+JayFragz if that's your logic, wouldn't that mean the consoles priced around 300-350 in bundles could probably be found at even a cheaper price? If u plan to get any of these for the power, then u have to get the 650$ model or above for the much better i5 or the superior i7 since the first 2 models with a i3 processor isn't even worth the price increase and will be just as obsolete as the current systems in a few years. While the more pricy ones will still be usable for a few years- especially the i7.
+Curse Entertainment I have the controllers. It is different and takes some getting used to, but it is good idea. I think Valve made a wise choice with the design to make it comparable with as many games as possible. Obviously different controllers will be better for specific games, but it is a great all around controller.
***** Its a great living room device where you can play your PC games without dragging a giant PC into the living room. The controller works well with games where you usually wouldn't be able to. I also like the idea of dragging the console peasants over to PC if this gets popular. Especially so I can frag all of them...haha
Robert Watt I already have a desktop intel i7 gaming PC with two 980ti, a Razer Blade 2015, and another laptop for random stuff. I want a system dedicated to TV PC Console gaming. Don't be such a dufus. Did you even read what I said? It is Linux which is a good thing. It may not have as many games right now, but it will get them. Also it can stream the games from my desktop. On top of that it is dirt cheap. Don't be such a broke bastard and go work for a week and you can afford it. Easy.
The i5 is passable, the i7 will be amazing- but are u sure u want to spend 650-750$ and a second cpu? Mean while those first 2 aren't even worth looking at for anyone who wants a system that lasts into the next console generation.
mangasaint Exactly and you can't even upgrade the steam machine when it gets outdated which it will quickly. I'm sorry Ryein I just feel like this product is kind of a rip off. A way to begin a new brand to earn some easy money.
860m is pretty weak imo for a launch video card. For the price these are good deals. Let's be honest though who wants to play a triple A title at launch with medium graphics. In my opinion a starter pc would be a better option. For this much you could build a pc that is up-gradable and sell your old parts as you go getting cheaper upgrades. I think this second launch of steam box is going to bad once again.
+El Gansito (Carlos Gomez) The idea is to support SteamOS and then do custom mods on an existing system. This won't replace your normal desktop system to show off obviously.
It needs to be cheaper eventually if it wants to compete with consoles.
+Simon The Digger $400? isn't it cheap enough when it comes with a controller, faster hardware than console, and comes with a lot of games?
+Simon The Digger agreed
JayFragz actually $450 for the cheapest version. Can go up to $800
Simon The Digger
on amazon and my local bestbuy they go for about $370-$450 all the time. Still a great price for what's in it.

It's good, I tried, but the price...
Have you had a chance to use the new steam controller? What do you think about it?

5000 games on Steam? Then why does it say over 10000 games on sale?
It's the BADGER!
0_o I just don't see the place on the marked for this "steam machine". I would never ever buy one considering the price and what I could build myself.
So can any company make a different machine?
+B0T P5YCH0 Yeah and tons have. Check out the Steam Machines section. I think the Alienware one has the best branding though. The case is pretty cool.
>mfw prefers xbox controller over steam controller on FPS
it's... IT'S OVER 5000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
really dont trust slim pcs
dem heat issues with those tiny coolers...
whats the name of the first game you used

How do you connect an xbox 360 controller to it?
you cant its incompatible
+HMan Gaming which is why the alpha (identical hardware) ships with a 360 controller?
+Derek Furst because the alpha is using windows.............
NargacugaVQ no shit, but do you think they'd REQUIRE one for one console and NOT let you use it on the other? Any machine using xinput can use it
So get an alpha got ya
i find no use for this device, way cheaper to build you custom pc

@ironsniper13 any master race is bs
