In the Star Wars battlefront two mod tools you can say that they were indeed planning on including ground starfighters but cut them out at last minute because all of the space vehicles have a special signifier on them “sc” standing for space combat. Battlefront two is actually quite different because they removed the ability for vehicles to strafe like they did in battlefront one
My absolute favorite, since I was very young, is Battlefront 1. I just love Phase 1 clones and you can play them on literally every map. Also, they had 3 Teams on many maps, like tusken raidors, jabba guards, ewoks, etc. who could actually invade command posts as the "yellow" team. One of the biggest advantages to Bf 2 was, that there were spaceships on literally every map. Combined arms wasnt that common in bf2 unfortunately. As a strictly ps2 player bf1 was just a thousand times better than bf2. Better frame rate, better maps, much mich better ai, better vehicles, air vehicles on ground maps, no heroes spoiling the entire premise of the franchise etc. Bf2 did have a few advantages but they were few and far between.
I found an interesting glitch that I think triggers a function that was supposed to be removed. If you destroy your own auto turret defenses on some capital ships, its shields gain a regeneration buff. as in instead of being a health bar they start to recover on their own. I noticed after doing this for some reason, cant remember that part, then proceeding with the battle and noticing that our shields were still up well more than half way through the battle, they normally burn out about 2 minutes in. also repairing the auto turret defense does not stop the effect. Correction: you can kill heroes in the first game. It just takes knocking them off a cliff, landing a ship on them, or just giving them a ton of damage. Like, the amount of damage an AT AT can take
There's 3 ways to kill heroes in BF1: >Stunlocking with explosives and throwing them out of the map >Ramming them with a sufficiently fast vehicle >Landing a flyer on them (my favourite method and one I discovered by accident) All inconvenient methods to be sure

Good Video. I didn't know these about my beloved Battelfront. But I have to Diagree with you in One Pint. The "Bow Caster" on Dark Trooper and Clones. I absolutly Dispiese this Weapon, absolut useless. needs to load up to do Any Damage and Never Kills anything on One shot. reliable. I loved my Darktrooper in BF1 , Shoot & Scoot Taktics, Higly Mobil. with a GOOD SHootgun in BF1 in BF2 this never worked right, because of this Stupid Bow Caster change. :-( also. having the Granade lauchser of the Imperial Pilot was RAD ! I like the shotgun for Engineer approach, but BF1 Viriaty had it charm.
It would have made sense for the Clone Commander to have rank painted armor. Only the ARC Trooper and Clone Commander were supposed to have painted armor.
No, the clone captain (red) for the recon class is also supposed to have rank paint for phase 1 as seen in ep2. Edit: And technically the ARC's paint doesn't refer to any rank.
@@MarsiB013 yes i know, the recon class was technically the 'captain' since he was red. Still true, even though the captain was called sniper or recon. They had a commander skin but they replaced it with a clone pilot instead. And technically Arc trooper colours don't represent a rank since there are multiple ARC colours. They even switch from red to blue in the game.
@@invaderIRK1 That's the problem. Sniper and Pilot shouldn't be painted. Also the ARC Trooper should have been a map specific Heavy skin at this point. Trooper, Heavy, Sniper, Pilot, Jet all in white. Officer: green, blue, red, yellow.
@@MarsiB013 technically the Captain skin was given to the recon class which then suggests that is the captain. He even has the ability to call in orbital strikes using his recon droid. Its not 100% accurate but that's what they intended the class to be. And i think the Pilot class was supposed to be called commander or Engineer before they decided to use the pilot skins instead of the commander skin. They probably thought it fits better with the gameplay since they had flyable ships on the map.
I loved bf1 when you could command the your team... i use to play polis massa alot and just stand in the ice caves and spam "hold position" then once i get heaps of troops i say "move out" it made it so so awesome
2:50 actually they could be killed. If you used a jedi tank on a hero and kept driving into them it was possible for them to slip under the tank and die. It wouldnt count as a kill but they would die and respawn. Also on Bespin City, the bridge CP for the republic/rebels had a zone beneath it on the right side of the bridge that disabled the hero ai. If you placed a mine in the right location the hero would be blasted off the right side of the bridge and land in that spot. Once there the AI wouldnt leave nor try to attack enemies unless you were right in front of it. So while not a kill perse it did neutralize the hero.
They should've still kept the prone feature for the Snipers, at least. Imagine going prone in a bush as the clone sniper on Kashyyk. You'd be a total menace.
You can kill the heroes in BF1 making them fall of the map in levels like Kamino or Bespin Plarforms. The other way to kill them is using a big land vehicle like TX-130 and run over the hero until it dies and a message will appear in the feed, however, it takes a lot of time to achieve that.
You know what’s funny? I still have the PSP port of Battlefront 2. It’s very limited, but it’s at least some way for me to tickle that nostalgia-filled funny bone
Agreed, it was such a disappointment to play BF2 and realize there's no more proning option. Also the removal of cockpit view when in vehicles. Yes, it obstructed your view, but it was immersive. And i hated how they replaced the B1 droid in BF2 as the assault unit with the B2 model. Sure, it makes sense for several reasons, but i still like running around as a B1 with a blaster rifle. In general, the B1 is more slick than the B2. The least they could do was to let us have an OOM as the commander class, because those Magnaguards sucked!
I did think that the self-destruct ability of the recon droid was put in place in lieu of the orbital strike because many of the maps in BF2 were indoors or even within something in space (such as the Tantive IV or the Death Star) and it wouldn't make sense to be able to carry out an orbital strike indoors.
Fun fact, the yellow command posts are in Battlefront 2 but never implemented. Many mods that have three factions use them, but since Battlefront 2 only had one map where there was a three way battle, Jabba's Palace, it just wasn't necessary to implement it for one map. Also, if for whatever reason a 4th faction was to appear on the map, they could use a Darker White command post that looked like the neutral one but was more detailed.
i used to have fun finding ways to kill the "invincible" Jedi/Sith heroes in BF1: -any map with cliffs or pits, use a rocket or grenade to send them flying into the abyss -landing directly on top of them with a flying vehicle -ramming them at full speed with a speeder bike -using the forked front section of an IFT-X or TX-130 to catch them, and then push them waaaay out into the "out of bounds" area... where they attempt to run back to the map, get caught up in the front of the tank, and the game proceeds to kill them for desertion. this is best done with a Dark/Jet Trooper, since you can make it back to the map before you get got for desertion, and get to watch the Jedi/Sith keel over even if they manage to wriggle past the tank. sadly they just respawn over and over, but it was a fun challenge to find new ways to execute order 66.
Luckily for PC, Steam and I believe Xbox there are so many different Mods for Classic Battlefront 2. the Conversion Pack Mod for Steam & PC for Classic Battlefront 2 adds in all of the cut maps from Classic Battlefront 1 back into Classic Battlefront 2 with the vehicle situation all squared away. The Conversion Pack also adds extra new maps like Endor Spire, Concord Dawn, Raxus Prime, Haruun Kal, Naboo Prototype, Space Bespin, Space Endor, Space Geonosis, Space Rhen Var, Alderaan, Rattatak, Ord Ibanna, Methlyn, and Rakata Prime. They also included the KOTOR Era as a playable era in the maps as well. I highly recommend downloading it for people who are interested in playing the game again on PC & Steam and it is a must get mod.
Agreed. I could never get used to those gimmicky guns in BF2: darktrooper's lightning gun, magnaguard's grenade launcher pistol, Imperial officer's sound pistol, Bothan spy's flamethrower (which, for whatever reason had a different flame effect to Boba Fett's flamethrower).
@@georgeoldsterd8994 The timing involved in using it was very finicky to get used to especially in conjunction with a jet jump, and in 9 out of 10 situations you were better off with the shotgun. The Magnaguard's Bulldog RLR however was not half bad if you just spammed it at the feet of a group of enemies and ignored the lock on gimmick. 100% agreed on the rest though.
BF2 does have ships in ground battles, but only on Hoth. Like you said, they are incredibly overpowered, giving the Rebels a massive advantage even over the AT-ATs.
Not being able to play heroes was awesome. Just footsoldier action, not farming til you got a hero. And you could kill the jedi by knocking them off ledges
On pc there is a mod that lets gain access to all the old maps and unites, granted some models are different and more in line with the lore but still its pretty cool to go fight on maps like the wookie port and frozen caves
Yeah, too bad the flying vehicles use BF2's mechanics so you can't hover in place while flying the LAAT, and they always do barrel rolls when you're trying to simply turn left or right. Really ruined Geonisis and Hoth (in BF2) for me.
I played BF2 with the conversion pack and let me tell you airships need to be tweak because they move waaay faster than their bf1 counterpart making dogfights feel like craps. This is because they were ported from spaces battles and the ship are made to move faster to compensate the space battle's size. Also the gunship's main blaster is overpower.
1:11 it's worth noting that like aerial combat, it probably is still in the game's code as it can be reactivated with mods. Also was presumably removed since you can't have orbital strikes indoors :p In fact, what happens if you use it in Jabba's Palace in the original game?
2:43 Fun fact, you actually could kill Heroes in BF1. Though they will just respawn but there is a way, though its a somewhat pointless way. I thought it was common knowledge though Not gonna lie.
if you hit them just right you could kill BF1 heroes by running them over with a speeder but it was very inconsistent. And of course someone else mentioned ledging them with explosives
In the PS2 version (at least), you can actually repair the ship's shield generator in space battles with the pilot's repair kit. It just takes...so...fracking...long it's not worth it.
EMP Grenades were low-key quite useless for the Clones in BF1 as they couldn’t be used to ragdoll and stun Dooku. It made playing as the Jet Trooper all the time way more meta.
You could kill heroes if you landed on them with a ship, don't recall if they get permanently removed from the match or just respawn, probably the latter.
Remind me: frigates are those smaller ships next to the capital ship, right? As far as I know, most maps have two, and they don't respawn once destroyed as they're technically targets just like the capital ship's systems. Some maps might only have one, though, I don't remember.
Goofy thing (not sure if anyone has posted it yet), but in BF1, you could ram into Vader or Luke with the Speederbikes on Endor and put an end to their unstoppable carnage. I swear I remember this working, but because of how fast they can dodge roll, it's hard to pull off.
the self destruct isn't as cool as the air strike, but at least you can use it indoors. It's just a shame that it's harder to activate before your drone is destroyed by the enemy.
they didnt add ships for normal maps because due to the rework of aereal combat for the space battles the ships were to fast for normal maps, if you played mods you know what im refering to
If you landed a ship on top of the jedi characters they could be killed. Also on maps like Cloud City they could be blown off of the edge if i remember correctly.
Heroes could be killed in BF1, you just had to be creative about it. Sending them flying off the map, running them over with a speeder, landing a ship on them, etc.. Also, sometimes they would actually die from blaster fire if multiple people shoot at them rapidly and accurately. This is most likely due to how the game calculates things and probably wasn't intended to happen.
BF1 had a huge area of impact for vehicle cannons.Theres virtually no area of impact in BF2.You can't just shoot next to an enemy and send them flying like you could in the first
I disagree on the heroes part, heroes were meant to be unkillable and provide your team with a huge advantage which works really well if youre playing on hard difficulty. I have them on often and the enemy team does as well and i face little to no problems cuz i just ignore them
I always had one very specific question concerning battlefront II : when you play the clone wars era on kashyyyk you see that there are wookies that fight side by side with the clones, and when you play the rebels on any Other map, one of the special class for the rebels is a wookie soldier, but when you play rebels on kashyyk, are they natives wookies soldiers that fight at your side in addition of the wookie special class ? please answer my question the meaning of my life depends on it
Yea so the way to tell the difference is the health. The rebel Wookies special class have a much bigger health bar than the Native ones, so its a different file I assume.
I wish they mixed the two of them a little better. My favorite features from 1, going prone and flying in ground missions, could have been improved in 2.
Prone was cut for memory limitations, the heroes required quite a bit of memory, so things like footsteps left in the ground and prone were cut to allow for them, Personally i think its an over rated feature because the AI isnt smart enough to warrant it being necessary
I feel like Battlefront 2 was scaled back a minor amount from its predecessor to be better adaptable for ports (especially with the PS2 and PSP). Not that Battlefront 2 doesn't have a lot to offer, in some elements more to offer in terms of maps, characters and modes but especially in the graphics and detail departments its lacking.
I forgot to mention in this episode that you can kill them via running over, crushing or shooting em off the maps edge. But any reasonable method its not possible
I don't think the Dark Trooper is the worst special class in BF1. Obviously with the Jetpack, they can't really die to thermal detonators or can dodge enemy fire easily. Also they can get to high ground and shoot from a high angle, depending on the map.
Idk if this is just me but i actually prefer the dark troopers with shotguns, i never really liked the bolt caster on them. i think the main thing is that you have to charge it. True it's cool but i love playing a dark trooper in BF1, fly in, shotgun blast a guy, and then fly out just as quick as i flew in It's possible i also just didn't give it enough of a chance though.
god BF2 classic needs a remaster, just add the maps from 1 and the cool features like air vehicles and id be good dont even need space to ground combat.
I don't understand why we haven't gotten a full-blown remake of the two original games. We got remakes of both _Destroy All Humans!_ games (which were also made by Pandemic) but not _Star Wars: Battlefront!?!_ How is that even possible...?

But I have to Diagree with you in One Pint. The "Bow Caster" on Dark Trooper and Clones.
I absolutly Dispiese this Weapon, absolut useless. needs to load up to do Any Damage and Never Kills anything on One shot. reliable.
I loved my Darktrooper in BF1 , Shoot & Scoot Taktics, Higly Mobil. with a GOOD SHootgun in BF1
in BF2 this never worked right, because of this Stupid Bow Caster change. :-(
also. having the Granade lauchser of the Imperial Pilot was RAD !
@@invaderIRK1 I meant class not specific officer rank. 🤦
I remember heroes being killable on battlefront 1 on cloud city map as you could shoot them off the edge of the map with rocket launchers
4:38 yeah when I played bf2 with my ex she was so happy there was a first person option since she only plays fps games
They should've still kept the prone feature for the Snipers, at least. Imagine going prone in a bush as the clone sniper on Kashyyk. You'd be a total menace.
You have to one day make a super 1 hour video with battlefront trivia
2:45 I remember having to knock the heroes off a cliff to "kill" them. Pretty sure they would respawn after a while though.
In battlefront I did manage to kill dooku, I used one of the big blaster turrets on the platforms on one of the Bespin maps, blasted him off the edge
Also, if for whatever reason a 4th faction was to appear on the map, they could use a Darker White command post that looked like the neutral one but was more detailed.
i used to have fun finding ways to kill the "invincible" Jedi/Sith heroes in BF1:
-any map with cliffs or pits, use a rocket or grenade to send them flying into the abyss
-landing directly on top of them with a flying vehicle
-ramming them at full speed with a speeder bike
-using the forked front section of an IFT-X or TX-130 to catch them, and then push them waaaay out into the "out of bounds" area... where they attempt to run back to the map, get caught up in the front of the tank, and the game proceeds to kill them for desertion. this is best done with a Dark/Jet Trooper, since you can make it back to the map before you get got for desertion, and get to watch the Jedi/Sith keel over even if they manage to wriggle past the tank.
sadly they just respawn over and over, but it was a fun challenge to find new ways to execute order 66.
I actually prefer the Dark Trooper's shotgun in the first game. It felt like it got more consistent results.
This is why moding is a thing.
Starfighter air support and orbital strike were so good. BF1 also had a way better selection of maps than its predecessor.
2:40 Did my dude just call the Original Trilogy "The Sequels"?
Technically not wrong considering ep 4-6 can be considered sequels to ep 1-3 since they continue the story even though ep4-6 came out beforehand😂
I put HOURS into these games as kid loved every minute. Curse you Ben Pulastra my nemesis
I miss that they not only took out first-person view for ground vehicles but also the unique cockpit models in Battlefront II.
Hero characters could be ran over or landed on to take them out too, as well as the Sarlacc just straight up yoinking any of them that get too close!
Also the gunship's main blaster is overpower.
i vividly remember playing as pilot luke in the original bf1 on the hot map
you can only play as him in bf2
1:11 it's worth noting that like aerial combat, it probably is still in the game's code as it can be reactivated with mods.
Also was presumably removed since you can't have orbital strikes indoors :p In fact, what happens if you use it in Jabba's Palace in the original game?
2:43 Fun fact, you actually could kill Heroes in BF1. Though they will just respawn but there is a way, though its a somewhat pointless way. I thought it was common knowledge though Not gonna lie.
If I remember it right in Battlefront 1 there is a way to kill the heroes. You need a Speederbike and ram them with it in full speed.
if you hit them just right you could kill BF1 heroes by running them over with a speeder but it was very inconsistent. And of course someone else mentioned ledging them with explosives
In the PS2 version (at least), you can actually repair the ship's shield generator in space battles with the pilot's repair kit. It just takes...so...fracking...long it's not worth it.
On Tatooine, I pinned Count Dooku to a rock with a TX. Easiest round.
Tusken raiders in Battlefront 1 were a force indeed.
EMP Grenades were low-key quite useless for the Clones in BF1 as they couldn’t be used to ragdoll and stun Dooku. It made playing as the Jet Trooper all the time way more meta.
After all these years did not know concussion grenades did more damage to Droideka shields!
You were able to kill heroes in the first one. You had to run then over with the vehicles.
You could kill heroes if you landed on them with a ship, don't recall if they get permanently removed from the match or just respawn, probably the latter.
I played this game so much it’s literally in my DNA
If memory serves me correctly you can also kill the hero/villan in BF1 by landing on them with a ship lol
I have a question for the community. Does anybody know what determines how many frigates spawn in during a space battle?
Remind me: frigates are those smaller ships next to the capital ship, right? As far as I know, most maps have two, and they don't respawn once destroyed as they're technically targets just like the capital ship's systems. Some maps might only have one, though, I don't remember.
We captured the commandpost!
I'm a big fan of this game(bf 2004)
I played a lot of hours since i was 6 years old
I was like 5 back when I started playing it
I just ran over the heroes in BF1 if speed bikes were available (Endor and Yavin temple)
Ok I've played these for years and did not know about the orbital strike in BF1. 😂
they didnt add ships for normal maps because due to the rework of aereal combat for the space battles the ships were to fast for normal maps, if you played mods you know what im refering to
If you landed a ship on top of the jedi characters they could be killed.
In BF1, you could kill the heroes if you ran over them.
You could kill heroes in BF1 by hitting them with a speeder bike or knocking them into a chasm.
I could’ve sworn for BF1 my brother squashed Luke with an air vehicle and it caused him to kneel down similar to heroes and villains in BF2.
I forgot to mention in this episode that you can kill them via running over, crushing or shooting em off the maps edge. But any reasonable method its not possible
Bf1 was just so good in every way. Bf2 was a goodish step up but bf1 is the goat and if bf3 ever happens they have to make it on par with bf1
There's alot of stuff in battlefront 1 that I wish remained the its sequal
I don't think the Dark Trooper is the worst special class in BF1. Obviously with the Jetpack, they can't really die to thermal detonators or can dodge enemy fire easily. Also they can get to high ground and shoot from a high angle, depending on the map.
Idk if this is just me but i actually prefer the dark troopers with shotguns, i never really liked the bolt caster on them. i think the main thing is that you have to charge it. True it's cool but i love playing a dark trooper in BF1, fly in, shotgun blast a guy, and then fly out just as quick as i flew in
It's possible i also just didn't give it enough of a chance though.
The heroes in BF1 could be killed if you landed a ship on them, I spent whole matches doing that on Bespin lmao
Biggest diffrence in games was BF2(2006) on the xbox or steam have more maps than the PSP version
You actually could kill the heroes in BF1 by ramming them with a full speed speeder bike or landing an aircraft on them
god BF2 classic needs a remaster, just add the maps from 1 and the cool features like air vehicles and id be good dont even need space to ground combat.
There is mod Star fighter mod for battlefront 2 2005?
The fact we still can't play these on PS5 yet is criminal
Honestly
I don't understand why we haven't gotten a full-blown remake of the two original games. We got remakes of both _Destroy All Humans!_ games (which were also made by Pandemic) but not _Star Wars: Battlefront!?!_ How is that even possible...?
