I got mine originally because my doctor announced he'd have to operate on my leg again, and peeing had been the biggest nuisance while recovering the first time round. You can use this thing to pee without bending your sore leg, without having to somehow maneuver your full-leg cast in a teenie-tiny cubicle and even sitting down in a wheelchair (you do need a bottle of sorts). If you live in the right country, getting this is covered by some health insurance companies, if it means you need less or no nursing help.
But yeah, nowadays, I mostly use it for baffling nurses with my 'excellent aim' when giving urine samples.

Actually, I follow a lot of travel bloggers and these types of things are mainly used for road trips or like if you're on a cheap train or bus that doesn't stop, you can use these to pee into bottles and things like that. I expect they're also useful for campers/hikers where you run the risk of poison ivy or if it's really cold out. I don't think it's the type of thing where you'd carry it around in your everyday life and just whip it out in a mall bathroom or something.

I actually see these sold at festivals and my friends have told me they are really useful if you want to go pee in a bush rather than use the gross festival toilets
So for conventional use, a bit pointless but for things like festivals and camping I can totally see a use.
For the longest time I thought that girls and boys both can pee standing up, so I try to pee standing up for half of my life.
I actually own one of these, because I work outside and often in remote locations. I just wish they made the cup a little bigger! Otherwise, it's been a godsend on more than one occasion. It took a little home practice to master it though.

My son sits down to pee all the time. He finds it easier to completely empty his bladder. When he pees standing up he never fully empties his bladder . We had an ultrasound scan prove this and solved the mystery of why he had suffered so many urinary tract infections.
Weird, I and most man don't have that problem. When he was little little he must of peed sitting because going to the bathroom is kind of a learned experience in certain positions it's easier to go depending on how you learned it and sometimes when your just near the toilet the urge to go increases.
I like how some women have the conception that since we men can pee standing up we will do it just about anywhere at any time like as if it was as casual as a thing as blowing your nose. Well, it's not like this. If you have even a minimal amount of self-respect and education you will pee in a toilet regardless. I think I peed outside of a toilet only once or twice in my whole life. And while I reckon I may be on the extreme end of the scale, most men still just don't pee anywhere they have the chance to.

Most of the time I do want to stand up and pee but when I really need to sit down because my legs are tried i don't mind. But recently I did ask my male friend if guys wipe themselves when they pee and his reaction was hilarious!
what makes this really funny is it that I kind of bookish girl who is totally into the whole peeing standing thing. the chick who's obviously lesbian was the one who had the most trouble getting it started and I find that really hilarious.
