Hello Barbatos Rex. I enjoyed watching your review on the No-Name Airbrush. I would like to ask you which "mini" moisture trap for airbrush do you use or recommend which connects to the airbrush, as I am new to painting using an airbrush. Wishing you a good day
Cool! thnx for the review :) Could be possible to get one of those cheap airbrushes with the airspeed control at the bottom kind of like the Mr Hobby procon PS270 to adjust the airspeed aswell...
I’m currently using industrial off the shelf spray can for repainting because the hobby stuff spray can really expensive. Would this be an upgrade compared to the industrial spray can?
That blue was Vallejo. For that brand I use their thinner and flow improver. That blue in particular was the Air line up. It's pre thinned for airbrushing. Check out my video on how to airbrush them. Because they are pre thinned I just added a few drops of their Flow Improver. It helps acrylic paint flow better thru the airbrush
Will that compressor work with that "cheap" Harbor Freight airbrush you bought for $10 and tested in January? I like that airbrush with bottles better than the one in this video with its tiny paint pot.
Thanks for the thorough test and review! I just got a similar portable airbrush to practice with as an introduction to airbrushing. I have a lot of Tamiya acrylics, but no thinner. I was wondering if you'd tried Tamiya acrylics with the universal thinner and what sort of ratio you think would be good for portable guns like this? Or maybe using Tamiya thinner is better? My compressor is marked at 18-20 psi but it's very similar to this model. I figure its best to practice with the paint I already have before I go out buying a bunch of new ones :)
Use isopropyl rubbing alcohol. I open a fresh jar, fill it to the top with the alcohol. Close the lid and shake. That's the perfect ratio and the alcohol works great.
Do you remember to what ratio you diluted the Testors paint example with thinner? Great video(s). I recently discovered your channel and I really like your content.
Question! How much did you thin to get paint to flow best with one of these? I've read that somehow using 50% thinner was the way to go, but my first instinct is to think that that's way, way too much?
At least 50/50 when it comes to lacquers. 40/60 paint to thinner is actually a better starting point. Acrylics are different, it's harder to peg down an exact amount cause every brand of acrylic is a different thickness.
I've been using mine for about 3 months on and off painting my rc planes and I kind of feel guilty using it while my Iwata sits in the tool box. It's good for a quick spot job but if I'm doing a lot of pieces I'll revert to my Iwata otherwise it's a nice airbrush to have in the arsenal. If you get the quick connections for the airbrush itself you can use almost any airbrush with the compressor. I have had decent luck with the cordless compressor using other airbrushes.
Can you use the quick connect? I thought the fitting to the compressor had to push the button for the valve to open, and that couldn't happen with the quick connect. I purchased one from iBeautee and it has an M7 connection that I can't find fittings for.
How much are they though? Because I can get a decent compressor with an airbrush included (I dont know how good these are but there are several different choices and maybe there is one that is alright to use) For just under $110 AUD .. Just depends how much value you get out of using this, maybe you are in a shared living or strict apartment living and a compressor is out of the question.
Awesome video mate! Often wondered what they'd work like. Do you think it would have enough charge to get a 1:24 scale car body done with a couple of mist & wet coats?
Always assumed these cordless compressors were junk.. This is actually something to look into for those small jobs for which running an air hose from our shop compressor all the way upstairs is just too much work.
@@barbatosrex9473 i was worried about that. i bought the aqua gloss after watching your video on chrome finishing. unfortunately, i only have one of these cordless airbrushes. but i will try the alcohol idea. thank you for all your wonderful tips and videos.
Hey, I just got this airbrush and compressor. Do you have any recommended routine for cleaning the AB between colors or after a paint session? I am using Vallejo and Reaper MSP acrylics.
Don't use alcohol to clean out Vallejo ever. It clumps it up. Use steaming hot water. Watch my video here on how to clean Vallejo from your airbrush. th-cam.com/video/bryQvFy0wXI/w-d-xo.html
I'm not sure, but I think I destroyed 2 of my better paint Brushes. I used testers enamel, and did not have the appropriate thinner to clean them. Is there any how? And what kind of thinner should I use for testers enamel?
Have you tried this with alclad ii? You mentioned it at the beginning of the video but then never tested that on camera... I'm really interested in using this for metalizing some gunpla. The PSI specs appear to be in the right range but how does it work in practice?
I bought one of them, it was a gocheer... worked ok for 2 weeks then it had to be plugged in permanently because it wouldn't hold a charge. Then after 3 months, its dead. I'll never get one again.
I'm planning to move to a proper tank compressor from this cordless setup. How do I connect this airbrush to the compressor? I am not sure what parts I need to connect it proper
@@barbatosrex9473 I think the detached airbrush is missing an air valve, since it's sealed into the cordless compressor. Do you know what kind of hose would work with this airbrush?
It actually depends on the paint and brand. It will say "Gloss" before the color if it dries Gloss. If it doesn't say Gloss it will dry matte. Most Vallejo paints dry matte. I have Humbrol Acrylics that say Gloss, like Gloss Orange. Now you will have brands that say acrylic paint but it's a solvent based acrylic. Tamiya and Mr Hobby Aqueous are solvent based acrylics and both of those have gloss and Matte paints. Most craft paint dries matte and require a clear Gloss coat

@@barbatosrex9473 thank you so much. Keep up the good work.
I want one 😊 thanks for the review! 🇦🇺❤️
Have a wireless airbrush and need to know how to mix acrylic paints house enamel paints how much water and paint to make thin, also can I use inks?
does it works for the Gundam Marker Airbrush system?
Will that compressor work with that "cheap" Harbor Freight airbrush you bought for $10 and tested in January? I like that airbrush with bottles better than the one in this video with its tiny paint pot.
I believe it will. I have seen where people have used Iwatas etc
@@barbatosrex9473 I'll give it a try - thanks!
thinking of getting this for doing dust effects
Thanks for this!
You're welcome buddy
How well would this spray car lacquer paint and car clear coat? If it would be suitable for small spot repairs for cars.
Will work fine if you use an airbrush with a 0.5mm needle & nozzle
Do you remember to what ratio you diluted the Testors paint example with thinner?
Great video(s). I recently discovered your channel and I really like your content.
Question! How much did you thin to get paint to flow best with one of these? I've read that somehow using 50% thinner was the way to go, but my first instinct is to think that that's way, way too much?
At least 50/50 when it comes to lacquers. 40/60 paint to thinner is actually a better starting point. Acrylics are different, it's harder to peg down an exact amount cause every brand of acrylic is a different thickness.
Does this works with the Gundam Markers aribrush?
Yes
I use a quick connect set on mine that I purchased through Amazon
@@ret737 Could you post an Amazon link to the one you got?
@@okiltex Actually I think I got them on ebay. I searched my past purchases on Amazon and didn't find them
Thank you, what a great review!
Thanks for watching 👍
I’m touching up paint with my car small spots but my question is how do you thin out the paint to put in airbrush do you use lacquer thinner or what
Is it possible to use this compressor for other applications, such as air horn, blower nozzles, etc?
How much are they though? Because I can get a decent compressor with an airbrush included (I dont know how good these are but there are several different choices and maybe there is one that is alright to use) For just under $110 AUD .. Just depends how much value you get out of using this, maybe you are in a shared living or strict apartment living and a compressor is out of the question.
This one cost about $50 USD
Awesome video mate! Often wondered what they'd work like. Do you think it would have enough charge to get a 1:24 scale car body done with a couple of mist & wet coats?
Absolutely, it should run about an hour, you can have everything done before that
Hey Rex! Please please please start an automotive build series! 🙏🏼
Well I will be painting a car kit with real automotive paint very soon, I just did a trial run behind the scenes
@@barbatosrex9473 awesome! Cant wait to see it!
Do you know if barbers can use this with dye for color enhancements for hair?
Yes they can
is there an option if you want a wider coverage of spray?
That is so funny I was looking into buying one for myself.
how could you use it with your pump when then battery pushes up the toggle? seems limited
The problem i had with cordless is wear, two of them and both wore out faster then i expected the air pressure loss.
Was it this brand or one from Amazon? Just curious as I have been looking into these as well.
@@fredgilbert2032 Brand and bought off Amazon a fluke maybe or try and different brand..
could you just use it continuously if you just left it plugged in?
Always assumed these cordless compressors were junk.. This is actually something to look into for those small jobs for which running an air hose from our shop compressor all the way upstairs is just too much work.
This is a nice piece of equipment well worth the asking price
The one shown here is made by "No-Name" but the Amazon link is for "Autolock". Is it the same brand?
I've had both and they're identical so I believe they are the same brand
Would i have to thin (can i thin??) aqua clear gloss for this airbrush too? Unfortunately, this is the only kind of airbrush i have.
Aqua Gloss isn't meant to be thinned. If you have trouble try a few drops of alcohol
@@barbatosrex9473 i was worried about that. i bought the aqua gloss after watching your video on chrome finishing. unfortunately, i only have one of these cordless airbrushes. but i will try the alcohol idea. thank you for all your wonderful tips and videos.
I'm 2 months late, but this sprays Alclad Aqua Gloss just fine without thinning
where can I purchase an adapter to use my badger airbrush with this compressor?
Lacquer thinner or Acetone will work. I use lacquer thinners with Testors and other enamels including my Mecha Empire paint line
Have you tried this with alclad ii? You mentioned it at the beginning of the video but then never tested that on camera... I'm really interested in using this for metalizing some gunpla. The PSI specs appear to be in the right range but how does it work in practice?
It works perfect with Alclad. Sorry I did it off camera. It's a great airbrush
@@barbatosrex9473 amazing, thanks for the quick reply, and please, keep up the great work. You're channel is an invaluable resource!
@@LawrenceValverde thanks buddy 👌
I bought one of them, it was a gocheer... worked ok for 2 weeks then it had to be plugged in permanently because it wouldn't hold a charge. Then after 3 months, its dead. I'll never get one again.
I'm planning to move to a proper tank compressor from this cordless setup. How do I connect this airbrush to the compressor? I am not sure what parts I need to connect it proper
It's a standard size adapter. It will fit the new compressor no problem
@@barbatosrex9473 I think the detached airbrush is missing an air valve, since it's sealed into the cordless compressor. Do you know what kind of hose would work with this airbrush?
I'm new to airbrushing so this might be a silly question: will this compressor work with the $10 harbor freight air brush kit?
Does acrylic dry in a gloss also or do you need to clear coat? If so what kind? Thanks
Most craft paint dries matte and require a clear Gloss coat
if you just press the power button, not hold it and turn it off; you can adjust the air pressure that way. I believe there's only two settings.
Thanks!
