Squatter and home owner stand-off | How I remove a squatter from my house

- One of the houses I was flipping a while back had a squatter move-in right in the middle of the selling process. Watch and you can see how the police are absolutely no help, and how I was able to deal with the situation, legally.
This cop is part of the problem. 7:32
Yes! Definitely
Yes. Referencing his "attitude"? He is the victim. That squatter is not a victim because if someone showed up with proof, as an occupant, I would be soooo humble.
Absolutely. Avoid calling them. There are 100 different ways to get them out
Cop prolly related to the squatter
what I do not understand is how burglary and breaking and entering suddenly became squatters rights, the idea that squatters actually have more rights then the person that owns the house is so bizzare
Very! All they glt to do is create a fake lease
Did you see that viral clip of a Venezuelan man I believe, telling people how to get free rent by doing this? How stupid Americans were for our laws? I was grateful to see that eventually it turned on him and he was crying online that he was being deported. This stuff is getting crazy.

It was so very kind of you to store their things and giving her a little money. She might have been a squatter, or she might've been scammed. You presented both sides. Very kind of you.

As soon as you hear the squatter you know she is in the wrong
@lorig4871 it was just kind of him that he was giving her the benefit of the doubt that someone else might've ripped her off by giving her a fake lease.
@OMWone6629 yea you never know these days
I think I have an idea for a new line of work, house sitting for people who are going to have a house sitting empty for any length of time
It's actually people who do that already. I usually setup security cameras but I couldn't get service in that area for some reason and Simplysafe wouldn't work.
If you have wifi, you can get cameras cheap at home depot
@Sassygagirl I use Simplysafe cameras in all my properties, but for whatever reason they wouldn't work in that area (base station wouldn't get a signal).
Was thinking the exact same thing.
It's what they do in my neighborhood of Detroit, the homeowners have learned their lesson, homes up for sale are occupied by whomever is do or has done the renovation, they move out the day the new tenants move in. House is never allowed to sit vacant. I have zero sympathy for deadbeats, don't care about how many kids you got
What a gorgeous home! I would have been livid if this happened to me. This squatter crap is evil. They destroy so many lives and should serve a month in jail for every week the homeowners were put out. You know they’ll never get their money back. They trash the properties because they’re trashy scammers. Sickening.
@elizabethcarrington5819 very sickening!

Next time, you go into YOUR HOUSE and if someone is in there they are breaking & entering. So if you have to defend yourself (by whatever means necessary) and your property. They are committing the crime, not you!
Exactly!!!!
@@allusmahnkes8126 I want to know why a 162 yr old law is still being used to protect sqautters? 1862 homesteaders act.

@@mzrnda yes they could've. But I went back in and repaired anything that was messed up.
The police officer was siding with the squatter.
@elizabethquitanilla604 yes, definitely. They all were
Squatting is a BURGLARY!!! Without giving any state or names. I knew someone this happened to. He found out that day that people were squatting inside, a house he owned and was selling. They were out that same night. He and his family and friends were not having that crap. Enough said. No police, no court, no damage to his property, and he made them clean it up and throw out the trash. They were begging them to let them go. He sold the house. LMAO.

Squatter laws are some of the most ridiculous, unfair and dumb laws out there
No one should be able to go to an empty house and squat and then be protected from having their asses thrown out by the owner.
So many crazy stories and at the end of the day there needs to be a change in law if it’s so easy to get a ‘lease’ or whatever it is they get in different cases.
Should be treated the same as breaking and entering and trespass especially if they break in
Definitely! That's the same thing I kept saying to the cops
I know, sometimes I think the sitting makes it more difficult for the owners when the most simplest thing is to actually bring the deed to the home to the police station and they have to act on it that somebody’s legally living or squatting, actually into your home that you didn’t tell they could actually live there And all they had to do was ask a couple questions if the tenant is supposed to be there, they should be able to produce there. They should be able to produce utility bill one. It should be enough electric water insurance cable anyone of those bills would do for the home that it they are squirting in And then that’s all the police officer has to ask if they came produced and they know they ain’t supposed to be there if they produced it then you got the problem you know you gotta go to Long road but at least you know where you stand and have to go to the eviction process and at least then they also know they gotta find somewhere else to go and you’ve given them plenty of time for them to find someplace. You have to go to the eviction process, sometimes the most simplest answers is sometimes the easiest, but the law likes to make it complicated thinking you’re taking advantage of people when that is not always the case I say probably no more than 210 is that ever the case where the tenant is being taken advantage of and as used and also I mean, I think he said he did advertise on the marketplace, but it’s not to rent it. It’s to buy that’s why I don’t like you know marketplace and craigslist because you have a whole bunch of people trying to freely use the site advertisement for homes when I think they should not do that on those sites for homes and apartments because those places are just too important to get wrong. You know what I’m saying and have to you know put a heavy retainer to hold or rent because usually the people that usually surf those are either flippers or people that need to rent, but they can’t always afford credit on their credit because they know that it’s too low to rent even though I think that is just a kind of a former discrimination against everybody to have to. It only indicates if people are behind on their bills, that’s all it really does personally I think most people I say eight out of 10 will not be late on your rent on the place you have to live in. They might be late on their electric bill their water bill the cable bill but if you ain’t got a roof of your head the rest of that stuff doesn’t even matter because you ain’t got a roof why do you need a pay electric? Why do you need cable? Why do you need pay a water bill if they ain’t got nowhere to use it hopefully that is your first bill you will always pay every month is your rent to your place that you lay your head, and maybe make if that is the case that they say they came up with a lease then maybe they need to start streamlining a lease county it should have your name up top the address where your actual written and a number to contact and all the information of the tenant on it then if there’s ever a problem, all an officer has to do is asked to see the lease and our utility bill if they can produce those then you know they are scamming the person you’re trying to rent from your family. They still have to go through the process there’s no easy way for them to get out of it, it’s the family member if they don’t go to the right process for the county they also as a consequence for not going through proper channels for one day it protects you as the owner and it protects your tenant if you go through the county procedures correctly I swear they make it more difficult than it actually is

I don't understand how someone being on your property without permission is a civil matter
I have no idea, I talked to about 6 different cops and they were all saying the same thing
The laws are stupid and it IS a civil matter. The Police are not equipped with the data to know who owns what. People can have paperwork with fake court seals and everything. Police are liable if they illegally put somebody out. The laws are written stupidly. That officer didn’t explain it properly either by making slick comments like “you ever been a police officer?” You should’ve asked her if she’s ever been a real estate investor.
