    I've had this cheap compressor+airbrush set just two years ago when I began modelling and wasn't sure if I was going to practice this hobby for a long time. It did a really honest job for one year and a half and I painted about 20 models with it. Of course, compared to a higher-end compressor, it's noisy and tends to get hot. But it did a real good job for more than a year. I've bought a new compressor a few month ago but I still keep this one and it still works flawlessly :)

      I'm just starting my new hobby in building High grades Gunpla and I'm thinking to get one of these kit since I only have time like 2-3 days a month on building Gunplas since I have other things to do, so I don't want to spend a lot for airbrush kit. I guess I'm sold with your testimony. Thank you.
      How long did it become overheat? And if it overheats, does the compressor automatically turned off?

    • @maybestarryskies
      @maybestarryskies 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@looniaz I don't remember well but I guess a bit more than half an hour before it gets hot. The main problem is the noise, if you have to concentrate on what you do during a long time. Headphones and good music while painting is a good workaround ;)

    • @MistressNeviah
      @MistressNeviah 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@looniaz it doesn't shut off automatically, I have the point zero version without the pressure valve, I painted a mass of kits with it. For about $40usd you cannot go wrong if you're new to the hobby, but with all tools you MUST do maintenance. I cannot stress enough how much maintenance I've done on both of mine. They're really amazing for the money especially for fixed incomes. I rate the whole a nice 8.5/10 overall myself and I also know about 50 other builders who use theirs religiously. I know theres one that is going strong for 3 1/2 years and about 20 master grades alongside many High Grades. It also works for diorama work too!

      Hello mate. I've started model building on the same situation. Since march/2020 I have exactly the kit shown on the video and I can't complain. Seven models (1/35 tanks) already done. I'm still learning but have noticed how easily I can use tamiya products and how hard Ammo and Italeri paints are (in my case) to apply because the tip always dry too soon and I have to stop and clean. Might be the wrong solvent but maybe the airbrush/compressor also are to blame.

    • @edgarfigueroa8860
      @edgarfigueroa8860 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think it looks great, it’s very portable, it’s a good option for beginners who only make model kits occasionally. I quite like it myself, and if you can build 20 models with it without breaking it then it’s worth the money. But since it’s constantly running it might be burned out after painting 5 model kits😂

    Bought a similar unit 2 years ago and still going strong and have built many car and aircraft models using it. Had some initial usage problems with things like spray nozzle adjustments (critical) and how much paint thinning was required, but I think that had more to do with the fact that this was my first airbrush rather than any fault of the unit. Had to replace hose but only because I stood on it. If you adjust pressure knob just so, I found compressor (yes, same Harley Davidson sound as the one on this vid) will only run as you're actually spraying and will shut off a couple of seconds after trigger release. Slightly thinner paint with these cheap units is also a big help.

    I have this one for quite a while now. I do occasionally paint when time permits and I think its perfect for smaller scale models like what I mostly do (sd and hg gunpla kits) been wanting to get a better set up tho as it is prone to have moisture build up despite having that moisture trap. Plus the airbrush it came with is sensitive to viscous paint and you may want to thin the paint you are using despite it being ready to use out of.the bottle. A 2½:1 ratio of thinner to paint is advisable based on my experience

    I bought a cheap Expo airbrush and compressor (£60) about 6 years ago. Struggled with it from the start.
    Generally wouldn't recommend cheap airbrush packages for beginners. I replaced the airbrush with a Sparmax Max-4 early last year and kept the compressor.
    This is 200% better!
    Although even the Sparmax is still a general purpose/beginners airbrush, the build quality and precision are so much better and that makes a huge difference.

Just had a problem as I was cleaning the airbrush (I clogged it 😂) the nozzle o-ring disintegrated as I was screwing it back. Had to buy multiple replacements now just to be sure 😂.
    Also for the new auto-off feature, it only automatically shuts off if the pressure valve is set to high. When set to low, the compressor runs continuously. Used it for an hour, spray testing outdoors, it warmed up but not too warm. So IMO it would last 2hours max in a session before it really heats up.

    Thank you for making this informative video sir, I bought the exact same airbrush and compressor set from amazon. After using the airbrush for some time, it stopped working. After seeing many online guides and doing a complete deep cleaning, I finally got it working again but it stopped again after 30 second. Now the airbrush sometime works for one minute but the next minute it stops. Do you have any idea as to why this could be happening. Thank You

    • @StaticModel
      @StaticModel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is important to understand what part of system fails. Is it airbrush or compressor? See if compressor keeps pumping air without airbrush connected. If it still stops, there is something wrong with compressor itself. If it only stops when airbrush is connected, that means there is a clock in air system or airbrush trigger is faulty.

    • @thequantumcuber3261
      @thequantumcuber3261 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StaticModel The problem is definitely not with the compressor as I have tested it thoroughly. It is most likely with the airbrush. I have not identified a consistent problem but sometimes there are bubbles in the airbrush cup. I have deep cleaned the airbrush, but it is extremely inconstant whether it worked or not

    • @StaticModel

      @@thequantumcuber3261 bubbles are usually caused by poor seals at nozzle cap, poor seal also make paint to dry out in awkward areas of airbrush, also "dry tip" issue will occur more often. Maybe your nozzle is split or cracked also, worth checking.

      Moisture trap prevents condensed water from getting into your airbrush ant later into your paint. For example when you paint, big blob of water coming out from air hose can cause paint spit/splatter... Some people use transparent air hoses to monitor moisture build up in air channel. Also moisture traps are commonly available on ebay,alliexpress,amazon ect...

    It seems you're not thinning down your paints & primers before putting it into the airbrush. That's something you should do. Always thin your paints & primers before airbrushing them. That way the compressor won't have such a hard time.

    • @StaticModel
      @StaticModel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I intentionally used pre thinned "airbrush friendly" paint that is marketed specifically for use right from the bottle, because that is what beginners usually go for. If you are experienced and willing to play with thinning ratios, it's most likely you also want precise pressure control and another compressor kit.
