@@drewsabo807 he was not just stunt guy..He could talk very well and cut great pomos,he had great comic timing, and has given some of the best segments of all time in wwe, though he might have been average inring wrestler technically but he had great inring psychology, also could pull off different gimmicks at the same time and different roles other than wrestler..You cut all his stunts and still he would be one of the greats of all time for the memorable segments and promos he has given.. Also, his stunts were not like today's era..His stunts actually made sense, didn't seemed choreographed and had ring psychology behind it..

Mick is phenomenal. He was never really hugely athletic (well he never looked it) yet he could put on a great match and take serious bumps while also portraying brilliant character/gimmicks and on top of that he is extremely intelligent and a brilliant writer. Oh and he's an extremely nice guy :)
He’s one of the first wrestlers I met and absolutely one of the kindest. I watched him drop a duffle bag on the way to his car, dig through his gear for a sharpie marker all to sign autographs for strangers in a parking lot. They had a marker but he realized it was washable and wanted to do them one better. Anybody else would’ve just signed and kept moving or said “sorry I’m in a rush” and moved on. He’s the real deal. Very nice and articulate. I’m sure I don’t agree with everything the guy thinks politically but that doesn’t matter. People are individuals and he’s a very articulate guy.
That's not the real reason why. The Benoit double-murder-suicide happened in 2007. WWE went PG in 2009. They were also PG before the Attitude Era. They went back to the PG direction because they get bigger advertisers like K-Mart and Mattel now when before their biggest sponsor was Castrol GTX.

That King of the Ring 1999 match between Foley and The Rock, was the only match that I got personally offended. It was too F’d up. Even ECW never pissed me off that bad. I genuinely was upset at the Rock, because you could tell Foley was getting f’d up for real.

The note to keep in mind is that the wresting industry is a never say never place, and this has been established many times by different performers. Foley didn't go back on his word as badly as it is painted to be by some individuals.
I love him so much. Believe it or not, my favorite angle of his was being Commissioner and having DEBRA as his Lt. Commissioner. They complimented each other so well, and made such a great team ! After hearing what he says here it's crazy to think of the matches he was in after it. The Street Fight with HHH at Royal Rumble 2000, the Hell in a Cell with HHH at No way out etc.
The scariest thing here, he is a very intelligent person. Now I would expect some dumb ass to like getting hit with chairs, falling great distances on to tables etc. But somehow it is more worrying when an intelligent person does it. It is obviously a conscious decision on his part as a life course to take in order to be successful, so fair play to him.

Its sad how Foley talks about wanting to get out with his health, yet in reality after many comes backs for another pay day, WWE's medical staff wont pass him as fit to wrestle because of his head, knees and back injuries. He should have stayed retired. He'd be in much better health.
my opinion: you're right he should've stayed retired, and it is sad how he wanted to get out with his health and ended up leaving in poor health, but as a hardcore Foley fan who has followed him since his debut in 83 (when i say i *followed* him I mean it literally, I watched many different wrestling promotions for the first time due to Foley either making an appearance or joining the roster and staying a while) I want to say I've seen every match he's ever wrestled but I don't know that to be fact or fiction, it's Foley we're talking about he's been everywhere and had more matches than anyone, but I honestly feel the mass majority of the damage Mick had done to his body during his entire career was from 1983-2001 (more so 91-01), from his debut in 83 to his "retirement" in late 2000 (around the time of this interview) he "retired" in December of 2000 and since then yes, he did wrestle some more, but it wasn't anywhere near full time when we're talking about Foley, a guy who seemed to eat and sleep in the ring when wrestling full time, and since it wasn't many matches (for Foley) I just can't see those really changing how his health would be if he did stop in 01 as though he did wrestled more it really just can't compare at *all* to how often/much he wrestled in his prime as he was being thrown through and off hell in the cell cages. taking that fact into consideration it's logical to assume the mass majority of the damage he did to his body came from 91-01 and I'm sure you can agree with that, though he still went on a good run after his "retirement" but more so appearances, eg: special ref some matches etc etc rather than match after match. but did all those late matches effect him? yes it did, was it a bad idea? yes it was, but would he really have got out in much better health if he never took another bump after 2001?
