I can sympathize with that. I typically dont like open world games as much, but I enjoy Skyrim.
It's not much different than the "I dont like RPGs but Persona 5 is good" type
Theres nothing wrong with not liking a genre but liking certain games from that genre

Nice to see some more love for it twilight princess is one of my top 3 favorite games of all time so it did make me sad to see people hating on it when it released
The top ten Zelda games video was actually your first video I ever watched. It was announced on the Zelda Dungeons home page at the time and that introduced me to you, which then lead to the rest of NormalBoots, and it's a blur from there.
I love that your recent focus has been on Twilight Princess and BOTW... my top 2 personal favorties.

honestly phantom hourglass isn't a bad game at all. i actually loved it though the touch controls did take some time to get used to. imo it gets too much hate than it deserves and it's mostly because of the controls. it just needs a remaster on the switch or a future nintendo console with improved controls and it would be 10 times better. same with spirit tracks but i never played it so i can't say much on that

in my opinion, minish cap is the most underrated zelda game ever. it is SO good and I almost never hear people talk about it! So happy to see peebs put it at top A. Personally it is my all time favorite game, but that is just because of nostalgia for me. This was the first zelda game I ever beat and I replayed it as a kid more times than I could count

This is pretty close to my ranking, honestly. BotW is only 4th for me, and your top 2 are my top 2 exactly, in that order.
I really liked the minish cap
I had a lot of fun with triforce heroes
Although it shouldn’t be in the tier list since it’s a spin off. Same with hyrule warriors
I don't think the Oracles games, Tri Force Heroes, or Spirit Tracks got enough credit here. Yes they're different games from the grand adventures the rest of the series is. But they still stand out in ways that make each of them unique entries in an iconic series where no game is like another. Just because they're different from what we usually like from the series, doesn't mean they're automatically not as good. I think it's much more fair to judge the games on their own merits and how successful or not they were at executing what they were trying to do. As in the end of the day, that's what really makes a game good or not so good. At least that's how I see it. And I feel like all of those games I listed are super solid. With that in mind, here's my tier list of all the Zelda games. This was SUPER hard as there's many things I genuinely enjoy about every Zelda game with the exception of only two. The top 8 in particular was super hard as I can genuinely see places 6-8 and places 3-5 changing on different days. But as of the day I'm writing this, this is how I feel. Though tbh I don't see my top 2 ever changing lol. I'm excited about this tier list though cuz there are quite a few hot takes.

Finally someone agrees with me with BoTW! It’s a good game but the dungeons were trash, the best dungeon was the DLC one.
The dungeons being trash makes me so sad since the whole idea had sooo much potential. If they weren't as empty I think they might have made botw stand out even more in a good way.

Four Swords on GBA (the one paired with A Link to the Past) and Four Swords on the GameCube are two different games. The one on GameCube is Four Swords Adventures. One of my favorite GameCube Zelda games, actually.

Maybe it’s me not playing Legend of Zelda as long as most but I LOVED SKYWARD. I enjoyed the length of it, the bosses, and the character development. I feel like a lot of people don’t like it.
I'm glad skyward sword got some love! I'm biased because it's one of the first zelda games i played (same with phantom hourglass, rip) but really it is such a nice game and it gets way more hate than it deserves

ph is my first zelda game, so im super based, but its not as bad as people make it out to be! its far from my favorite zelda game, but it has its redeeming qualities. I get that the controls are a growing pain (im used to them since I grew up playing the game), i’m personally not a fan of how they completely shelved tetra for the ENTIRE GAME, the dungeons are super easy, theres the *CERTAIN* dungeon that shall not be named (even though its designed in a way that makes sense to retread bc of the many shortcuts that open up with new items), the music is probably the worst in the entire series, the final boss is uninteresting, etc..
on the flip side, the ds features used to the max and in creative ways even if they are just DS gimmicks at the end of the day, it has one of the best zelda characters in the series (Linebeck), I think the story is pretty memorable and worthwhile, the items are pretty fun to use (even if some break the game a little).
Yeah in conclusion its not great but its not a D tier game! lol

Phantom Hourglass was my first Zelda. It's definitely not the best one, but...I didn't think it was horrible either. The story was amazing if nothing else, the dungeons were ok, Linebeck is the best character Nintendo has ever made, and it was very creative of the ds's features with its puzzles. I guess not a lot of people liked it because it didn't really live up to Wind Waker as a sequel, but it's still pretty good in terms of a standalone Zelda. I know the most glaring problem people hate is the Temple of the Ocean King. Yes, it is really annoying to keep having to go back over and over again, but...it's actually kinda fun to go back and memorize the whole temple to try and clear it faster and faster each time. You can get extra sand for the Hourglass, and it really shouldn't take a horribly long time, especially if you choose to use a guide to make your life easier. Maybe it's nostalgia talking, or maybe it's because I've never played Wind Waker or WWHD, but I still love Phantom Hourglass.
It has a great story, the dungeons are definitely some of the easiest, perfect if it's your first, it had a lot of fun characters, a few rather clever puzzles... Am I the only one who thinks Phantom Hourglass is underrated? Even Chuggaaconroy did a Let's Play of it so...
I also personally appreciated that it didn't have heart pieces, and instead had all only heart containers...I love Majora's Mask (3D) which was my second Zelda, but I guess I'm just too lazy to go around searching for all of the heart pieces.

In a tier list, I feel like taking into account when games were released doesn't really make sense. You're not a game critic reviewing a game fairly at time of release, you're ranking all the games in retrospect. I feel like Zelda 1 should be C tier or something.

honestly no shame in liking albw more than botw, its like exactly what I think a lot of us are craving explorationwise waiting for totk in the future here
Agitha is my favorite
Man am I the only one who saw breath of the wild and played and was ok, and that was it. It doesn't have a lot that I find great about the series, dungeons cool thematic areas. Characters like you have less than ten characters in the whole game and some don't have personality. It's open world ness is fun to mess around in but like it's not a game I can get invested in it's a game I would play with friends and mess around in really hard difficulty. Just not sure why it's so hyped
I think Hyrule Warriors should be higher to be honest. Definitely Not SS or N but I think B or C would be the best fit.
I want to like Twilight Princess so much more than I do... it's still great but I have problems with some of the choices with the gameplay and the world... but the story is nice

Nah, on the same console you have Link Between Worlds, DKCR3D, Mario and Luigi Dream Team, Super Mario 3D Land, etc. Triforce Heroes was a weird spinoff, so personally I wouldn’t rate it quite so high.

Twilight Princess is my FAVORITE Zelda game, feels bad about the hate. My Second LEAST favorite zelda game is breath of the wild. My LEAST favorite zelda game is Zelda 2.

I loved breath of the wild. I played over 200 hours on it in the first 4 months of its release. The problem is, if you took the Zelda brand away, it would make more sense. It’s a great game, but not a great Zelda game. It’s super fun, and it has a lot of charm, and is really fun, but when I was playing it didn’t feel like a I was playing Zelda. I even forgot at times when I was exploring that it was Zelda. Then I had the monsters slapped in the face and I remembered. After it was done I wanted the old formula back. That’s the only thing though, good game, just not really a Zelda game.
same even though it did feel like zelda to me. with the sequel they need to bring back actual dungeons and possibly a select few unbreakable weapons to use throughout the game. and better story ofc. with those things, the sequel would be 10 times better than the og.
@@shadow4040 its actually a really good game. It can look overwhelming at first with the whole open world but the fact you can do whatever you want whenever really helps. And fighting mechanics are really good too. Recommend giving it a try cause at first I thought I wouldn't like it for the same reasons as you but ended up being one of the best zelda games out there

I cannot make myself like Twilight Princess. Part of it stems from how difficult it is, I acknowledge I'm not good at it so that effects my opinion, but I think I ran into many of the games problems just from what I played.
you could try watching a good walkthrough of the game. that's what i personally do for zelda games i play for the first time and it makes it more enjoyable to me. zeldamaster's walkthroughs are great for that

that used to be my favorite top down zelda game. it was amazing and so much better than alttp imo. now the remake of link's awakening is my favorite top down game
Phantom hourglass may have clunky gimmicky controls but atleast the combat is functional this might just be my bad opinion and I'm probably going to delete this comment later but skyward swords combat barely works but I will defend phantom hourglass until the day I die even if no one else will

To see how many people actually hate ocarina of time is insane. I thought it was universally praised by the Zelda community! I personally love the game, its old dungeon system was 100% the best of the games at the time but I suppose the graphics aged super badly
