I an a Horticulturist who has truly searched the Internet and TH-cam for small and easy to use soil sifting designs. The quality of your presentation and your plans are clearly the BEST ! Thank you for putting your time and effort and sharing it with us. ~ Well Done.
Man I wish I’ll be 1/16 of your smartness one day , that’s crazyness so precise I ve never seen anything like this , hope one day you’ll explain to us how to build a space rocket , finally found something good on the internet
Outstanding presentation, design plans, downloads, engineering. One of the best how-to-videos I have seen. Fantastic! I "liked" the video and subscribed to your channel.
I can't even tell you how long I've been looking for a trommel build video that is as comprehensive as yours is. I will definitely be making this soon. We were terrorized by rocky soil. It really makes gardening un-fun.
I have been looking at trommel videos and plans for a while. By far yours is the best and most comprehensive plan I have seen. I will build it this winter. Thank you, John
voronoi55 had asked for the "documents / parts + cut lists" on an earlier video ... That prompted me to create this video and documentation. So feedback is really important. Thank you.
Great job! A simple case of mechanical engineering. Extensive! Very well done. Thank you for documenting and sharing this. You went to a lot of work. Good teacher. I do wonder if all the mechanical parts are easily available. Good project for me and my grandson who wants to ne a mechanical engineer. I am a retired electrical engineer. I wonder about the long term durability of the wire mesh. I have 3 tons of 3/4 gravel and dirt I would like to separate.
Thank you for the videos and great documentation. I'm afraid this is above my skill-set. However, I'd like to maybe build the structure, coupled with a bicycle instead of the motor (simpler, and apocalypse-proof!).
I would like to build this trommel, can you provide a list of materials/parts along with where to purchase the supplies? Where can I purchase the motor, the pulleys, the wheels, the fully threaded rod, etc.?
I'm having a heck of a time keeping my trommel from walking any thoughts? maybe I don't have the casters centered? I had to take off my guide casters mounted horizontally because they interfered with my deflector screen on the output
Ebay.com and search for "gearmotor", which is the motor type this trommel is using. Ebay has a wide selection of new and used motors. You may also find good used motors in the local salvage yards.
Cheapest motor with similar specs I've been able to find is about $300. This build isn't really worth it for me unless I can get the motor for under $75. Is this motor overkill for this purpose?
www.battlekits.com/robot_wheels.htm#Drive Wheels with Keyed Hubs (Part# 4W) This is the 4" wheel. Note this wheel's keyway is 1/4" x 1/4", while the Keyed shaft's keyway is 3/16" x 3/16". If you would like to know how I got around this issue, please watch th-cam.com/video/Rj9OEOmta5c/w-d-xo.html ... this topic is discussed around 6 minutes into this video.

It's been said 1000 times, you are a saint and a scholar for this!

Thanks for a beautifully executed trommel build. Great videos and plans!
Thank you!!!! I can't wait to build this!

Would really like to build this. Where can I find this document to download. There is no link with this video.
Thank you so much....God bless you!
Very good.

any thoughts?
maybe I don't have the casters centered?

Can you take a video of the issue and upload it to youtube?
DIY Projects yes, will upload in a day or two (trommel located off site)
will post link here when uploaded
thanks!
Great video and plans! Can you recommend a source for the electric motor?

Value of pi is 3.142, not 3.124. But a well designed trommel. Thanks
