Kirtanas of Dikshita Composers By Dr.Sumithra Vasudev
About: The term ‘Dīkṣita Composers’ immediately brings to our mind the illustrious composer Muddusvāmi Dīkṣita. The other composers of the lineage or paramparā include Rāmasvāmi Dīkṣita (Muddusvāmi’s father), Balasvāmi Dīkṣita and Subbarāma Dīkṣita. In this presentation, Sumithra will talk about the music and the compositions, kīrtana-s in particular, of the three Dīkṣita composers mentioned above, referring to the works of Muddusvāmi Dīkṣita wherever necessary. The talk focuses on the variety of beautiful and innovative structures of kīrtana showcased in these compositions, and elements like prāsa, mudra, melodic aspects, etc. Sumithra will also sing portions from these exquisite kīrtana-s, exemplifying the specialities embedded in them.

Excellent. I always relish the English Tamil talked by Brahmins. Can call this Brahminish.
