dlss
The system costs more than my gaming PC, mind you I got it second hand about a year ago and plan to upgrade it more eventually but still prefer paying $700 (CAD) for the base and having the option to upgrade whenever I want to over possibly having to buy an upgraded console every few years. Mind you I used to be mainly console but ever since being able to get a decent gaming PC everything just feels better to me (alot more options of things to do on it) not hating on consoles but long gone the days of buying a console at $300-$400 that last's 10+ years and was still playable I feel which is unfortunate, never thought I'd see the day that a gaming console reaching 1K especially not one that's not a new gen.
3DO from 1993 and the Neo Geo console from 1991 were both $700. CDI's from 1991 cost up to $700 with graphics worse than a SNES. Pioneer's Laseractive console from 1993 cost a whopping $1000. Wait that's a flat out lie in the video (color me surprised) ... the console does NOT have RDNA 4 graphics.... It has RDNA 1.5 GPU the same as the original PS5 because the APU is EXACTLY the same. The only major differences are the clock speeds (which they unlocked) and adding faster RAM. I mean I'm shocked, shocked I say that they lied ... ok not so shocked.
The PS5 is a custom rdna 2 GPU with some missing rdna 2 features and some rdna 3 features. The pro is rdna 3 with machine learning and Ray tracing improvements from rdna 4.
@@Eliilizz108 See I'm not sure about that and it flies counter to what they are doing. Because the RDNA component of the chip is baked into the APU so in reality; they can't just say it's magically now RDNA3 or 4. But they could with some software wizardry and some upclocks improve the performance. The chip itself has not changed at all. Remember on the consoles (and some of the mini-PC's and handhelds - the GPU is baked into the CPU hence APU).
The voice in the OP video sounds like "Ashley." She does come across as a bit of a PlayStation shill. Funny how she says the Pro isn't expensive while also admitting she's broke and can't afford one.

Meanwhile me saving up for a year to build a pc for I think about 2k$. Given the games I play, no chance I'm going to have to replace anything for years to come and still will be able to play at highest settings... And it's not limited by some Sony nonsense.
you also didn't mention the fact that with frame generation technology, which the ps5 pro still doesn't have and has image scaling instead, we are gonna be doubling and tripling our framerates on pc and actually can have stable 4k 60 fps or 1080p/1440p 140 fps or higher on the actual resolutions while they will be stuck on fake image scaled resolutions and can't even have 60fps with raytracing. even a rx 7600 is gonna have better fps than those ps5 pro gpus.

In my opinion console's these days eight and nine gen consoles are not the same as the seven gen or older consoles, basically if you truly compare both them you'll notice the big difference such as: - Seven or older gen you put in the disc or cartridge just play the game but if there's an update you download and once done play, eight and nine gen you have to install the game first before you play it so it's like waiting to your game is done like on the PC. - Seven or older gen were more cheaper than gaming PC to the point you just want to get the console to play game, in a long run it's cheaper just to get a mid-range PC then eight and nine gen consoles. - Seven or older gen were more focus on physical media, now the console's these days are trying to go to digital media and I think the slowly did it with the eight gen while they try to speed it up with a nine gen to the point that, when the ten gen comes out they will try all digital media. - Seven or older gen had some really good exclusives and when I mean really good it was those exclusives withdraw you in to the point that you want to get both consoles, eight and nine gen exclusives are coming to the PC. - Seven or older gen are free to play online without a membership unless your on Xbox, eight and nine gen has memberships that you have to pay for to be able to play online and the membership is grossly overpriced. - Seven or older gen was never about who had the best graphics it was about who had the best games that you could just play, eight and nine gen that they tried to push who has the best graphics to the point I would say this to people if you want the best graphics get a gaming PC. Basically to make a very simple to people I would say there is many ways to play PC gaming without using a desktop PC such as gaming laptops, handheld PCs like the steam deck that is in the same price range or bit cheaper than a console these days.

There was a $700 console in the 90s; the 3DO I believe it was called. And any fanboy defending the price and making the claim it’s better than even the best PCs is in complete denial of how the company they simp for doesn’t give two Trevors about them. Trying to give them a reality check is next to impossible.
700$ in 93 was 1500 dollars today. The PS5 isn't 1500 dollars.
The PS6 will be but we will burn that bridge when we get to it.
Don't forget the Neo Geo. I believe it was $800 or was it $1k.

So Sony put a $1,000 GPU in the PS5 Pro and charged $700 for it? There's being the clown, there's being the entire circus, then there's this.

If you're an existing PS5 owner planning to upgrade to a PS5 Pro, then $700 isn't the starting point for PC comparisons.
Let's say you've owned a PS5 for 2 years & now want to buy a Pro. Here's your cost:
- PS5: $500
- 2 years of PS+: $160
- PS5 Pro: $700
- Disk Drive & Stand: $110 (Optional)
*TOTAL: $1,470*
If you plan to trade in your PS5 towards the Pro, we can deduct $200.
Anyone who knows anything about PCs today can tell you the value for your dollar proposition is CLEARLY on the PC side right now.

I'm doing great because Marvel VS Capcom Fighting Collection released. The CD-i was $1000 back in the 90's.

That sounds about right.

yeah totaly not counting all the steam sales with 10-30eur games xD and gamepass.
Just buy the pro and then the ps6 and gonna keep paying to play online XD
@@Shadowclaw25 did I ever say I was defending the PS5 pro or did you just assume for some unknown reason to get a reaction
Dude pc fan boys crying over this is just hilarious. If you wanna the pro just buy it if not don’t. Pc Boy here needs his mama!
I am astonished by your stupidity
The Fact Dee Batch compared the GPU to a fucking 4070 or 7900 XT in terms of power. Like what the fuck…. The PS5 Pro is compared to 3060 or maybe a 3070. But not a 4000 series and that CPU is going to Bottle neck the fuck out of it.
a 4070 is worse in performance then a 3080 so the 4000 series aint that great just saying the only really good card from the 4000 series is the 4090
why people say its almost as a 4070 performance wise in a ps5 pro is because of the upgraded ray tracing and the ai upscaler which should work just as nvidia ai upscaler dlss
The other thing about building a comparable PC to the PS5 Pro...is you can use the PC for things outside of playing games.
3DO from 1993 and the Neo Geo console from 1991 were both $700. CDI's from 1991 cost up to $700 with graphics worse than a SNES. Pioneer's Laseractive console from 1993 cost a whopping $1000. The RDI Halcyon from 1985 was $2,500 (equivalent to $7,100 in 2024) and sported a Zilog Z80 CPU that powered the Gameboy
This isn't true at all, it's a new GPU aspect, with new RT features designed for RDNA4. Do your fucking research you gremlin
Funny how she says the Pro isn't expensive while also admitting she's broke and can't afford one.
there are a lot of videos by moors law is dead which talk about rdna4. in short summary, leaks seem to hint that the rx-8800xt is supposed to be on the level of the 4080 (raster) and 4070ti (raytracing) for around $600.
Ps5: oh look leaves on tree
Ps5 pro: oh look even more leaves on the tree
The ps5 fanboy ai voice gave me brain damage due to the sheer stupidity i might need to go to the hospital.....
The only reason the Portal sold out is probably because Sony made like 5 of them, and they are actually 7 people wanting them. For all intent and purpose, I've heard it sold out or sold above Sony expectations but they never said it have great sale with solid number.
Harman Smith most likely said the ps5 wouldn't sell well.
The price to performance argument goes right out the window when you include the cost of online over the life of the console.
5800x3d and 3080ti owner here this 1440p 144 fps thing ive done for years ffs
"But hey, Sony's got more coming". Really, where R the F'n games?!😂😂😂
Actually the PS5 Pro will be more than 700 if you think about such as the membership:
- Essential for 1 month £6.99/$9.99 if you pay monthly up to 1 year £83.88/$119.88, for 3 month £19.99/$24.99 if you pay every four months up to 1 year £79.96/$99.96, for 1 year £59.99/$79.99.
- Extra for 1 month £10.99/$14.99 if you pay monthly up to 1 year £131.88/$179.88, for 3 month £31.99/$39.99 if you pay monthly up to 1 year £127.96/$159.96, for 1 year £99.99/$134.99.
- Premium for 1 month £13.99/$17.99 if you pay monthly up to 1 year £167.88/$215.88, for 3 month £39.99/$49.99 if you pay monthly up to 1 year £159.96/$199.96, for 1 year £119.99/$159.99
- PS5 Pro Disc Drive £99.99/$80
- PS5 Pro vertical stand £24.99/$29.99
Basically if you do the calculations I have given you are paying more than 700 but if you factor in the games as well it will raise the price even more.
4k/60fps? Those are rookie numbers! I expect 10k/300FPS! C'MON SONY!
All the Ponies must taking it up the rear for how often they get ramped by Sony.
I'm not buying the stupid ps5 pro 😂
Basically, you're paying an extra 200$ just for better LOD distance rendering and slightly better graphics. And I never upgraded to a next gen console bc both are hella expensive. The most costly console I ever bought was the Switch OLED at 517$ CAD
whats with the janky spacemarine 2 in the background ? i played 20hours and had zero hickups and this video is full of it Oo
Though frame gen looks absolutely ass as it blurs the image and introduces a ton of input lag. Tbh console players actually not losing anything with not having it.
This guy talkin like Forest gump made me subscribe instantly
i love that their argument is that the $700 ps5 pro is better for the price then a HIGH END pc. however, they never mention the price to performance for a pc of the same price. for a tech company sony makes it hard to want to their consoles, especially with the games that have been coming out.
Since when consoles are supposed to be future-proof? Isn't the concept of generations the complete opposite of future-proof?
In my opinion console's these days eight and nine gen consoles are not the same as the seven gen or older consoles, basically if you truly compare both them you'll notice the big difference such as:
- Seven or older gen you put in the disc or cartridge just play the game but if there's an update you download and once done play, eight and nine gen you have to install the game first before you play it so it's like waiting to your game is done like on the PC.
As a PC player I do not care about graphics or ray tracing I play everything in low to medium settings so I can have better than 60fps
"advanced ray tracing that triples the speed of the current PS5"..... uhhhhh..... huh????
