Funnily enough, in the original Alice Through The Looking Glass Book, The Red Queen is a completely different character from The Queen Of Hearts. Rather than Ordering people's heads to be cut off Left And Right, she was known for running really fast.

The Queen of Hearts is an old fave of mine so thank you for discussing her. This mix-up is similar to mermaids being called sirens when in reality sirens are females who are half bird not fish like mermaids.

Both Sirens and Harpies are human-headed birds but Sirens sang and Harpies just attacked with razor sharp claws.

There is a book called Heartless (I forgot the author) but it’s basically a head canon backstory of the Queen of Hearts. It’s not canon, but it’s really interesting and a good book
i loved that book but cried like a baby in the ending. anyways, it would be cool if it was actually canon bcs it would make a lot of sense. (SPOILER ALLERT) - the only thing that would be off is that the protagonist in the book loses her heart so that she's unable to love and doesn't feel the pain of a broken heart. if you take a look at the queen in the movies (meaning the tim burton's ones), she is actually cabable of love since she makes up with her sister at the end of the 2nd movie. i like to think of the book version queen as a younger self of the movie verion one but not fully with the literally heartless stuff
I love❤ that book, but the ending is so... gruesome 😢 Also the author is Marissa Myer. No hate, but the true villain here isn't Catharine(aka the Queen of Hearts), but instead Marissa herself lol😅

if you have ever played Chess, you would know, that the Queen moves all ways, as many squares as she likes, So, All ways, ARE the Queen's ways. it does not make sense for a Card Queen to say this, but if a Chess piece did, it would make absolute sense. there is a Live action Musical Version of Alice that has two parts, Alice in wonderland, and Alice through the looking Glass, and both are played separately, I would recommend seeing it. Also, if you look at the comic adaptations in the Grim Fairy tale stories, they are two separate beings and both have very different back stories which I Love. I have always preferred the Red Queen. I was never much of a fan for the Queen of Hearts, but I always liked the Red Queen. in all most, all of her incarnations. there is also a book Called Looking Glass wars, where the Red Queen and the Queen of hearts were sort of one, for a time, because Alice's Aunt becomes Queen, and she is by way of blood a "Heart" but also, her name is RED. good stories all. I enjoyed this vid, thanks for finally putting the Disney mash up, to rest for those who did not know.

But they don't really share the same thought since Isaac always research all comics, all spinoffs and all shorts and Ban and J says multiple times that they don't think the shorts and spinoffs count in the Disney Universe because they kind of break the idea of the original movie.

Red Queen certainly gets my vote. She's pretty authoritative, and kind of a badass. Queen of Hearts is mostly a big baby. Also, their amalgamation isn't even the weirdest one the 50s movie does. One character not seen at all in the movie is the Mouse, who seems to have been partially alluded to by the Dormouse, who, like the Mouse, freaks out whenever cats, such as Dinah, are mentioned, but even weirder, one of the mouse's lines is actually given to Alice's sister in the beginning when she's boring Alice out. It sure was a surprise to me reading the book the first time to learn that line was actually originally said by a Wonderland denizen.

It's not really hard to figure it out.
I personally love the red queen, she mad a perfect villain in the first story and when i saw the sequel she became a more likable character, and i felt bad for her. the queen of hearts is entertaining but i see her more as a hot headed child and not really a ruler. the red queen made strict laws, formed armies and did deal with her enemies. so yes, red queen is my favorite.
The beginning made me wonder... Would the Queen ever behead Jafar?🤔 Anyway so in the live action is the Red Queen a combo of the two? Makes sense why Wonderland characters don't have back stories just like Neverland inhabitants.The meaning of why Alice would conjure her up would be still considered a backstory however....
You should read the book "heartless" by Marissa Meyer. It is a turn on the queen of hearts and how she became the way she is. The book itself brought me to tears and kept me hanging on every page, so if it doesn't help with knowing her backstory you at least get a great book out of it, i totally recommend it.
Me and my sister came up with this theory and I wanna know your thoughts. Theory: Is Alice related to Wendy(considering they both have the same voice actor and they both live in England)?

i love alice in wonderland and all books that are related to the story, especially the queen of hearts has always been my favorite. i've read "heartless" and the "splintered" trilogy and what would always confuse me in the trilogy was that there were two queens - queen red and queen ivory (which in original would be the white queen i suppose) but there was no queen of hearts. or maybe the queen of hearts and the red queen were mixed up and ended up being queen red. it's been some time since i've read it now, remembering that the book did 100% mention the queen of hearts, too. but when i went through the pages, i only found queen red and it annoys me that those two different queens are portrayed as one, not only in this trilogy but almost everywhere. so i'm glad you explained the difference, it was about time somebody's done so.

The Red Queen from Tim Burton Underland is a combination between Queen of Heart, Red Queen, and the Duchess. The Red Queen never order anyone head to roll. She is less cruel but still unpleasant like a governess. She never screamed but speak calmly and coldly if she is offended. FOr comparison, the Queen of HEart is fire and the Red Queen is ice. One is like abusive parent that keep screaming at you and hitting you while the Red Queen is like a very strict teacher that would stare at you coldy instead of screaming if you do something wrong

Yet, people also forget the 1992 tv series Adventures in Wonderland. I suggest you look that one up. There's even most of the episodes on youtube. In that version, the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts is the same person but interesting enough, the Queen of Hearts is actually a fair ruler that loves her subjects. Being this series was aimed at a younger audience, she doesn't scream out "Off with their head" but she does have a temper and the residents do fear her from time to time, but she doesn't really try to hurt them. She's more of an ill tempered mother to them.

The Queen of Hearts. I enjoyed the Red Queen in the first film, but the backstory in the sequel was extremely lacking. Maybe it would've been better if they spent a little more time with it--either by showing how hitting her head might've scrambled her noggin' a bit to mentally turn her into what she was present day or by slowly showing her people turn against her first in order to build empathy--but the reactions of the bystanders when she first hit her head showcased that they were worried and cared about their young princess and she was cold, hot-headed, and cruel from the get go with the Hatter's family even though all of them but the Mad Hatter himself kept their composure during the crowning ceremony. That and, based on her father's words, her outburst then was far from a one-time occurrence. The fact that the sequel concludes with "all is forgiven" and a shrug when she slaughtered countless people--her husband included just because "he would've left her"--only makes it worse because we never see any sort of regret or redemption from her. Maybe they were trying to further highlight the ridiculousness of the world of Wonderland, but that doesn't work when those films were both strongly focused on darker and more serious themes: The whimsy that made up the original takes a step back in order for those heavier elements to shine through.

Red Queen, hands down. That said, while Alice Through the Looking Glass was a little peculiar, I loved that it gave us a little more depth to the character of Erasabeth/the Red Queen.

I recently did a play adaptation of “Beware the Jabberwock”. The play was by Ron Nicol(I think that’s you spell his last name). Percy, the character who I played was supposed to slay the Jabberwock, but he didn’t get all the way to that pallet. It was a great play.

There is another Red Queen in the card deck if you look beyond the Red Queen being exclusively associated with only Chess. It's the Queen of Diamonds. Marilyn Monroe, as a dyed blond, starred in the movie 'Gentlemen Prefer Blonds' singing 'Diamonds are a Girl's best Friend.' Following that movie one of the cast of the original 'Startrek' series, a blond, dressed up as the 'Queen of Diamonds' in the original 'The Manchurian Candidate' movie thriller became a hypnotic trigger to a subject for assassinating a political figure. So you have another variation on the 'Red Queen' in the card deck by Hollywood '.

Another fact, on the Mattel Series of Ever After High, both Queens are there as totally different characters( on the movie Way to Wonderland), there was the Queen of Hearts and her daughter, Lizzie Hearts and the Red Queen and her son(adoptive son) Chase Redford. I actually have my own opinion on the Queen of Hearts, the Red Queen, and the White Queen. I think each queen are personifications of cats Alice had in the of her stories. The Queen of Hearts represented Alice's cat Dinah (pronounced Die-nuh) while the Red and White Queens both represented Dinah's kittens.

The Queen of Hearts is the main antagonist of Disney's 1951 animated feature film, Alice in Wonderland. She is the tyrannical and deranged ruler of Wonderland with a sadistic penchant for beheadings. I don't like how they usually combine the Queen of Hearts and the Red Queen, they were totally different characters! The Red Queen was eccentric but was not mean and angry all the time and never said "Off with their head".
In the live action movie, she is the red queen, but had the queen of hearts personality and was even ornated with hearts.
