Did the vet have any answers as to why Jesse knuckles over the hoof on her right hind leg? She doesn't seem to want to put her weight on that leg. It was there in the last video and she is still doing it. It makes me think of "joint ill" except it is only one leg affected.
@@valeriestevens5250 have seen it before, usually the way the leg was laying in utero. If they can get her up and going it should work itself out with her using it more. Might have to wrap it for more stability for her once she is feeling better. I have had a couple foals do that at birth in my 40 or so years of having and raising horses and being around other horse breeders, wrap it for a month or two and it usually is good enough to take the wrap off and let her strengthen it the rest of the way, could be a tendon issue also (to long or sloppy of a tendon on the front of that back pastern) causing it to knuckle over like that. I have mostly seen knuckling over on the front knees, not pasterns in the back though.

When my mares foaled I always sprayed the umbilical cord end / belly button with an antiseptic solution to help prevent infection.

Praying for Jessie's recovery 🙏. I was just wondering if the vet checked the moms udder for milk. When you brought Jessie back from the vets it didn't look like she had much. There is a shot she can be given to bring on her milk if she's not producing enough. Jessie is so adorable I hope she gets better.
Yes.....Check mom's milk! and Make her feed her baby. I've seen it done.... tie her and hold her so the baby can nurse. If she doesn't nurse now...it will dry up.

I wonder if they need to make sure Mom's milk is giving all the nutrients that it should be? I don't know a lot about equine care...so I'm not judging just inquiring.
I noticed too that everytime Jessie has tried to drink the mom pulls away. Wondering if mom might have some mastitis. Just an idea, I pray she's doing a lot better. Wondering if Marie has any ideas since she's had alot of experience with donkeys?

Aww DeJay you just keep fussing over baby Jessie and loving on her she needs to feel that. I know how it feels to have a sick animal we're blessed to have a 24/7 365 vet thats 15 minutes away, and those minutes seem like hours. I know you will keep us posted and prayers for baby Jessie💞🐴🙏

we had a colt that was orphaned when we were kids. my sister took care of it and named it little orphan Andy. she fed it milk supplement out of a bucket a few times a day. i remember he going to the barn in her hs letterman jacket swinging the bucket around.

Praying for little Jesse, that she can drink from her mama and get strong. Just a suggestion, but I would set up a camera where you can see their stall and maybe you can keep track if mama is feeding her good. If mama is always moving off, baby may not be getting enough.
I was thinking the same thing about the cam. At least you know how much milk she getting if anything at all. Prayers for you to find out what she needs

I love that they too know so much about animals! I was not raised on a farm, but I have always enjoyed so many, many nature shows. Praying for baby Jesse. I love how you and Daniel care for your animals and I love how he supports you too. My partner isn't really good at being bothered. Just his way, I guess 🤷♀️ but when I had my stroke, he cried and he also cried when my granddaughter had to have glasses at age 3 (he also has glasses since he was a child) so I know that he cares deeply, I just wish that he would do more with me and quit complaining if he has to go to a family party or something. Refuses to go out to eat anymore too. But I guess old age does that to some people. Daniel is a great guy and really seems to support you so much. Give all the baby donkeys hugs for me. Love ya'll

I knew Jessie would end up in your lap. You two are the perfect pair for sure. Sweet family. I have never been so happy to see an animal nurse in my life! I need Jessie too! Praying for the baby and you too! She looked somewhat better the next morning. So glad to see that! Thanks for the updates too! she does look more alert.
