1. Do not make eye contact with any other person using a urinal
2. Do not look stare at any other gentleman's genitals
3. Do not use a urinal if the adjacent urinal is being used by someone
4. Do not force your piss out, as this will cause splashback
5. Do not talk
6. When you are done, shake your genitals 1-3 times in order to get rid of that last drip left.
7. Do not shake your genitals more than 3 times, as other urinal occupants will believe that you are masterbating; consequently you may be attacked or branded as a "wanker"

Then explain this: a movie theater seats about 400 people at 4 screens on each side and there are only two sets of bathrooms (a men's and women's on the east side and another set on the west side). Two movies end at the same time so over 100 people run straight for the bathrooms. The men's room has two stalls and 3 urinals. What do you think happens every time I go?
A - There is a line at each urinal but NOT the middle one
B - Everyone avoids using the urinals
C- Because 40 guys are trying to use the bathroom, there is a line at every single urinal.

There is a Universal code when one uses the Men's bathroom. It may rarely be spoken about in conversation, however! Though this may be the case - all males are aware of the rules in such an environment.
In order of importance:
1. A space of one Urinal must be present when other Urinals are free.
2. No speaking - The men's bathroom is a tranquil and peaceful domain.
3. No eye contact - especially with the third eye!
4. If you do by chance give of the impression you have glanced at anothers manhood, you must proceed in continuing your visual path and pretend you are rolling your neck, give off a strained look in your face, cough, then go back to your mission at hand.
5. No more than two shakes of the trouser snakes.
6. You must stare at the wall (Links with point 4). Not only does this keep yourself to yourself, but it also aids you in your concentration and prevents any likely stage fright.
You have now passed through basic training. It's a tough world out there but with the right practice you will prevail. And if all else fails...just shake it off - no more than two times though.

Well its more of no talking to strangers its not as weird if your talking to friend but still not something we typically would do regardless, and always have at least one stall/urinal in between each person
I don't think it's homophobic. Imagine if we had unisex washrooms and women used the urinals as well as men. Men looking at women peeing would definitely make the women uncomfortable, so that would be socially unacceptable. And while guys might not feel as weird about women looking at them, out of fairness it would be unacceptable as well.
As for talking, I don't know if that would change or not. When I'm at a urinal, I'm there to get my business done as fast as possible. I don't have time for a conversation, so I wouldn't engage. Maybe others would.
As for stalls next to each other, that's a personal space thing and that doesn't change because of the gender.

Okay so there are a couple of unspoken rules when it comes to urinals:
1) There is no conversations
2) No eye contact most people just look strait at the wall
3) most importantly, leave an empty urinal between people. Next comes any empty stalls and then its either wait the two seconds for someone to finish (which happens if there isn't a long line) or end up right next to each other.
Lastly all the rules may be ignored if you know the person well enough and it usually becomes a joke type scenario.
YORK-firearms Well, this has nothing to do with your rules but if you've noticed that the urinal is "J" shaped on the side (if you get what I'm saying) you can "hug" the urinal with your crotch and not show anything. It's worked for me.

I'm a guy and I'm very bathroom shy so I always use the stalls I literally can't go if I try to use the urinals plus it weird me out.
The Shewee is an amazing device! I can tell it changed my life completely! Now, when I'm camping, I no longer have to search hours for a tree big enough to squat behind. I can go just about anywhere I want. When skiing, there's nothing worse than having to drop your drawers at - 30 degrees. With the Shewee, you'll be able to stay nice and warm all the time. The Shewee is an indispensable item during a long car journey. I've always been extremely jealous on how my boyfriend and my male companions can have a pee wherever they need to, while we girls have to wait AGES for a bathroom (much less a clean one). With the Shewee - the problem is resolved. During car journeys, now I can just bring an empty water bottle with me to wee discretely in the car OR I can just find somewhere to pull over. But that 'sonewhere' doesn't necessarily have to be a gas station or a public restroom. With the Shewee, on the side of the road or in front of a conveniently placed tree is good enough!

Um... everyone is posting men's bathroom rules, so here's my very own women's bathrom rules!
1.The more, the merrier. If you were having a conversation, why miss out just because you had to go to the bathroom?
2. It's ok to ask friends for pads or tampons.
3. If you are at school and want to apply makeup at the bathroom sink, leave room for other bathroom goers and choose a sink farther from the door.
4. If the lock on a bathroom door is broken, have a friend hold the door closed for you, or if there are strangers around, just hope the door is close enough to hold on to whilst sitting on the toilet.
5. If you need to poop, wait for either everyone to leave or for somebody to create a somewhat noisy diversion.
6. Talking is normal, especially when you bring friends. You may talk even if you are at the sink or inside of a stall. Anyone else in the bathroom who does not know you and/or did not come to the bathroom with you is not permitted to talk, even if they have helpful input.
7. Only about forty percent of bathroom time should actually be used going to the bathroom. If you intend to spend more time than that, try to avoid bringing friends. If you do happen to bring friends, continue the conversation so that they don't notice how long you are taking.
8. Roughly 60% of bathroom time should be spent washing hands, talking, and/or fixing hair/makeup.
9.If you come to the bathroom with friends, you don't have to actually use the toilet. Proceed by initiating in actions mentioned in rule 8.

The reason why it isn't strange is because we are accustomed to this since we are little and we don't really think of it as strange. Well the majority doesn't. There are some guys that are shy and rather use a stall. But for the most part it's something I do not put thought into because I'm used to voiding in a urinal I think every guy at one point, has looked down at their neighbor.

A lot of time there are big dividers between urinals so you have a bit more privacy but this is not always the case, and even worse, sometimes it's just a big long trough. There are some unspoken rules to urinals that every guy knows though that help everything go as smoothly as possible.
If there is enough room, leave AT LEAST one urinal between you and another guy.
Eye's forward, no talking. (Talking is fine if you know the other person well enough, for instance if you and a buddy go to take a leak together, but even then once peeing starts, talking usually stops.)
A head nod to acknowledge each other is acceptable.
Small talk may commence or resume once peeing is finished.
A stall is always an option for the more pee shy but in a quiet bathroom this presents a quandary for weak streamers; "do I pee onto the inside of the bowl so they don't hear my stream, or do I go right into the water and let them know I am not a strong pee-er?"
You do not acknowledge by way of taunting, laughing, or mentioning, the pee shivers of another patron in the bathroom.
There should be a minimum of 2 shakes and 1 pull to empty the urethra. 4 shakes is recommended. No more than 6 shakes and 2 pulls. Anymore and you're just playing with it.

The bathroom at my middle school had no barriers and the toilets were so close you were basically touching the nearby person. Nearly everyone either went to a stall or stood basically touching the urinal. I was also at a bathroom with basically a literal trough with a drain in the middle.
Kind of sounds like a prison bathroom...
LOL, I once was shipped off to a camping ground by my college (for morality boosting reasons, LOL!) and everything was um, community style: everyone shared a gigantic shower and yep, the guys had to put up with a trough for a urinal. There was a always a line at the stalls!

5.If there are no walls lean in a bit, more privacy that way.

I never use the urinals for these inconveniences, but when I do, I always choose the one in the corner to make sure no one looks, and I guess it's just the power of the mind to just ignore if someone else looks at you, because I never look, I'm just staring at the wall and thinking about something, like song lyrics or stuff I need to do: that's the power of not caring about what people think of you.

Story Time
I remember the first time I had to pee in a urinal. So the girls bathroom was closed and I really had to go pee so I made my boy cousin go check to see if any guys were in there ( I was at Wendy's ) he said no so I rushed in and locked the door. I walked over and tried to figure it out and I ended up having to put both of my legs on the side of it while I bent down some and at first it went all over but then it started to work. It was the most awkward thing that has ever happened to me. When I got out my cousin was smirking like an idiot and ask how it went let's just say I go pee before leave anywhere nowadays 😂😂
