I always liked how most maps in bf1 had two versions. Always wished that was the case for bf2 as well.
It shows how much care and effort they put into those early games. The fact you had to buy map packs in the remakes is a perfect example of how much the game industry soured between 2005 and 2015.
Yeah. Luckily there are plenty of mods for multiple vanilla planets in the game that add respective maps to those planets.
@@ReverseLBlock the Xbox version of bf2 literally had exclusive map packs you could buy, though. By your logic, the game industry was already soured by 2005.

Only the first game had free DLC (a single Tatooine map).
SW Ep2 The Clone Wars game was also made by Pandemic that's why there are so many vehicles from that game. They are all playable in mods.
Yep. Rhen Var also makes its appearance first in the Clone Wars game. Side note, the Clone Wars game is extremely underrated. It's not amazing, but it did feature very large battles, which was super uncommon at the time. The AI was extremely basic, but it was still cool to literally see hundreds of clones and droids duking it out on the battlefield. I was blown away by it as a kid. It looks even better with an emulator and it's surprisingly easy to emulate on multiple types of emulators. Like it's extremely playable with minimal fixes.
@@-CrimsoN- Rhen Var made its first appearance in the Tales of The Jedi comics in the 90s, which Kotor is based on (40 years after the comics)

@@carnage0685 Its a potential planet for the Kotor remake because of the source material, so keep your hopes up (but not really cause its Disney and modern gaming) It was my favorite planet in star wars and i played on it in battlefront for days as a kid
@@eyzmin Rhen Var Harbor is THE best fucking Battlefront map of all time. It's just so god damn cool, no pun intended, and while I do think Rhen Var Citadel is worse, it's still a very, very solid map overall. I'd put Harbor at 1st and Citadel at like, 4th or 5th. I just love all of the different parts of Harbor, and taking the AT-TE/AT-AT into the main part of the map and all of the different shit shooting at it in an attempt to take it down, and then you have the Ice Caves which vehicles can't get into, and it links the place where the AT-TE/AT spawns with the city part of the map, and then you just have this flat icy wasteland with no cover or structures on the other side of the map. It's just so god damn well crafted, I love it.
The Battlefront 1 Game Dev Bible is insane and it really shows how ambitious Pandemic was when first creating it. Its a shame we never got anything close to its scale officially.

where can you find it ?
I only grew up with BF2005 but seeing all this Battlefront 1 content makes me want to give it a try as well. Looks more polished in some areas.
Or just download some mods for BF2 that have these cut content.
I’d recommend it because it’s definitely a little different experience
I feel like Battlefront 1 is better in some ways for sure. As you mentioned, the game appears more polished. But the biggest difference between BF1 and BF2 is that there are no powerups in BF1. BF2 is an arcade like experience, where you can gain more power through upgraded stats, weapons, and unlocking heroes. BF1 will always have you be a grunt, no more powerful than anyone else on the field. This doesn't mean you can't change the outcome of the battle, you just will need more skill to do so. I personally prefer the "powerlessness" in BF1 because that was the game's appeal to me when it came out. Every other Star Wars game you played as a Jedi or some hot shot pilot who could take on entire armies by yourself. Battlefront offered the opposite experience, which felt more immersive to me in a way.
After Battlefront 2005 was released there was an update you could download that gave content from the first game did you ever do that?
@@DanBen07 Yes but the UI, Galactic Conquest, etc. are different in the first game.
The MTT is actually referenced in the manual of classic Battlefront.
It drove me mad when I was a kid, since you couldn't just look it up on a wiki or forum back then and the manual says "You can drive MTTs"
Here's a fun factoid: the game engine for the classic Battlefront games is actually an upgraded version of the Zero engine which is what Pandemic used in Battlezone II: Combat Commander. Certain visual quirks of the game engine carryover such as water, foliage, the fins on the TX-130 reacting identically to how they did in BZ2 and the treads of the Armored Tank Droid also looking identical to treaded units in BZ2 as well.
I’m sad now knowing that all the vehicles from the clone wars game were meant to be in battlefront. I love the designs in that game. I would love if ever the chance a modern day port of the original battlefronts but with all cut content. Like same graphics and try for that with models left out but like a battlefront ultimate edition

3:20 seeing this hit home, i remember as a kid getting the game at a mall for ps2 and while we were driving back i couldnt stop looking at the stuff on the back of the cover and seeing this exact pic
1:52 BF2 also has Rhen Var:Harbor, RV:Citadel, Bespin:Cloud City and Yavin 4:Arena.
I think that's an Xbox exclusive DLC

The AT-XT being cut from BF1 was probably one of the greatest tragedies in cut content, being my favorite ground vehicle in all of Star Wars. Had it been implemented it might of appeared in other future titles and media like the Sabre Tank.
It's a pretty cool walker, I'm glad we got the ATRT over it because it is more unique, but it would have been nice to have that guy on maps like falutica

Fantastic video! :) Star Wars Battlefront is a big part of my childhood and I absolutely love learning secrets and cut content from games I love. Im sad that good stuff gets cut for whatever reason. Still though, im so happy mods exist to restore them!
I really loved BF 1 like BF 2 was really good especially the campaign but I liked the mechanics especially the Prone system in the first game.... God I wished they remastered these game

LINE Juggernaut series. And can be listed as a Juggernaut variant.

Now with that information you should call the tank The A5-RX battle tank, or A5-Recon Juggernaut.

I've been told that on bf2's naboo map if the one side I'm pretty sure the republic has one soldier left, none more will spawn in, letting you take the entire droid army on just by yourself, I've never tried it though
It's like that for all maps and all factions so long as you don't have a hero on your team and you don't die after your unit count drops below 25

So a crazy thing that happened to my original bf2 copy for the original xbox was that one day when I put it in on my xbox one, it gave me a bunch of new maps in instant action, which included Rhen Var citadel and harbor, but also yavin arena and another map the name of which I can’t remember which was a hvv map, and it added Kit Fisto and Assaj Ventress as characters. Coincidentally they were both technically the ranged saber wielders for their respective factions, with Kit having a throwing orb and Assaj having daggers
I just remembered the other map was Bespin Cloud City. And I forgot it also had conquest and ctf variants
There’s so much cut content from Dune Sea, Endor, and Kamino that they could honestly have their own video
If i'm not mistaken the game manual for bf1 2004 still has the MTT listed as a playable vehicle or it was still in the game files, just not coded to be spawned in
Desperare Station was eventually implemented in bf3 and renamed Desolation Station complete with its own under construction Death Star

I wonder why some of this cool content was cut off. The MTT would've been brilliant and I would've loved to have played with the AT-XTs, especially on Rhen Var.
This ground and space system was on psp game, there you could leave ground battle, go to space and fight there
Feels like some modders gotta hook up and implement these ideas
So okay for the ps2 version of the game, the first and possibly second mission of the CIS in historic campaign has the droid sniper and droid engineer colors were swapped, having the engineer have that red back and the sniper have stock droid color armor. Though, if you go on instant action on the ps2 version, the engineer is the usual stock droid color with the sniper having the red back.

I would like for a future BF game to have all the main movie planets from episodes 1-9 as base game content for all modes and then expanded planets like Rhen Var, Corellia, Lothal, Skako Minor, Peridea, Moraband, etc. as several massive DLC packs with new heroes. I hated how limited maps were in EA BF2 where Crait was ONLY on Walker Assault, Bespin was ONLY in Blast/Hero, and Feculia was ONLY in Supremacy.
I will always live my life in disappointment knowing that the flashlight head assassin droid was cut

ARC 170 is a star-fighter not a tank. You're thinking of the TX130.

In the ps2 version of Battlefront 2, I keep running into this strange problem on Hoth. Whenever I use a snowspeeder and press the "next position" button, I swap to the tow cable position but the ship keeps flying straight off the map and I can't swap back no matter how many times I press the button. Does anyone know if there is a solution to this? The button works fine for other things like swapping weapons and stuff.
Solution is get the pc version probably got patched. Will work on any old laptop and can use any controller

0:47 it was in star wars battlefront 2005
It actually wasn't, the reticle in the middle of the screen is blue and smaller, the command posts on the mini map on the bottom left are green, and the graphics are different. That was the 2004 Battlefront.

I always felt it was a shame we didn't keep the standard b1 for an assault class, and have the super battle droid as a special unit rather than the gimped magnaguard

They used the cruisers at low altitudes in the psp games.. do more research
Not until Elite Squadron and even then they were seperated by a loading screen. They also couldn't be piloted.
