got the a7cii after using the a7iv since it came out. I love the compact size and the image is great. it's not my go to travel camera but still have to hang on the a7iv for pro work almost only because of the dual cards.
I like the idea of the portability of the A7CII, I own the A7IV and sometimes i am tempted by the A7CII. I own the ZV-E1 and its so much fun to take out with lighter lenses (to be honest the sensor is nicer for video in my opinion) but i have fallen in love with the portability of it. the auto focus withthe new AI chip is not a huge jump so I stayed with my A7IV and its better for things like wildlife and less overheating. Really enjoyed the video it looks really good.
I do love my zv-e1 as well! The portability of these cameras does make it more fun to use when out and about I’ll say, but also the feel of my a7iv feels great in the hand and just hits different. They just serve different purposes haha
Hi, Hope you are well. The minimum shutterspeed achieved by sony a7iv is 1/30s, whereas sony a7c ii has 1/4s. Also the fastest shutter speed for sony a7iv is 1/8000s, but in 7cii it's 1/4000s. I am inclined to sony a7cii because of lesser weight as i travel much. But I am really worried if the shutter speed config of sony a7cii will concern ? e.g. if I am shooting some waterfall, or flying bird, will it be blurred in a7c ii ? sorry, i have bit less knowledge on shutterspeed range. looking forward to your kind suggestion please. Thanks
The minimum shutter speed of both isn’t that. It’s like 30 seconds long exposure technically so I’m not sure I follow. I do know that the a7iv has more higher shutter speed than the a7cii I believe like you said. And you’ll be able to capture high shutter speed still at 4000 honestly. I’ve used it for a lot of things and haven’t had any issues. If you want to do wildlife photography only then maybe not the a7cii but still a great camera for almost everything and anything! I love both cameras honestly.
I have a 6700 which could be used for video, I am looking for a FF camera more for just photo. Both these cameras are great can't see any wrong decision here. A7c ii is newer but I hear no complaints from a7iv users. And I have to be honest, I never used the 6700 AI focus for airplane, car, insect. just people, animal and birds.
Out of these two, if you’re not needing any of the updated AI auto focus and the a7iv is a solid choice. It has really great auto focus already and it feels really great in the hand. The only reason I would tell you to get the other one is if you wanna keep a compact body for size. You could even look at the older models of both of them if you just want a photo camera with good auto focus as well to save some money
The first video I’ve seen that talks about what is for me the most important thing image quality.I have both these cameras and I’ve been into photography since the fifties and believe that the Image quality in photos and video is just that slight bit better on the A74 I not a fan of this AI autofocus as I found it less effective than the A74 non AI . I think this chip has changed something about the image quality the C2 has less contrast and slightly weaker colour. Most reviewers don’t spend enough time really comparing image quality. Good job..
Thanks for your commenting and sharing your insight! I think the difference is because the a7cii has a type of like mix of electronic shutter with a mechanical where it isn’t fully mechanical from what I’ve heard!
There are some obvious difference in the first photo you took (white building and more blue sky for A7iv), but not sure whether that’s because of the lens difference 😂 Switching lens to tamron+A7cii and sigma+A7iv would confirm that 😂
I noticed after it’s due to the lens but because the a7iv had the everyday filter on the lens which has a little bit of polarization so it made the sky bluer due to that.
Thanks for the quality comparison. I have an a7iv and would like a second body for shooting weddings. I am torn apart between a 2nd a7iv or an a7cii. I'm just a lil worried about the single SD, but then I remind myself that with the a7iv+a7cii combo i would have a 3 sd card set up. And then for a EDC I could use the a7cii 😊. Thanks for the video 😊
Is the Sony A7CII also good in hand with a Tamron 70-180 or the 35-150? Or is it much better in handling with the A7IV? What’s your opinion on the evf off the A7CII?
If you get the a7cii, I’d 100% recommend getting the base plate to make your pinky fit better when using a bigger lens. I use the camera often with my 35-150 and 24-70 without issues due to the base plate. I love both cameras for different reasons honestly. I don’t think the evf of the a7cii is horrible how people complain. It won’t be anything that you’ll think it’s life changing, but it works well for me.
A7IV is 2021 sensor, wondering if should wait for the A7V instead of the A7cii now, since now its just a bump in AI in the A7Cii, but 2021 sensor ? Also, what is your favorite 3 lenses for the a7cii for street?
Supposedly a new camera will be announced the 19th of November by Sony. How reliable that is, I do not know, but doesn’t hurt to wait to see. If the a7V isn’t announced, then it could help you make a decision I believe. And for street photography with the A7cii, I love using my Sony 20-70 f4, Tamron 20-40 f2.8 for size, or if I want an f2.8 as well I’d use my sigma 24-70. The Tamron 35-150 is a killer one but the size can be off putting for some. But I love it still due to the range and all you can capture.
@@EasyTigerCreative Yep saw that, sonif the A7V is announced would you get that for street instead of the A7Cii / A7CR, its just 3 oz more weight I think, this is for street. For street travel on A7cii or A7CR would you use either that NEW 24-70 sony 2.8 lens and 85 1.8 or would you take Sony 24mm f/2.8 G, 40mm f/2.5 G or 35 2.8 with 85 1.8 with you, for street do you prefer ligher/smaller on camera or to switch lenses? The 24-70 might be as sharp as rhe primes? Also would you wait for the A7V instead because the A7Cii sensor is a 2021 sensor left over from the A7IV?
@@photographerimages if your main thing will be photo, then the a7cii or a7cR will be perfect now honestly. If you’re needing a true hybrid with updated video specs and don’t want to have a crop 60fps option, then see what the a7v might have. I don’t know if they’ll announce it honestly, my guess is they’ll either announce the fx3 ii or something like that first but to be honest never know with Sony 😂
@@EasyTigerCreative Nice, thank you. Guess the sensor in the A7vii isnt too old although its a 2021 ans its not almost 2025 it does have the AI…Would be nice to see a new A7Viii in November…
@@photographerimages I would just wait to see what comes out in November possibly and if not the a7cii has updated auto focus with the AI and then also still very great sensor.
i really wanna know, is the a7cii has dual native iso like the a7iv? pls answer🙏🏽, anyway thx for the video really looking for this kinda comparison and finally found it.
They do share the same sensor. It could be part from the lens since I didn’t have the same ones to do on both. But for the most part they perform the same honestly. Just minor differences outside than inside in my opinion.
My biggest complaint on the A7IV...was the grip. It's too big and uncomfortable. So I made peace with my mind and got the A7Cii with a single SD slot. Can't complain a lot about my choice besides having the camera freeze from time to time when shooting in High Speed.
@@Tvennet I can understand that! Have you added a base plate to your A7cii? I love it with mine. Makes a huge difference to shoot with bigger lenses! I haven’t had mine freeze but hopefully it won’t!
Did you notice any major differences? Is there a preference from either camera for you? Let me know 👇 😊
Broooo I’ve been waiting for a video like this because I’ve been comparing them online for a while. Thanks for taking your time to test things out 🙏
