The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim simply has no shortage of things to keep the player’s mind busy, and nearly seven years later that remains just as true. So today we’ll be taking a look at five more things you probably didn’t know you could do in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

@@lukesilvestro7158 I had this problem too. Eventually realized it was because my follower was too stupid to realize it wasn't a real fight and went ape-shit on the Companions, making them all hostile towards me. So yeah, dismiss followers before sparring with Vilkas 😂
Valuables? Nah, you don't even have to drop a valuable item in Riften to start a brawl. Heck I watched a bunch of shop keepers and beggars fight to the death and absolutely slaughter each other over a wooden spoon. Not even joking, it was hilarious watching people go, "MY LIFE FOR THAT SPOON!"

The first time assassinating the emperor's decoy I jinxed him with fury and his own guards putted him down. I also did the same thing with Victoria Vicci, who was slayed by her husband

Actually the decoy IS a somebody, one of the last relatives of the emperor. His death after the death of Vittoria leaves the emperor with no heirs.
... leaving room for the Dragonborn to claim her rightful place on the emperor's throne hehehe.
Also, one thing people probably don't know: if you're over encumbered, pulling an arrow onto your bow will allow you to move faster. There is only one movement value for a loaded bow, and that value is a touch faster than being over encumbered.

A few months into playing, back in 1012, i stumbled across that arrow thing, and as a hoarder, i literally spent hours at a time exploring with an arrow drawn.
Unless you have the perk to move faster with a drawn bow. Then its way faster

Nate I have a fun fact for you. You mention in this video that if the dragonborn uses magic against vilkas he will stop fighting but did u know that if you are fast enough to knock vilkas down he will say the following "now that's impressive". I only found this out when replaying the companions quest line. I hope you are reading these coms, btw keep up great work love ur vids.

i was a vamp for an entire play through not sure of my character lvl when i started the companions but i have beaten the ebony warrior so above 82 for sure anyways i kept 1 shotting him and he got on the ground like how essential npc do and the quest wouldn't continue that i just ended up using my fist he actually has a line of dialogue for that! xD

How to make the best poison in-game: Jarrin Root, Blisterwort, and a Human Heart will make the ONLY 5-effect poison in the game-the effects will be: Damage Health, Damage Magicka, Damage Magicka Regen, Damage Stamina, and Frenzy. And you can get multiple of these with the perk gained from the quest 'A Return to your Roots'

Are you sure? I only ask because I found some mods that make normally unplantable plants able to be planted & Jarrin root was one of them. Hearthfire wasn't a requirement for the mod, but I have the DLCs anyway. I just got the mod for other plants I wanted to make more of whenever I wanted. I haven't used the mod yet or done the Dark Brotherhood quests to get the Jarrin Root.

I don't know if alot of people talk about this but if you join the vampires, dawnguards will attack the castle randomly. If you use vampire seduction to subdue one you get unique dialogue were they are trying to pose as wandering bards. You can make a request were they forgot their instrument. But yeah please let me know if anyone as figured this out
It'd because one of the radiant quests in the Dawngaurd is to kill a member of the Dawngaurd posing as a bard. So that is the only interaction with a Dawngaurd member if you choose the vampires.
I ran across one of those little Stormcloak vs Imperial skirmish's and looted all the bodies after the battle. Needless to say, I was overburdened so I dropped some of the more useless loot, at which point the stormcloak survivors and their leader started fighting eachother over it until only one guy remained. So much for that skyrim honor and loyalty.
Now I'm gonna try and 1 shot Alduin with the root
try this then use the root chorus egg blue mountain flower and void salt
i recommend planting the root first in a heartfire home so you have more of it
get mehrune's dagger in the fight vs alduin use the invisibility spell have the gloves that double backstab damage use the slow time shout also recommend having talos amulet and talos blessing so your shouts are 40% the second he lands if you slow time and go invis so he can't see you and use the poison and go behind him proceed to x60 stab damage with that poison and the potential of 1 shot from the dagger itself xD have fun!
Dragons are immune to poison I think.

You can use the fortify enchanting and alchemy hack and do it with basically any poison
Hey Nate, did you know that if you have a Reikling as a follower you can give it a greatsword, and like the arrows it will actually use the greatsword as a weapon and hold it like a spear.

Brunwulf Free Winter, he is an equal rights petitioner in Windhelm, and an anti war activist.
Well, there is a reason he is an anti war activist. His brother, father or perhaps uncle, Skarden Free Winter, wrote "A Dream of Sovngarde", in which he describes how he will likely die in an assault on the Imperial City and dreams of Sovngarde.
Evidently, he died and left Brunwulf with a sour taste for warfare. One we see in Windhelm.
Also, another tiny detail:
At the beginning of Skyrim, you get the Dragonstone, and return to Farengar and see Delphine in disguise nearby.
Well, if you go to Delphine's Sleeping Giant Inn in Riverwood, she won't be present there. And her co-worker will say when asked if he will rent a room that "Delphine is out. She goes where she wants."
The Vilkas thing happened to me, the problem was that my only alternative would be a fist fight. A conjured weapon is still a weapon, dude.

Curious Wind and fury won't give a stat buff like courage does
You could also climb the 7,000 steps and read the tablets. If you read all ten, you get Voice of the Sky which will cause animals to neither fight or flee for 24 hours.

I wish some1 would make a "...For the Good {sorta?} Guys" version of that quest, where we don't have to kill the guy & can just move on to the rightful target.
After you've finished fixing Pelagius's mind in a quest given by Dervenin in Solitude, his former master, Sheogorath lets you keep the Wabbajack used in Pelagius's mind. When the Wabbajack is shot at NPCs, it may summon unwanted creatures, but when shot at animals you are hunting, it will kill them.
I have actually done #5 on accident. I dropped a flawless gem next to Edda to see if I could get her to pick it up. Marise Aravel and Brand-Shei/Madesi(I don't remember which one of them it was) started to fight over it. I ended up using a calm spell before the actual fight broke out but weapons were drawn.

Funny thing about the “test” with Vilkas, bound weapons (spells that summon the respective weapon to the spell’s name into your hand) do count as “physical” weapons even though they are a spell.
I still remember when it took me a shamefully large number of attempts to engage with the Companions guy because I forgot my weapon was enchanted.

This one straight up one-shot Vilkas. When he recovered from being stunned by the force of this one's strike, Vilkas said "Not bad, you're mightier than you look!"
Love the "murdered to death" parts. Enough to even casually and without noticing unless pointed out, using them in everyday sentences that revolve around someone who died in spectacular ways. Oh, and of course during Skyrim gameplay as well. That's totally unavoidable.
I knew about the root one. I accidentally consumed it while mass consuming ingredients and wondered why I just took a huge hit only to realize I consumed the root. Oops.

No idea. But it was really late in the game, and I had fortify healths, a resists things and magical things.

For wild animals running away, you can also use the "calm" spell. It will make them stop running and they won't attack you. They basically act as though you're not there at all. So depending on what the AI does you may still have to chase, but more than likely they'll be easy prey.
I just got skyrim for the first time.
Found out, with Vilkas, if you use a bound weapon, like a sword. And start using it on Vilkas, he'll object to the magic but if you keep hitting him he'll continue the quest and praise you.
I thought everyone knew the beehive one. I mean, I learned it by randomly running around shouting at the top of my lungs. :)

For number 5, if you are so strong that you knock out all Vilkas's HP in that 'test fight' he will actually have a special dialogue. Instead of the normal 'not bad' line.
Edit: Also, Vilkas will show that reaction not only towards magic spells, but sometimes also damage from enchanted weapons.

About #4: you can also just read all 10 of the monuments leading up to High Hrothgar and you’ll get the Voice of the Sky blessing which makes animals neither flee nor fight you. They’ll just stand there passively. It lasts 24 hours real time.
Did you ever know that if you go with Hadvar and wear stormcloak armor near the exit of the cave in Unbound ( the very first mission) he will say a unique dialogue about your armor.

I actually tried dropping a gem in the Windhelm marketplace just to see something like that happening. Instead of a street fight Hillevi Cruel-sea picked it up and gave it back to me! I was so surprised I didn't really know what to do and instantly started to like her a lot more

Talking about Rifton: Just had a nice encounter after fast travelling there, a bunch of thieves had sneaked around and the entire town was in combat. Who thought Maven would go around at night casting lighning at criminals.
Dunno if you have already covered this or not. But in the dining hall of Uttering Hills Cave, there will be a Summerset Shadows banner. If you shoot a fireball at it, it will actually catch light and slowly burn away completely. Not much, but a cool lil' detail nonetheless.
I love making jarrin root poisons. With maxed Alchemy and all Alchemy perks, I mix jarrin root, river betty, and (usually) human flesh, and get a poison that does 3000 health damage. Perfect for when I'm on a quest and a dragon chooses an inconvenient moment to attack. One shot, no more dragon.

On the Jarinroot: This is probably known by now, but when you are able to drop the ingredient you can use it in the duplication glitch & get more than 1. Therefore making more than 1 OP potion.
I've had a bug happen twice (on Legendary difficulty) where Vilkas actually kills you because your character cannot take more than 3-4 blows.
I don't know if you covered this but if you get over level 50, have Serena with you, and that dragon armor shout the ones that makes us silhouette duplicate of you to fight alongside you. But if you have those three requirements you can actually defeat three of them... at once. This can also be accomplished with lioness from Riften, because like Serena she's one of your followers who can't die

I dropped a fork in Riften market once. They no longer have a grocer thanks to Brand-Shei.
That first one was a glitch (where I wasn't even using magic to fight him) that nearly prevented me from continuing in the side questline until I figured out that persistence allowed me to continue as if the glitch never happened. Not that it matters because my werewolf is glitched too! D'x

The companions fight with Vilkas, technically you can't use magic, but you can use any conjuration weapon you want :). A "worthless" decoy? Come on dude, that guy had a family, that guy had kids! Oh, and that gem dropping trick works in RL.
Nice vid though dude, I knew these hehe but I like to watch them, every now and then it's surprising what you can learn about a game that is this old now. Plus, I've been playing heavily modded for so long, some vanilla stuff is forgotten even if I did know it once.
Re: Bees - you can also target the base of the hive, where it is connected to a cave or tree, and knock it down with the sparks spell. I literally just discovered that today.
Another neat thing about the fight with Vilkas, almost always, when he stops the fight, he will say "Not bad. Next time won't be so easy." but, if you completely deplete his healthbar before he stops the fight, he will do the 'bleedout' animation, where he falls to his knees, and say, instead, "Now that's impressive. You're mightier than you look." Just a neat detail that most people will miss, because joining the Companions is often one of the first things that _I,_ at least, do, since they're in Whiterun, which is almost always the first major city you'll visit, and so you probably don't have a very strong weapon yet.
Edit: Ha! I guess I'm three years late to letting you know about this! (It's in the next video, Part 10. Oh well.)
6:36 It doesn't even need to be an item of value. I once dropped a grilled leek in Riften. It was great. Four NPCs fighting over a grilled leek. Brand Shei, Madesi and Marise died, Mjoll killed them all but didn't bother to pick up the leek xD
I knew NPCs would talk to you about dropped items, I've even been yelled at by a guard , in Riften jail, for dropping weapons, but I had no idea NPCs would fight over things

Jarrin root is so broken its hilarious. Max enchanting with 5 pieces of fortify alchemy gear (for anyone that doesnt know, falmer helm and circlet can be worn at the same time), and max alchemy allows you to one shot basically everything in the game
1:15 Vilkas also has different lines if you sic a follower on him and if you manage to make him kneel by hitting him hard enough.
What you may not know, since you didn't mention it, is that vilkas will do this when you have an enchanted weapon as well. So when all your weapons are enchanted cause its good for increasing the enchanting per to enchant all your weapons, you might just have to fist fight him. Or reload an earlier save, and pick up a weapon lying around in order to actually advance the quest.
There is another slightly less convenient way to prevent animals from running from the Dragonborn.
When you make the pilgrimage to High Hrothgar there are several tablets on the side of the path (10 to be exact); once read you will receive the "Voice of the Sky" effect (could be wrong on the name) that makes it so animals not only don't run from you, but don't attack you as well.

In the original skyrim (not sse) you could do a glitch to become both a werewolf and a vampire lord. Eventually it was "patched" out, and afterwards you could still be both just instead of having the vampire lord transformation, all of its abilities, weaknesses, strengths, magic, etc. would affect your base form. Most npc would still look at you and count you as a normal human (including the dawnguard) while town guards would see you as a vampire lord. This was incredibly fun as the town guard would attack you and the townspeople would often defend you, making any city you walk into instantly a riot. The game would also count the guards as being similar to bandits in that they attacked you so you wouldnt get a bounty. Did a whole playthrough like that and it was quite fun, I think at a certain point it really backfired with I couldn't continue the main quest but otherwise it was fun
I actually had the fight over valuables happen in a player home once. Was in the Windhelm home where I had a very high level weapon stashed - think it was Malacath's artifact - and my character's wife(Mjoll that playthrough) and the housecarl started fighting over it.
Vilkas also regards the Mehruns' Dagger as magic, so hitting him with it makes him reset constantly.
The thing about number 5 insinuates that nothing you posess belongs to anybody, including the Dragonborn (even if you bought said item at a store).

Something interesting regarding Vilkas and the Companions: historically, in the Viking Age, the practice of "seidhr" (basically Norse "magic", there's a Wikipedia page on it) by men was considered "unmanly", and a man that would do so was guilty of "ergi" (there's a Wikipedia page on that too). Basically it means "unmanliness", if I understood it right. Even if it does make sense that he wouldn't let you fight him with magic since it's a warrior's guild, the parallels are a little funny given Vilkas's "we don't fight LIKE THAT here".
Watching these years late to entertain the Skyrim lover in me. And I, as adiehard Skyrim mage and lover of the companions, have found at that during the initial fight with Vilkas while you can’t use traditional magic against him, you CAN use conjured weapons and he’ll act like nothing ever happened. A funny middle ground that I tend to exploit.
