Major Jason Lowery is a US National Defense Fellow, Department of the Air Force Fellow, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) System Design and Management (SDM) Fellow, astronautical engineer, and active-duty commissioned officer in the US Space Force (USSF). Prior to attending MIT, Jason served as the director of operations for the USSF Second Space Launch Squadron. Before that, he was a founding member of the cadre of officers who stood up USSF, serving as the deputy chief of the commander's action group for USSF Space Operations Command as well as US Space Command (USSPACECOM) Combined Force Space Component Command (CFSCC). Jason transferred into USSF from the US Air Force (USAF), where he served as an intelligence analyst and subject matter expert in electronic warfare, blast and ballistics effects, and space weapon system design. Jason has multiple years of experience serving as a technical advisor for US senior officials, to include the Office of the President of the United States (OPOTUS), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSECDEF), and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). He received a master's degree in astronautical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Baylor University. - บันเทิง

I have read the thesis - twice. I continue to deep dive the parts I question. My reality right now is I believe it WAY too much. I'm ready to sell everything and put it in Bitcoin (not really - I'm too old for that but if I was younger I would). You MUST understand the block wars several years back to fully appreciate the SHA256 and Proof of Work security. Or even if you read the book you may question the theory.
The rabbit hole just got deeper.

a few bit missing, the bundle of people that are better at tech and impose thier power projection easily, and the also those that have better access to nerngy and resoruces to fabricate and use tech. The power projection required a functional production and tech tree etc behind it
About the importance of electricity consumption in proof of work. I like that it incentives production of cheap/more electricity. But I also feel that the cost of manufacturing ASICs should be acknowledged, will we reach a point where the cost of electricity will dwarf thecost of manufacturing advanced ASICs in the future?
Is electricity usage still the "primary value delivered function" then?

Bitcoin exchanges pure Empathy, it is a Human Construct based upon Immutable Truth. The human exchange of IT (Immutable Truth) is close to pure human Empathy.
Everyone who tries to understand Bitcoin can only understand IT from their own point of view, however, the alignment of all these approaches are Empathy for the future of humanity.

@@cadjuwadru NOSTR doesn't use bitcoin in a non-financial sense. 1) It doesn't require bitcoin at all. 2) The only involvement it has with bitcoin is allowing ppl to transfer bitcoin to others over lightning. This is a standard usage of bitcoin as a financial instrument.
I love Jason's enthusiasm and his analogies. But he takes the analogies too far to absurd, incorrect conclusions. For example, "bitcoin will increase cyber-security". No, it won't do that. The burden is on him to prove things like that, or point to the app that's doing it. There isn't one.
Some of the issues today like being censored on the internet. You could protect your content and no one could censor your video because with a decentralized internet no large corporation could collude with governments for censorship. Also theoretically in the future this could be used to verify election votes in real time. Using proof of work to create an immutable, verifiable voter ID could be implemented.

Cool, but the point is that we don’t want governments projecting power at all. The power of bitcoin is that it’s a voluntary specie money. Having governments projecting power with it would turn it back into fiat, would it not?
No because bitcoin has no controlling entity nor is it possible to reproduce bitcoin aka money printing
@@didactica9326 there are already entities that will produce paper BTC and sell it to you as a product they custody for you. The point is to self custody and prevent this sort of behavior. Don’t participate with entities that play the fiat game. There will only ever be 21million BTC. Make sure you are in possession of yours.

Interesting sequence of presumptions. If only there was a way to convert back into power, we could call it bit power.
Still not sure what your point was. People believe there is value in the ownership registered in the public blockchain not that it has any real-world value. You seem to have completely skipped over digital/social engineering theft of bitcoin, nor how global monetary agencies can track the public ledger to trace this "value" for the purpose of taxation/control of their separate citizen sets.
Let DOD rule the crypto territory, neither SEC nor CFTC.
I think about this very differently, but would be game to discuss over a beverage if interested.
If this is his audition tape for speaking with Congress, keep him away. He's simply wrong about the non-financial value of Bitcoin. He should drop that and stick with the facts:
- bitcoin is the hardest money ever
- the society with the hardest money always wins
- it's impossible to opt out of hard money and thrive
- we should all opt-in to bitcoin ASAP, especially gov't
- those who are against hard money are against human flourishing
If he wants to take a military angle he can add:
- bitcoining requires good cyber-security practices
- bitcoining requires good physical-security practices
- so military-grade cyber-security and physical-security practices should be employed to protect those who would store bitcoin for entities and protect bitcoin mining as critical infrastructure
- the US Treasury, and US Federal Reserve, are the wrong organizations to tackle these
