  • Maleficent’s Horrific Childhood Reveals A Dark Secret About The "Good Guys" In Sleeping Beauty | Villain Backstory
Maleficent has been one of Disney's biggest and most popular villains since the creation of her character in 1959 despite most fans not knowing much about her backstory. However, thanks to all of the love that the character has received from fans, Disney has created multiple projects that acted as a deeper dive into the character’s life. And because of “Mistress of All Evil: A Tale of the Dark Fairy,” a novel by Serena Valentino, fans were given insight into what really shaped Maleficent into the Dark Fairy everyone knows her to be. And it looks like a lot of it is actually quite relatable and stems back to something that almost everyone was subjected to at one point or another in their lives, bullying.

Had Maleficent not been shown such cruelty, she might have wound up being a hero, or, at the very least, a pretty decent fairy. In the "Descendants" franchise, she could have also been a great mother for Mal.

Now I get it why maleficent why she’s considered the darkest evil fairy every character has the origin why they become evil because people are mistreating them because of the difference Sarah Valentino she should do a live action in her novels but the Disney studio they said it was too dark for kids so they should do it in another platform like that there will be more dark content for adults because I want to see a mature Disney theme

Don't really care for a back story for the villains. Believe it or not alot of us love Maleficent without a back story. If I really need a backstop I'd read a non disney story, watch a non disney cartoon. There are quite a few.

In The Land Of Stories Maleficent was called the enchantress/Esma and the Fairy Godmother adopted Esma from this world and took her to the fairytale world and she was bullied a lot. The Fairy Godmother tried to help but Esma turned evil since she was brainwashed by the witches with a evil mirror shards (made by demons).

"Resist her evil intentions" presumes Maleficent had a predisposition to do evil and not that the bullying itself was a causal factor of her antipathy.

Again. These books are one version or interpretation of the much loved or feared villains. It's an interesting origin story. Of course, just because you were a bad child, doesn't mean you cannot change (Flora, Merriweather, Fauna). But such fairy tales require enemies.

It will be a great idea if they do a live action series about Disney villains only about them wow it will be wait times different than once upon a time why not to make a dark content about the Disney villains but rather put it on another platform not on Disney+ it will be too dark for kids as they say or they put it on Hulu or FX?!

interesting video. I can sympathize with Maleficent. as far as Mars and Saturn however while they are consider Malefic planets the correct phrase should be challenging rather than malefic. Mars signifies war, anger and conflict, but it also signifies courage, valor, and determination. Saturn is severe, and serious but it also can signify wisdom responsibility and experience.

Cinderella is fairy godmother she wasn’t tolerant towards maleficent when she started school in fairyland how could she hate her own pupils it’s not fair she should never put down her own students the fairy godmother of course most fairies they are depicted as beloved sweet goodhearted fairies the way they are symbolise to be gentle lovey covey so that’s how fairies are considered similar to angels but the fairy godmotherShe should have done more to control her students in the classroom is not fair how she put down maleficent

I'm not sure. In the 1950s Sleeping Beauty, Malificent seems to be self-assured and confident. I'd imagine she would be the queen bee at her school. Truth is, there are all kinds of faeries and different forms they'd take. Why would Malificent be *that* different?

So Merryweather Flora and Fauna bullied Maleficent. They're responsible for why Maleficent is emotionally evil. And they're really the real antagonists. Then why did they say in the movie that Maleficent never knew love when they bullied her to her to not exspecice love ever?

    • @nelsoncherrier3855
      @nelsoncherrier3855 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I'd say because to them Maleficient having horns still meant she was evil and therefore couldn't understand love.

When you demonize a person you remove the humanness of that person (or group of people). Then and as part of that process is the lie that they are devoid of giving or receiving any human emotion and by extension.. and this is the sick part... not worthy of any empathy or compassion.. in short they blame the victim for doing something to warrant being victimized. That the bullies' actions are justified. We call it deflection/gaslighting. The victimizers are seen as good (or godly) and the victims are seen as evil (or children of the devil).. sound familiar? Read the NT sometime.. the spellbook on how to demonize a people. And once you demonize a person, you dehumanize them, and once you make them less than human then all atrocities are seen as noble and valid and in some cases Righteous (up to and including murdering them.. though it's painted as a noble Crusade) and any attempt by the victims to stand up for themselves and to defend themselves is seen as an act of war and a "confirmation" of their evil status. Okay.. I've overanalyzed this FAIRYTALE, but we see this in history. And yeah.. this touched a nerve.

don't get me wrong it;s nice that one of the best villains finally gets fleshed out with multiple origin stories, but lets be real they'd have to make new movies for all these expanded upon former bafies cause back when they were thought up they weren't meant to be anything more than the villain in someone else's story, and she fits the role well.
that being said I think she could make a good hero if it's done right.
sure last time we saw her she was stabbed by a magic sword, but she wouldn't be the first character ever to heal from a mortal wound.

Well when your satanic and born with occult powers then you deserve your treatment. I donot feel bad for none of them. Disney need a version of van helsing who destroys all things magical.
