I have a 2012 sedan with 18 inch wheels. I run all seasons, and I was shocked at how well this vehicle handles and brakes I'm the snow. I feel like the car won't let you get too loose or out of control. excellent traction control and stability.
my sister husband has the newest and the highest level of the genesis it feels like your driving an airplane they're very very very expensive . but its so comfortable and smooth .
I have the Genesis Sedan with Michelin X-Ice3 snows. And to get moving on on snowy roads I find I have to put it in manual mode and start off in 2nd gear. Then I manually shift and keep the rev's lower than normal.
summer tires man !!! i have two cars 2002 Mitsubishi eclipse V6 GT coupe and 2007 Toyota Camry and both cars had all four tires studded snow tires never have any problem and i think the same goes for the RWD ae well snow tires aren't cheap but man they worth every single penny for real they do make a big difference
Wellll it doesn't do the bestttttt but I've made it up some pretty legit hills on pavement. Obviously momentum is your friend(and sometimes foe) but a couple of those hills were covered in untouched unplowed snow probably 3 inches or so and I had to basically turn off the esc and let er rip all the way up the hill. People walking by on the sidewalk shaking their head in disapproval as I pass by with a huge smile on my face😅. So yeah take it how you please... this was in my 2014 5.0
you show the 5.0 Rspec but test with the V6 model. a little bit different of the engine! Would be nice to show both vehicles yet this was 5 years ago so no bother :)
That is a good question. We didn't get that information but our best guess from looking closely at the video is that they are the General Altimax Arctic. It is a very well rated tire by many sources. www.generaltire.ca/productdetails.php?id=altimaxartic
Hello Paul, Factors to take into account are where you will be driving your Genesis and how you drive. The tire with the best grip on ice and snow will not be found in the same tire. Tires are designed to be better at one or the other. We recommend going to sites that have reviews for tires. Sites such as Autos.ca and tirerack.com among others. User reviews tend to be helpful because with enough user reviews a clearer picture can emerge about a particular tire's characteristics. Having used this method myself I have not made a bad choice yet. It just takes some time but is well worth it. This will help you narrow down your choice. Investigating which characteristics in a tire you prefer will ultimately make that tire for your Genesis the best choice for you.
This is good ... if winter in North York Ontario was on a flat piece of land. How about when you’re stopped at a light and face a steep hill covered in snow? Several years ago I saw three Genesis-es (Genesii?) spun out, while my 4cyl AWD 99 CRV made it up no problem. Was looking in to a 2010 Genesis, but be truthful in your ads Hyundai. Come on.
I own a 2016 Genesis Coupe GT V6, even with worn snow tires, I had no problem going up or down those hills this past winter, like on Caledonia, Mt Pleasant, Avenue Rd, and Eglinton east of the black creek. It's not the most pleasant feeling to fishtail, but all RWD cars will do that. These Genesis (except the coupe) have a snow mode which I'm sure works much better than just having a mechanical LSD like in my car.
Jon Bumgardner . The Genesis coupe has similar traction aides as the Genesis Sedan however the size, weight, suspension tuning, and balance are very different.
Seriously!? you detail how awesome it was in the snow but do not give any Kudos to the tire MFG?! I am searching for new tires as winter in quickly approaching the midwest and dont know whether i should get winter tires or all season and then buy aftermarket rims for the summer.... What is the tire model used in this video??
Thanks Brian for the question. We were not given any details about the tire manufacturer with the video and its not mentioned. There is only one winter tire that General Tire makes which is the General Altimax Arctic. As mentioned it is a tire that gets great reviews. New or updated tires come out yearly and there are many resources such as TireRack.com, Autos.ca and others. Winter tires can be quiet, loud, better on ice or better in snow. Choosing a winter tire can depend on where you live as well because of local conditions, road type as well as temperature changes. Also a person's driving style will steer someone toward a particular tire as well. User reviews are very helpful for this. Calgary Hyundai always recommends winter tires in regions where snow and ice stick around. In Calgary there are a large number of people who now fit their vehicles with winter tires so we see the differences on hills, intersections between those with and those without. A good rule of thumb is this. If the deductible for your insurance is around the price of a set of 4 winter tires which would you rather spend on?
Calgary Hyundai This is a great reply, Thank you! I didn't do much research on the video to know that you were not the ones who created it... My question was inappropriately directed to your dealership. Just becuase: Reviews by consumers, in my opinion, are as useful as a wet napkin. While there may be some truth to a review from someone who knows what they are talking about when it comes to tires, the general public does not know what they are talking about and instead they provide their input compared to ..... OEM tires?? It's difficult for me to put $800-1200 behind some random reviews from the gen public. I'm sure you can understand. I need to consult in a tire expert! It's too bad you cannot test drive tires! That is a service I would pay for.
My problem is that i keep hearing about them having transmission problems. Buying a used one from calgary car lot but kind of hesitant as it has 44k and im told its fine but i dont wanna learn i have to replace the transmission etc
My 2009 Genesis has 145k and the ONLY problem I had was with a thermostat used in the dual cool/heat zone. Body, engine, transmission all working really well with normal preventive maintenance.

I want to see this exact same test for the Equus. If anybody got the Equus snow test video like this let me know.
I had summer tires on my Genesis all winter here in Colorado and it was miserable. Never again.

Your mistake.
@@dennismayer4936 Damn, got me 7 years later.
By the way is the snow tires good for the genesis 2010 4.6 sedan and will perform like that to?
I’d like to see it going uphill in snow/ice

bridgstone ws80 blizzaks works splendid with my 13 Genesis Sedan.
