You the only person that mentioned the offensive line. Which was the problem last year. Bryson Young just made it for that. You can’t expect every qb to be young. When Milroe had time to throw the ball he made good reads.

Your comment was that might have been expected from the late, great Coach Bryant.
In contrast, the attitude of Texas fans at Tuscaloosa on Saturday, both before and after the game, was far from charitable.
Words of welcome extended to the visitors in Orange were returned with a surly, snarled "Hook "Em."
Post-game congratulations were spurned by all but a few, older Texas fans.

In baseball the Rangers fans were the WORST when they were making their World Series runs. Cowboys fans are always stupid cuz they actually think the cowboys will go to the Super Bowl every year and Texans fans are just pissy all the time. Nobody has anything to root for around here cuz we suck at everything. Once we have a team contend for a championship or are relevant, people don’t know how to act. They ruined sports for me entirely. I don’t cheer for anyone because people act like they play or coach the team. They congratulate each other and crappy fan bases for a well played game as if they had something to do with it. We’re some of the dumbest fans in the country. As a Longhorn, that's what has been frustrating all along about our football team. Texas has always had the athletes, the money, the facility, the support, and the highly paid and highly hyped coaches. Why we haven't been consistent is what drives a lot of us mad. A glimmer of success can easily cause an overreaction and declaration of "We're back" year in and year out. So now we beat Bama, will we as a team and fans fall back into that sense of greatness, leading to entitlement and then complacency? I sure hope not again. We celebrated and now, back to work. One game at a time, and keep winning. The results will take care of itself. We just got to take care of business. No "We're back" bullshit rhetoric. The season is early and there are lots of great teams to respect and prepare for the rest of the season. Respect them, but not fear them. On to the next game, Wyoming. Hook'Em!

My dad was fortunate enough to be around and watch the Bear Bryant days, I asked him yesterday; "When Bear lost it, did it feel like this, did his teams start to look like this?" His response: "Yeah, it really did. I'm not ready to say Saban is done, but if he loses one or two more games this year then he probably won't win another championship. It looks like he doesn't have his 100 mph fastball anymore, and his teams are looking very undisciplined." - That was sad to hear, but I'm all about perspective, If we don't win again, I'm still going to enjoy the hell out of right now. I remember going to the Independence bowl's, the Music City Bowl's and scheduling Hawaii at the end of the year because we couldn't go to a bowl (that was our bowl 🤣). The analogy of Saban "not having his 100mph fastball" is moronic! He's a head coach, not a player. He doesn't perform on the field! Alabama still has the best roster in college football. Even if Bama goes 8-4 this year, and can't resolve the qb issue, they have Lonergan, who's a highly recruited freshman, and Julian Sayin, the number #1 qb for '24 coming in, or Saban can fix it through the portal. Plus, they had the #1 recruiting class this year!
The idea that Saban or Bama is done is completely ludicrous and a ridiculous overreaction! The problem is, the standard that Saban set for the program is its own worst enemy. To have not one down year since 2008 is not the norm. Even an 8-4 or 9-3 season is still pretty good. Just relax and stop with the "It's over in Bama" talk!

That’s exactly what I saw. The first few plays we did what this team was built to do. And instead of making Texas stop the run, we stopped ourselves. Then once milroes arm was exposed as a none threat, can’t reestablish the running game. So our o line looked horrible because they’re built for explosive pushes to aid the running attack. They’re size causes them to lack speed and ability to drop back and pass block consistently. Just not what they’re built to do. It’s not what this offense is built to do. Put a QB in that can get the job done through the air, reestablish the running game, keep the defense off the field and avoid them from getting gassed, might’ve been a different outcome. But then again might not be. Texas played a good game. All I know is poor offensive play calling and Sabans refusal to bench Milroe is hurt us more than the penalties did

    • @martinmccormick2166

It's pretty simple really, Texas stacked the box to keep that from happening.. hard for 5 guys to block 4 dlineman and 2- 3 LB's shooting the gaps on run plays. The way to stop that is by having a QB who can read the defense and throw to the open zone.. Milroe can only watch his 1st read until he either gets open or Milroe tries to scramble out of bounds. We can talk about the o-line all day, but as a former collegiate offensive lineman, it's terrible to try blocking for a Run first QB because you never know where he is going to be, which was evident on the sacks when Milroe's scrambles ran him directly into the pressure. Remember the oline can't see the QB, but the defense can. Which gives the advantage to the defensive pass rush.

As I mentioned on this channel in the preseason....Texas would beat Bama by double digits. On Bama side, I attributed it to the lack of an experienced, above average QB...in combination with new coordinators. It takes time for players to learn all the plays in the entire playbook. Therefore, the players would be limited with having fewer plays ingrained in their memory bank, the plays would be limited in order to make it easier for players to remember, or more often than not, a combination of both. I believed that Texas had a more experienced, above average caliber QB, with explosive receivers and very good D-Line. They also had confidence against Bama, from their game last year....in which Texas should have won. They were one of the teams I picked to make it to the playoffs this season.

Which then put more pressure on your defense and left them out on field for extended plays......this is why wheels came off late in the game and made it feel worse, all because your QB! It could be because Saban has lost a step, the competition - many of whom used to work for him - has caught up, or some combination of the latter. My view is that it is combination of both, but with respect to losing a step, it’s not unusual to have relatively less focus, less intensity, and less energy as you age. I don’t know why being a football coach would be any different.
Nick noted a few years ago that he’d gotten more “patient” as he’s gotten older. Is this “patience” manifesting itself in more penalties, sloppy play, and teams ultimately not achieving their potential? The issue isn’t a lack of talent - it’s getting that talent to execute as best as it can, and that was always something Saban could do better than anyone else.
As a fan I remain optimistic that there are more good days ahead, but I struggle to see the results and consistency that make me think the successes of the past can be expected into the future.

I think a big part of it is NIL and the transfer portal. He can't build and keep depth like he used to. Instead of sitting on the bench for a chance to start one year for Bama recruits can go and make money playing 2 or 3 years for a smaller school. The coaching prestige isn't as big of a deal as it used to be when boosters from other schools can put money in their pockets.

@@BoudinMessiah88 Yeah, I don’t disagree, but that doesn’t matter. If the situation has changed and his program/system/process can’t adapt, it could a great that we have diagnosed one of the problems, but we don’t have any apparent solutions.
There was a time when Nick was a couple steps ahead and a change like NIL or the portal would have been something that gave him an advantage. I don’t see that anymore.

Props goes out to Sark, Ewers, and their team. They beat my Bama boys, but what now for Texas? Will they be like Tenn, and LSU? Losing to teams that they should have beaten. Yeah LSU made it to the SEC Championship game, but we all know what happened. Or will they be like 2010, 2013, 2017 Auburn that either made it to the SEC Championship or National Championship after beating Alabama.

It's almost like you can't just declare that you're gonna run "Murder Ball" and expect your OL to magically get dominant at run blocking. Saban wouldn't be resorting to "murder ball" unless he had to because of quarterback play. There's a reason he hasn't run it in half a decade. That OL is not equipped to do it.

Bama fans are savvy enough to understand that the machine was not going to crank out NC's forever and someone else would eventually be on top. I am surprised it went as long as it did but it was a historic run, one that will likely not be repeated.

I’m a Bama fan. I was asked about the team a month ago and I said it’s not going to be a good season. I said during the Texas A&M game last year that Milroe is not a quarterback (a Jack of all trades and phenomenal athlete, yes.) The Bama offense is still suffering from O’Brien being there. WR were not developed nor was the OL or a QB. I think the team will be better the second half of the season but I don’t expect them to contend with Milroe under center.

Milroe kept doing just enough to change Saban’s mind. That’s why he wasn’t pulled. I know Saban thought about it, then Milroe scored. Then Texas went down and scored, then Milroe threw that last INT and it was to late after that. It was over

@@truthseeker9688 Actually Ty Simpson has shown his ability to read the defense in the A-day game and make very accurate, threading the needle type of throws as well. We just had a ton of drops in that A-day game for Simpson. most of his incompletions were drops. as you saw in this Texas game, most of Milroe's completions, were bad throws that our WR's had to climb the ladder to grab even the wide open ones streaking across the field had to leap to make a grab. He had 1 wow throw, and had at the minimum two more interceptions that were either dropped or snatched away by our WR's. Both of his interceptions were some of the worst picks I have ever seen by a Bama QB since Spencer Pennington (who was a baseball player trying out football)
