Hey! It's kind of a reverse question, but would you say that the A7CII looks more "unprofessional" in a sense? I would love to upgrade from my a7iii to either one of these, but I shoot professionally and have a business--however at the same time, I would love to start vlogging like this.
I would say going with a bigger bod for professional work is the way to go. But you can also rig out the a7cii with cages and stuff to let it look professional. But you loose full hdmi and 2 card slots.
A7IV Too good to trade - I have the A7IV and there is no way I’d give up the comfortable ergonomic grip, the large EVF, the 1/8000 max shutter speed, the satisfying ASMR snap of the shutter, the superior dynamic range, and all the clicky buttons, spinny dials, and joystick it offers over the A7C ii. A7C better value than A7Cii - The A7C ii is an upgrade over it’s predecessor in terms of have better features but on the used market it’s not a better value. At $1200, used open box, with the kit lens I recently, (Jan 2024), got a fantastic value in picking up the 2020 A7C. It’s not the latest and greatest but it is every bit the small size at 1/2 the price of a brand new A7C2, while yielding splendid full frame results.
And don’t forget, the A7c original has much better battery life than A7CII…. It’s probably the best battery life of any compact full frame body! Seems to have faster wifi photo transfers due to 24MP resolution and will have slightly better low light image quality.
Tbh unless you don’t care about the look of your tools, and you’re okay with giving away new specs, only then would you chose the a7iv. A 7cii is beautiful
Sorry to say that if you want a small camera like the A7CII, which I own, but for any pro or large lens usage you need to own both. Personally I own several Sony full size full frame bodies like the A1 and A7RV and the A7CII and A7CR. Always go with two bodies so there is a backup. For travel it’s the two compact C bodies. For real work it’s typically one fulll size and one compact C body but of course as you say you need t get one or two compact lenses if bag size and weight are also important. Thank you and take care.
I have the a7rv and a7cii for travel. IMO, the a7cii is a better camera vs a7iv. The upgraded AF is worth the change alone, but add in the size it punches way above its class.
The AI and the improved stabilization is the real draw for me. I have the a6700 and that AI is very impressive. If it wasn't for that crapy grip it would almost be perfect. I noticed the grip isn't even as big as the A7iii and I found that one to be small.
I went with a used A6700 and ZV-E1. The value proposition is way higher and you can save some money one the f/2.8 Simga 18-50mm f/2.8 lens to get that similar focal length in p60 and save some money for full frame Viltrox 16mm f/1.8, Sigma 24mm and 50mm DG DN Art, Sigma 28-45mm f/1.8, and/or Zeiss 85mm f/18 lens
Do you miss the nice big EVF, joystick and the true mechanical shutter of the A7IV?
No. Just the ergonomics.
I was very hesitant but finally I chose a7iv
big camera's destroys the "vibe" with your subjects,... nailed it. Massive deal that no one's said on film.
this is such a cope excuse for awkward photographers. YOU determine the vibe with the people in front of your lens.
I am only concern about the view finder ? how is the view finder ?
It's alright. Not great though. If the EVF is an important point for you in a camera, you will probably not like the EVF of the Sony A7cii :(
Could you please film the next video on the A7c ii?!
It would be lovely to see the quality image
Great Video!
It’s so refreshing to see the black version. Everyone and their uncle hopped on the silver train which I personally don’t like!
Haha I am also a big fan of all black :D

This is why I chose the A7iv. Plus the 2 card slots are essential to me for professional work

Thank you for being the first person to talk about the size!
Agreed with you completely

Thank you Florian, I'll going to make same switch
