Thanks for the clear how to. It's a trivial job, but seeing someone else doing the job makes it easier anyway. Btw it can be done without special steering wheel puller.
Thank you for all your videos. I am learning a lot from them for working on my 04’ OB. Question : Can I swap out my 04’ airbag (it’s was recently replaced at dealer due to recall )and put it on a 97’ legacy steering wheel or do I need to stay in my 2000-2004 OB years? since my airbag is new I am trying to find a compatible Subaru leather steering wheel upgrade to my base OB at the local yard and pulled the 97’ wheel recently.
any tips on wiring the button controls to work? i got an 2005 limited and i got a 2005 ll bean parts car im utilizing til i send it to get crushed in a couple days
Had my 06 outback to the alignment shop but the steering wheel is still not as straight as it should be. Can I pull it off and straighten or are there alignment splines on the steering shaft.
Hi mate, so if I have a steering wheel without any controls and want to change to wheel with controls for volume or shifters. Do I need to do any changes to the wiring of will it still be compatible? Thanks!
Are those bolts that thread into the steering wheel 8x1.25? I was looking for a puller for this reason and just want to make sure the bolts included. That way I know if i need to buy bolts outside the kit?
Great video on this process, I am thinking about changing out the wheel on my 05 L.L. Bean Forester as it's getting worn out. Do you know if the legacy wheel with audio controls is compatible with my car?
Yes, but it won't be a direct bolt on with the airbag working, etc. That said, you can use the wood grain MOMO from the 01-04 L.L.Bean Outback as a direct swap.
Thanks for the video. My steering wheel doesn't have audio control. Will this swap enable me to control audio on the wheel? Mine is 03 Outback LL Bean.
Yea, if you disconnect the airbag with the battery connected, and there's a spark across the pins, highly unlikely, then the airbag can fire off right in your hands/face. Serve injury to you and probably a shattered windshield at the least. You have to remember that you're essentially handling a bomb. I'm sort of more lax than I should be in handling them honestly. That's when you get hurt, when you lose respect for something that's dangerous.
Great work! Could you upload a video about how to fix “VDC OFF light turned on after replacing the steering rack”?? XD I replaced it, then these light went on. So it had DTC in steering angle sensor, then it was calibrated, light went off...but a few days after the repair the light went on again with the same DTC. All this just after replacing the steering rack. If you have some stuff that could help me i’ll really thank you! My car: MY07 Outback 3.0R Greetings!
Is the seat heating? My amber "On" lights are burnt out in my 02 Outback, but the seat still heats. If not, I would suspect the switch or heating element in the seat.
I am planning to change the Steering Roll Connector, just want to know what ahead of me, so after removing the steering wheel I remove the Steering Roll Connector is it a snap on or screwed down? thanks in advance
are there any special directions, or just a simple take of - put on affair (07 outback). I got a free check up at the dealer (airbag light on) and they said I need the roll connector changed I have no idea what it is or what it does, but i know it is more money than I can afford right now!
I love Subaru cars. All you really need are 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm and a 22mm in your tool box.
Thanks for the clear how to. It's a trivial job, but seeing someone else doing the job makes it easier anyway. Btw it can be done without special steering wheel puller.
The bomb has been defused. And then armed again :P
Also, that steering wheel(s) mounted camera trick was pretty cool
Straight to the point, no bs. I like it. Thanks.
An nice example if someone is looking to switch up for a different wheel.
Or needs to replace an airbag. lol
Thank you as always for the very clear step by step instructions!
You're welcome!

thanks! gonna use this to replace my peeling wheel. t30 seems to be the secret
You're welcome. 👍🏻
What color is the illumination on the buttons ? I’m looking for a steering wheel with the oem green for my forester xt. Thank you
Can you replace a 2015 Forester steering wheel with a 2017 Forester steering wheel??

Can you help me on wiring up a new steering wheel with the button controls from an old one
Just gonna throw this one out here, will my 2004 impreza OBS fit an 2004 sti steering wheel?

I honestly can't remember. It's an old Snap-on bolt grip puller set. The bolts were included, just never looked at the measurements.
Great video on this process, I am thinking about changing out the wheel on my 05 L.L. Bean Forester as it's getting worn out. Do you know if the legacy wheel with audio controls is compatible with my car?
Legacy to Forester? Can't say. I rarely work on Foresters. That said, as interchangeable as most Subarus are, it's highly likely.
Same car, same question. Did it work out?
Almost positive it works, the only difference from those two wheels is the airbag cover design and the lack of audio controls
Can i fit that steering wheel to my 03 legacy wagon
Yes, but it won't be a direct bolt on with the airbag working, etc. That said, you can use the wood grain MOMO from the 01-04 L.L.Bean Outback as a direct swap.

This is an upgrade for the 4th gen Legacy. This wheel/airbag isn't compatible with an 03 Outback.
Same thing for a 2018 Subaru Impreza?
I never knew airbags were that easy. Are there hidden dangers that are not shown?

Greetings!
I will see what I can come up with.
Hey i checked the fuse for my heated seat its not blown. The indicator light still does not come on ,maybe the switch?
Is the seat heating? My amber "On" lights are burnt out in my 02 Outback, but the seat still heats. If not, I would suspect the switch or heating element in the seat.
MrSubaru1387. K thanks alot for the help
You're welcome.
MrSubaru1387. How do i test the switch? I have an omh meter.
Check for continuity across the poles of the switch in high and low.
I am planning to change the Steering Roll Connector, just want to know what ahead of me, so after removing the steering wheel I remove the Steering Roll Connector is it a snap on or screwed down? thanks in advance
After removing the steering wheel, remove the steering column cover, then remove the screws and roll connector.

It's what the plugs were plugged into. It's directly behind the steering wheel.

can I mount a 2005 LL Bean steering wheel on my 2006 Subaru legacy gt?
Yes.
@@MrSubaru1387 my current steering wheel has the shift buttons and the buttons on the LL Bean are audio, how can I fix this
Is it necessary to remove the fuses?
will this fit a 1998 legacy?
Thoughtfully produced video, one of the much higher grade presentations I've seen on UT, thanks.
Replacement is good but why not upgrade to a newer model wheel while you're at it?
