Both bikes are very good for their respective segments . When it comes to the off road the Himalayan was always the best and it still remains today. The triumph scrambler is best suited for the city and short touring. It's Hard to choose between these two bikes . But if I want to choose it would be the Himalayan 450 .
That is a good choice too.
Nah! The Himalayan isn't powerful enough for long distances, and build quality of RE motorcycles is always doubtful.
I would never buy a RE knowing how they treat customers. One of the RE showroom is not delivering my friends Himalayan and also net letting go of the money. After months of frustration he bought dominar.
The conclusion was what my heart was looking for!! Just booked my Scrambler couple of days ago!
VP, as always, love your unbiased reviews!
Glad we could help! Have fun with the new motorcycle.
TRIUMPH Scrambler 400X is perfect Motorcycle it covers Off road, Highways, and looks killer.
You will be satisfied by all means. Also After sales service👌🏻👌🏻
Finally the truth has been spoken. The Himalayan hype videos on TH-cam from so many channels were getting a bit too much as everyone was lost in all the buzz created. I can always rely on PD to speak the truth and give a clean, unbiased review.
I have taken an extensive test ride of both the bikes and the Himalayan left me unimpressed. Maybe it was all the hype surrounding it which made expect too much. A second test ride gave me clarity and as VP said this is primarily for touring. I found it too heavy and tough in the city and quite big as well. It's quite vibey as well which not many speak about. You also need to see if you can handle the weight while off roading, I'm no expert and I found it a bit difficult but its hardware will do wonders for those who can handle it.
The Scrambler 400x on the other hand was a revelation. It blew me away and far exeeded my expectations. I didn't think it'll feel so light as it weighs the same as my Hness. I could not believe how fun it was and it just spoke to me. I could connect with it and ride it as I've been riding it for long. The only other bike that gave me such a feeling was the Adventure 390 when I first rode it but the 400X took it to another level. Also I always thought these high compression liquid cooled bikes would never have the low end torque like the big thumper engines from RE 350 series and this thought was solidified after riding the Himalayan 450. It felt like a KTM 390 if KTM put a lot of effort into improving the bottom end torque, yet not very tractable.
The Triumph engine felt exactly what I wanted from the Sherpa 450. Look its no RE 350 bottom end but theres loads of it and the tractability is amazing, it can pull literally from any gear.
After owning a KTM and then the Hness, I'm bored of the constant gear shifts while riding in the city so the 400x felt like a soothing ointment.
I'm now waiting for the first batches to pass and see if any issues crop up as I've already suffered a lot of teething issues with my bikes due to my hasty decisions buying the all new Duke in 2017 and the all new Hness in 2021.
Thank you PD and VP for this amazing video.
We appreciate this long summary. Very well done and thanks a bunch.
Hi bro. I also own highness black anniversary edition. If scrambler x is smooth as highness and has more low end torq then it’s feeling very exciting
@@AMRITPALSINGH-xo6dz I've seen so many people switching from the Hness to the Scrambler 400X. Even on the teambhp forum 2 people already have and many more are interested. Scrambler has a lot of low end torque and is very smooth upto 6-7k RPM post which there are vibes which I'm quite ok with. Test ride and see if you like it
Bro It Means Himalayan Sucks Or It Is Good.
@@harshraj5514 it means the Himalayan is good for a specific set of people who want to use it mostly for touring with some off road riding as well. Such people should also be ok with the weight and the vibes but they are also rewarded with arguably the best suspension. Also everyone needs to keep in mind that these are tube type tyres and repairing a puncture on such a heavy bike while on tour at an unknown location can become a nightmare. If you're ok with the these and some niggles that crop up on a new gen RE then you'll be happy with the bike. If some of these are deal breakers then it's better to look at the Scrambler 400X or 390 Adventure X
I chooses Scrambler 400X for better maneuverability and tubeless Tyre!! Both are Awesome bikes . ❤
Both are awesome bikes - Moral of the story :D
Believe me i own himalayan but Scrambler 400x my friend own that bike 400x is batter than himalayan
My friend got a Scrambler 400x today.. the bike seemed so agile and the engine was crisp! Loved it riding back to his home! Weight management was perfect! I love my ADV 390 a lot.. but this triumph for its docile nature got my heart today🙂
Do we foresee a 390 ADV on sale?
@@powerdriftofficial hehehehe..probably yes.. but change is gonna be an upgrade.. 😁 might go for the street triple r😝 since office leaves getting dearer day by day😭

Production quality is on point. This is one of those PD videos I could just watch and watch and never be bored.
There you go. Comment of the day.
True
I had soooo much fun on my Scrambler 400 during Tapola ride last weekend.
Great tractable engine, superb suspension. It handles well in the city traffic, handles well on the highway, handles well during cornering, handles well on soft-roads! This bike is just what i needed in my life! ;)
Many many congratulations and happy riding days! 😇😇😇
Wat is the mileage ur getting
@@gladiatorpsycho For this ride I got about 26 but i was riding with pillion and luggage and plus there was a lot of traffic. Otherwise 30+ should be possible.
Can you tell about after sales service ? As I am thinking about buying this Scrambler 400 but concerned about after sales support.
@@yuvrajs8080 it depends upon where you live. If you are living a a metro with a service center in a nearby location then you won't have any issues. If living outside then traveling might be a concern.
Well said! Honest Review - After test riding both, I booked scrambler. After being a RE rider for so many years I felt this as more fun and a good all-rounder. The New Himalayan has lost its character, I couldn’t connect it.
Right on!
If felt the same today. I was always a fan of the himalayan but couldn't connect with the new one. Felt like it didn't have a personality.
Man I just did 400kms highway touring on my Scrambler thru some dirty traffic and baddest roads one could imagine and I enjoyed every inch of riding. Did 130-140kmph literally effortlessly, manuevering thru traffic was piece of cake ( downshifting and upshifting is butter smooth ) and the machine is so light cornering gives lovely feeling and soft roading was pure fun. I was able to score 35kmpl on highway. It was hard to pick one from these two but scrambler I think is not going to disappoint with performance.
Perfect summary there.
was the 35 kmpl measured by you or just the dash reading? Curious cause i only get 28-29kmpl in the city
@@goofy5607 He said on the highways but i still say with the speeds he had... Not possible to get 35 tank to tank. I own speed 400
@@goofy5607I never checked milage in the city but I did measure it when I went on my recent road trip and it turned out to be 35kmpl when I cruised between 80-100kmph speed.
@@ajinkyakore2455 Of course not bro. 120-140kmph toh main top speed check karne kiya tha uspe utna milage nahi milta. But minus that top speed part when I cruised between 80-100kmph, milage was 35kmpl and I measured tank to tank. Cheers.
I still remember a comment from one of your previous videos saying your videos look boring with just people talking in front of a camera. You took into account and here you are with a banger video...The videography, edits, everything is falling in place .....Thumbs up...
Thank you :)
Wow, this is what I was exactly looking for.. you are the only rider who explain the things in universal language which everyone can understand… i was really confused which bike to buy among these two, and now I got an answer … I had 70/30 (Scrambler/Himi) in my mind…now I 100% go with Scrambler after watching your video ❤.. thank you
Cheers! Glad you liked it :)
Took a test ride of the Scrambler 400X just today, felt so agile, so smooth. Even though I couldn't flat foot it (height 5'8"), I was so comfortable on the bike with a pillion and the throttle response was impressive as well. Didn't feel anything on the bumpy roads. Job well done by Triumph x Bajaj.
Great to hear! And thanks for sharing your experience.
The quality pd video we wanted. Finally content worth loving by pd army. Long term fan of this channel, amd happy that you guys got your edge again.
Thank you and thank you :)
Absolutely brilliant 😊 fantastic video answering exactly the question people want answers to😊 thank you 😊

Crazy video.. really enjoyed watching it !! 🔥
Thank you :)
Great review & actually it's quite fair to put these up against each other. I've been scratching my head for a few months now over these two bikes, but alas neither have reached the UK yet. I think as an everyday bike I'd prefer the triumph, but I do have some adventures planned so for that the Himalayan is the better choice. Having said that, my adventures will be the B roads and byways of mostly the UK and avoiding motorways like the plague and it seems the scrambler would be very capable of that?. On the other hand, the much larger petrol tank on the Himalayan means fewer pit stops and would do better at carrying luggage so would i be happy living with it as an everyday bike?. I can't afford two bikes so I do have to choose one or the other.
Bingo Max. The Scrambler should do the job really well. As far as luggage capacity goes, the Triumph should be able to handle saddle bags with a saddle stay in place. We also suggest a test spin of both these motorcycles. Should clear those final doubts out.
Thank you for this video, I also had similar feelings after riding both of these motorcycles and after this detailed comparison I think it makes more practical sense to go with scrambler400. I live in a metro and my ride mostly will be limited to the city roads and Scrambler seems to be the perfect for that setup. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
1. Regarding your take on tubeless spoke wheels, I would not consider it as a deal breaker because at this price point I guess it is too much to ask. One can definitely add it as an accessory once the approvals come through and at an extra cost it is still definitely worth buying. Until then one can definitely manage with sealants.
2. People talk about vibes and Buzz but in most rugged motorcycles one just gets used to the feel of it in high speeds. Thats infact a way you feel the high speeds.
Rest are totally agreeable to me..... There are upsides and downsides to both vehicles and you choose one based on your needs.
My opinion: If you go on a lot of weekend rides and also explore some offroad tracks. Then buy the Himalayan 452 and not the scrambler. If you just want a sexy looking vehicle with some occasional highway riding and decent suspension to get through general bad roads, then go for the scrambler.
Sure thing. We appreciate your opinion here. Thanks for writing in.
Just found your channel. Great content! Subscribed.

Good going team. The heydays of PD on track to be back 💪🏿
On track yes!
Good one! It's great to see you actually pick one bike of the lot unlike in most other reviews where journos basically make a video specsheet with ride experience and have no opinion of their own at the end!
Thank you! But then again, it was VP’s choice and some of the janta might not agree
@@powerdriftofficial It's not abt what people agree with or not! I think in all the comparo videos, the presenter must pick one of the lot rather than making a theoretical subjective statement!
Well said!@@Abhishek4893
Excellent comparison and just what I wanted to hear. My ordered 400X is coming in January. I hope! I sold my beloved 2016 T120 and retired to Southern Portugal a few months ago. I wanted another Triumph but with less displacement, less weight, and gravel/paved road competence. The release of the new Scrambler is perfect timing for me and I believe the perfect bike for the Algarve and my age!
Happy riding with your new Scrambler! Cheers :)
Love the way Varun presents, seriously really well done.
Thank you Aravind. VP and the entire team loves this comment.
Fantastic review Team PD / VP. Can’t agree more with the conclusion. Recommend the Himmy 450 to many for their needs (two up with luggage adventure touring) but personally, bought myself a Scrambler 400X. It felt like the better bike for “me”.
Thank you so very much! Have a good one with the Scrambler. :D
I completely agree with your conclusion. I took a test ride is 400x and it is so agile and quick, that I'm not able to convince myself to test ride h450. I didn't like the weight management of h411 at all. While I'm 6'1", i like my bikes lightweight, agile and reliable.
Bang on with the explanation Abhishek.
Abhishek does it feel or look small on you...Am 6ft 2 and confused between the two...
@@JoeMama-rr6pt 400x looks decent, not small. I took pics also. But only from looks and proportions standpoint, h450 might look better because it is longer.
Proportion wise himmy suits better for 6+ height ratio i guess
@@abhishekdanej but it doesn't look small like the speed 400 right?
The sound stage for the edit is brilliant .. welcome back, PD
Thank you! Appreciate the love.
To the point review, very well presented. And yeah, the scram is an all-rounder, and can go off-road, tour, daily driver. I mean u can't go to office on the Himalayan and how many people do touring and off-roading so often. Scrambler makes so much of sense.
There you go. You have made a choice.
I felt both have several deal breakers, at least for me.
Scrambler:
Short wheelbase
Pillion have no space. Even foot pegs are way closer
No Windshield
Overall very small looking for a 4lakh price tag. ( Presence is bit better than speed 400)
Analogue Tacho would have made sense. They went the other way.
Feels less suitable to load with several baggages for long tour programs.
Himalayan have all these, but lack tubeless tires. Even it comes, will come with a hefty price tag.
RE engines and Vibrations are inseparable. Test ride vehicle had vibes, high tappet noise just after few months since launching.
I would not hesitate to book a yamaha or honda, if they come up with their reliable engines in a huge body like himi even with slightly heavy price tag.
Good summary and in line with what we have mentioned. But neither Honda or Yamaha will come this affordable.
Answer is cb350 hness
scrambler is 3 lakh motorcycle though unless you from banglore then every bike is overpriced.
Powerdrift proves that quality can also match quantity❤
Thank you kind Sir!
best comparison I've seen until now, subscribed btw.

great review but the video!! the video it's incredibly high quality!! stunning!
I think both the motorcycles is perfectly made for serve their purpose.. As I have dream of doing hardcore off Roading, I have been looking for adventure machine in my budget, thank so much RE for Himmy 450. I hope in near future they will keep improving this machine.
The Himalayan is brilliant off-road. Just too too good.
Thankyou PD for this much awaited video comparison between the two bikes. Both bikes are very good i've test drive it but at the end of the day Scrambler won my heart and ive booked it right away.

Its a solid bike.
@@powerdriftofficialWhat about the chassis break in the new Triumph Speed 400..? Is the chassis the same in both bikes. Scrambler 400X and speed 400..? I am planning to choose between Himalayan and Scrambler
Bought a Scrambker 400X. Since I dont do hard off raoding as one needs to realky search for surch terrains now, soft off road capability is all what I need.
The brand value, built quality and the fit and finish keeps me looking at it and feel happy alwqys. The sound is realky great and and how it manners ovee the twisties is so good.
About the Hinalayan, I know it a vwell capable bike offraod, but the bulk, the unrelability and the lack of allay wheels made me fall for the scrambler X.

Great review. Thank you. I was able to ride the outgoing Himalayan in Brazil a couple of months ago for a proper 4-hour tour doing highway, city, soft roads, and oh-my-God off roads. Despite its shortcomings, a great bike and a great price. It's not fair, because I would love the Triumph. I'm leaning to the Himalayan first, and the street 400 later. Although price on the Himalayan may be the decider. I'm hearing 6-7K USD, but we'll see. I think they'd have to keep it under 6K USD (e.g. 5,999) to be competitive with the Scrambler.
The new Himmy is way too good. 10x better than the 411. Looks like long test rides will solve that problem for you.
finally the video from PD that we all been waiting for.
Oh yeahhh! Good morning :D

What a stupid thing to be saying. It's called being creative. You need to unsubscribe if you don't like it. I've been seeing blind hate for @powerdrift lately
I have taken a test drive on both... In the end it boils down to your preference and the bike which feels better to you... I personally liked the Himalayan more... The triumph ergonomics was too upright and the brakes felt soggy vs Himalayan...That said both of them are VFM.. I booked the Himalayan today and looking forward to riding it soon..
Congratulations. The Himalayan is a fantastic product too.
"soggy" is an understatement. I took test ride of both bikes back to back since both showrooms were next to each other in gurgaon. I was shocked how bad the brakes were on triumph. And also they give a "test ride" of barely 2kms so cant say much about handling. But Himalayan felt a much better product overall. I liked its engine better as well as comfort and brakes felt just as good and My GT650.
Nice report. Still deciding which to change my Meteor for.
A great video i needed 🤝🏻
Glad to hear it!
Sitting comfort is way better in 400x compared to Himalayan
Both are equally good
Like VP said, both the motorcycles are very comfortable
The fact here is Himalayan 452 may be a good offroader but most of the time 70% - we will use it for commuting and in tarmac road and 30%-40% it will be the potholes and bad ,broken , mild offroading , so mostly in traffic here we have the good low end torque and reliability in Scrambler 400x which is missing in RE .
And also look wise scrambler 400x turns the head towards .
So the wise choice would be Triumph Scrambler 400X.
We all know this 😊
We definitely know where you are headed :)
Proud owner of the speed 400, happy with the bike riding it regularly to and fro from college and other work ❤🎉

The tubeless spoke wheels on himalayan is the icing on the cake.. love for both the bike ❤
Oh for sure.
I would choose the RE Himalayan because it looks badass (I really like the looks of the RE) and the practicallity over the Triumph. With Triumph and all other scramblers it is they want to go everywhere and the RE Himalayan can go everywhere. It does not pretend to be, IT IS the bike. As said, I would choose the RE in a heartbeat.
Not a bad choice at all.
Practicality n Tubed rims should not coexist. Please get your rims changed whenever RE comes with tubeless option. One more reason why you see very few ktm 390 adv sw on roads.

Perfect.
If my primary purpose is touring as I already have a scooty for city commute. Which one should I go for ?
The Himalayan for sure. Better motorcycle on the highway.
Good review. Both good looking bikes and would work for me. Price when available (Argentina) will be important. I wonder how much better they are than my old Honda 400 with 30 hp.

The dissipation shouldn't bother you. Every motorcycle will heat.

Good thing to mention about the tyres… such a bummer! There hardly are any options in terms of tyres since people can’t import… Apollo tyres should already started an alternative for eg. in the Tramplr series… if people consider it as an option…
The Tramplr series is actually good. We tried that and came back impressed.
Good video 👍 I prefer the Scrambler one
Good choice!
Just a thought how about we get a spoke wheels on the scrambler, will it do the job like an Himalayan ?
Nope. Its the suspension setup too. The Himalayan is too too good.
Great video overall!
For daily commuting, between the 400X & the Interceptor, which one do you think is better set out of the factory?
Stay strong, ride on!
We feel the 400X is a better choice.

Thanks Yagnesh
Very interesting comparison, thank you. As for me, while I am not particularly interested in off-roading but rather in "cruising," I should choose the Himalayan because I find it more suitable for my build (I am 6 feet tall and weigh 85 kg), while the 400X seems far too "compact" for me. But in any case I really think I will wait for the arrival (2024?) of the Hunter/Scram (?) 450, Cheers!
Anything that involves highway riding will favour the Himalayan.
All right, thanks!@@powerdriftofficial
