I'm an international student transferring to the US for junior year. Thank you so much for these videos, they help make things a lot less scary 😁

This is such important advice. My daughter wants to attend college on the east coast before medical school. We went to see NYU, Swarthmore, Haverford and she loved them all. These schools are reaches for her and same or lower ranked than her local safety school, UW-Madison, at 1/3 the price. UW-Madison Medical School would also give her a 25% chance of admission as in-state applicant vs 5% elsewhere. Her college fund would cover both college and medical school rather than just college alone. Top college and medical at great prices,; it's a no-brainer.

NYU is interesting due to their yield protection policies. They regularly accept students with 3.7's but reject 4.0's all the time.

@@ryyanoh I had to look up yield protection. Now it makes sense why students accepted into Harvard are rejected from NYU. Thanks!

@@ttm387 Yep, bc of this there rlly is no such thing as a "safety school" since it depends on each individual applicant

My daughter's safety school is Texas Tech because our junior college where she's doing dual enrollment classes has a regional agreement with them for admissions and accepting the credits.
Her next safety is my alma mater cause we're pretty sure she'd get in with her good gpa, good sat score on first try and being a legacy. But she's not sure she wants to go there just cause I went there.😂

Yeah right I was thinking the same thing. Some of those are of the states so there might be no chance at all. And how about the cases of the private schools that offer the full-rights?

For out of state students its admit rate is around 44% -- for in state yeah -- probably 55%+ depending on the year. Not quite the "safety" or shoe-in type of college for anybody with generally A average but still a reasonable college for the list where many students with good grades will have a good shot depending on major (A few competitive majors are almost impossible out of state - cs for ex.). I have another video last year called A+ schools for A- students and Washington made the list for that -- but I set up different parameters for that one -- it wasn't so focused on "getting in" alone but schools that are good fits for people with a mix of A's and B's.
