Jeff Blashill seemed to have learned some of the tricks from Babcock. Although it wasn't with a high profile vet and more with a rookie Dennis Cholowski. Yes turns out he wasn't much of an NHLer but he started off really well in his rookie season.
Blashill healthy scratched him the first time in his home town (Vancouver) with all his family and friends attending the game. He healthy scratched him during the dad road trip while his dad was there (some will get healthy scratched on that trip so not as big a deal) and he healthy scratched on his own bobblehead night...yes fans got a bobblehead of a player being healthy scratched by the coach.
Also heard that Babcock grabbed a St Louis Blues blogger (Andy Strickland) by the throat and threatening him in the hall of the arena in St Louis because he had written a blog about the Detroit players not liking Babcock.

He wasn't a young player trying to establish himself nor was he an old player just trying to stay in the league. He was an established veteran who was part of the leadership core of the team when Babcock got there. Not the type of player Babcock would target because he would have the ability to talk directly to the GM and get Babcock fired. Babs is a classic bully, he never targeted anyone with the ability to fight back. Just like Jenner made his statement about his interaction with Babcock. I don't doubt Jenner was 100% honest. Mainly because Babcock would never target the Captain of the team the way he would a rookie. Shanny wore an A during the season he played for Babcock. He wasn't a target.

Imlach drove his best player (Frank Mahovlich) to a nervous breakdown and then chased him out of Toronto, which turned out to be a good thing for Mahovlich. I'm into baseball history and while there have been some odd ball characters in MLB history who became managers, none have lasted the way some of these psycho NHL coaches have (you can throw Eddie Shore, Bob Pulford & Jack Adams in with the others--Adams, who the NHL coach of the year trophy was named after was himself a Babcock level psycho).

Commodore was a good player, yeah, maybe not as good as when he was younger, but he still was good enough to help a team. Modano was an even better guy, a veteran player with lots to offer any team. And Franzen was still a great player, even at his age. Getting screamed at by a coach in front of God and everyone won't help him get better. I totally understand how Franzen feels, PTSD is nasty. Why did Ken Holland allow this to happen, not once but many times? He should have been monitoring his coaches as well as the other things a GM does. What a bully Babcock is!! Chris Chelios is an old school kind of guy and when he says that it was the worst thing he’s ever seen; is very telling as to the kinds of things Babcock must’ve said. Even worse when you know that Franzen was suffering from Post-concussion syndrome, it’s like yelling at a guy playing with a broken leg for not being fast enough, it serves no other purpose other than humiliation and creating an environment where everyone is kept in fear of him. They had amazing defensive pairing of Kronwall and Rafalski and on top of it fckn Lidstrom, top-5 EVER at D. They had cheap but reliable goaltending from Osgood and Howard. Tactical IQ and Social IQ are not related. MB had a high intelligence for strategic planning but a very low social skill set level. These traits are typically present in introvert personalities, autism, and sociopaths. For Babcock to sit a guy for a big game might be forgivable if it happened once or twice over a 15 year career, but it occurred many times, so there's enough of a sample size to conclude that he's an ass$%@#. In his NHL coaching career, he grossed in excess of $60M, so he'll be just fine in his remaining time on the planet. But fortunately for future NHLers, his days as a head coach have come to an ignominious conclusion. Good riddance to bad energies.

As a wings fan I liked him as a coach. Bowman was long gone before Babs got there. Dave Lewis was the wings coach for a few seasons after bowman retired. He was bowman’s assistant. He couldn’t get it done with that same hall of fame roster while Babcock took a team in Anaheim with probably half of the wings salary to the finals. Swept Detroit in the first round and lost game 7 to New Jersey.
Keep in mind there was no salary cap so he was doing something right.
When Babcock took over in Detroit there were only a few of those aging vets left from the bowman years so how could he be on bowman’s coattails? No fedorov, hull, Yzerman and shanahan were at the end. Totally different team with new faces except for the grind line.
With a cup and several deep playoff runs and 50 win seasons I’d say he was a pretty good coach for Detroit.

After viewing this video, I'm glad that Mike Babcock never became coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets,he actually resigned before the season began

When the Leafs found out... You mean when he was fired and the media finally leaked it

It’s not hard to win a cup and a medal when you have a good team in front of you. Like seriously, is being a coach for team Canada really that hard?

The 2008 Red Wings were loaded with Hall of Fame players also, I could have coached that team and won the Stanley Cup

What is wrong is that he Still commands so much respect from the present 'hockey hierarchy'. And is still looking for a way back in. Pls look into comments made by Bruins coach This playoff season .

My opinion of John Davidson *plummeted* after knowing he was integral in bringing Mike Babcock to Columbus. Especially as a former player, broadcaster and holding other executive positions in hockey (president of the Blues and NYR) I would have thought he’d have known better than to think Babcock had changed. Due diligence my ass!!! 👎

unreal for Jenner to come out and say it was just sharing some family pics and not understand that going through your phone is a totally different thing for a younger single guy than a boring older family man
