The triumph scrambler 400x would run rings around the himalayan in tight difficult sections off road or those looking for a more relaxed bike off road. The Himalayan is 17 kg heavier than the Triumph which is a huge difference in weight off road & a major draw back in difficult situations particurely if you're not a tall athletic person you could quite easily find yourself in difficult situation off road especially if you were on your own. Turning around on a steep-banking gravel road on the Himalayan for someone around 10 stone & 5' 7" would be not only difficult on the Himalayan but could be dangerous especially if you drop it. Part of the problem is the new Himalayan is taller-longer & wider than the previous model & only 4 kg lighter.
Most guys don't need the 450, it's a purpose built bike. Besides, you'll need to ride it fast to take advantage of the hardware it comes with. For most people, scrambler makes more sense as it is the best of both worlds.
My present combo is a Suzuki VStrom 250, 2023 model and an X Pulse 200 4V, 2022 model....Man, my total joy harbested already is much more than what I cd ever have, owning a single bike of the calibre of 390 Adv, Ninja 300, Scrambler 400 X, Super Neteor 650, Interceptor tl650vor Himmy 450.... But then, chosing a bike for the occasion, say city commutes incl 'within city longish drives'....then its my X Pulse !!!..grt on all speed breakers, Pot holes, rumbler strips,...great rides and pick up too, more than adeq for city speed limits !!! Next is medium/ long Highway rides...any day, V Strom...reason...seat comfort rather than anything else....!!! The narrow X Pulse seat is crappy at best, in terms of seating comfort beyond an hr, hr n a half...esp with guys like me, with reasonable hip/bottom side....As against this, the V Strom seat is great for long seating hours, though its suspension is no match for X Pulse !!!!.and yes, V Strom holds a comfy n relaxed crz speed of 115-120, while the X Pulse gives u that at 90 -95 kmph... All said, i am more happy having this combo than say, only Himmy 450, Adv 390, etc ...Trust me guys...and my total outflow acquiring them brand new, was 3.85 lacs on rd, all incl. I strongly recommend my combo to more genuine bikers. As a grt news, V Strom has grt discounts going....on road price wkg out to anywhere between 2.35 to 2.5L Quite worth considering, whether u add X pulse to the stable or not. Happy riding👍
Personally don't like the Triumph feels too small for my frame, Love Himalayan for the big bike feel and of course the tech. Honestly Triumph geats more the the RE. The suspension on Himalayan is the best in Segment. Seat height can be issue for people but not unmanageable. KTM us a great bike but of late RE has improved so much.
4:42 quality issues break my heart right now frame issues bhi arise hue 2-3 kya kare bro delivery lu ya drope kar du... old himalyan ki treh dhoka na milay
Hi sir. I’m coming from an Interceptor 650 and l face lotta issues with wobbling and fork alignment. So l decided to sell it and buy a bike that is sorted and does not have all these issues. Which bike should l consider? I am 6 feet tall. My priorities are 70% city and 30% highways
Both bikes almost have the same performance but if you want more comfort then I think Triumph speed 400 should be your choice but if you want a more aggressive engine and a proper riding posture then you can go for 390. As a Triumph speed 400 owner I am pretty happy. I wanted comfort and retro looking motorcycle. But if you want digital display and more sporty build then go for 390.
Great analysis Dhanil, I feel the new KTM 390 Adv Rally is THE best all rounder bike currently for the sheer value, features and experience it provides, period!
Convert the Himalayan exhaust with an AEW link pipe and AEW exhaust to loose some weight where the Himalayan comes closer to scrambler weight less than 190 kgs
Hi bro!! This is an Interceptor owner from Chennai. I’m 6 ft 1” tall. Can l consider Scrambler as an upgrade to my Interceptor 650 ? I’m not very sure of the Himalayan as you said there are quality issues. If there is any other option better than Interceptor please lemme know
I took scrambler at 3 lakh with minimal accesories, bike is awesome compared to himalayan Trust me , u feel the rides on scrambler is soo cool and fun , but lack of bluetooth connectivity
I really believe Triumph did an amazing job except one crucial aspect for me. Wheelbase is too short, pillion seat is nice but too small/short. With a longer wheelbase of 10cm would have been perfect.
one issue with the assessment of the seat height, at 5.6 ft Himalayan is better than triamph due to seat height and shape of the seat. So himalayan is for tall riders is not a correct statement
I don't understand how KTM Adventure 390 is better of both worlds ?😂 It is neither a city bike nor an off-road bike, it's just an adventure tourer that can do mild off-roading. To conclude: Triumph Scrambler is Jack of all traits, master of none. Himalayan is a proper dual purpose adventure motorcycle and KTM Adventure 390 is just a tourer.
Hi...me and my wife work together and our office is 50 kms away one side in Himachal. So for a 100 km of daily run in Hill's with pillion which one of the two bikes would you recommend.,?
There is a better and more reliable option than himalayan..ie., Ktm adv 390 x...go for it.Your tripper navigation is useless in himalayan, fuel range meter is not proper,it is top heavy, tubeless is still not available, if you get puncher on such roads pushing heavy bike will be impossible, you still donno whether engine is reliable. So i would ask you look for adv 390x or scrambler/speed 400. edit:- adv 390 x is cheaper than himalayan now.
Scrambler is more suited to the Indian rider, unless the rider does regular 500 km/day rides... then only the Himalayan makes sense. Triumph makes better motorcycles than RE.

Seat height is 835 on the Triumph!
825 on RE
triump is not small, it is just that the himalayan is too big, uncomfortable for daily commutes
@@rayan8847 Again it's subjective as I said small for my frame ... Someone lean and fit it might be better suited
how come 835mm seat height for shorter rider and 825mm is for taller rider?
Thanks for the information, it helps us to buy the right bike.
Wich bike do you say at the end is the better option to buy?
Actually happy with the interceptor 2019 model , now converted with alloys
One more point to be considered is the service, here RE might have edge over Triumph
Aaj dhanil bhai ki izzat badh gayi🎉. Honest review bawa,
when comes to service , RE will get the worst experience .

There are issues of scrambler 400 swingarm breaks and engine oil leakage.

Good review clears confusion

My height is at 6’1” (186cms). Will Scrambler 400X be a good choice??
Without tubeless tyres this bike is dangerous to ride at high speed on higway

Two test drives on the 400X. Everything seems fine. Except having a right shoulder arm pain. !!!
Price difference is almost 60- 70 k including tubless spoke wheels
Bro, height is short and 834MM seat height does not go hand in hand..
I really believe Triumph did an amazing job except one crucial aspect for me. Wheelbase is too short, pillion seat is nice but too small/short. With a longer wheelbase of 10cm would have been perfect.
Definately not a longer wheelbase. It should be shorter for wheelie s and sharper supermotard cornering
City ka off roading 😂 apt description for what it's like to travel on our city roads
There can’t be any comparison between 2 because Triumph isn’t available I mean dealership network
i think it is a best shortest explanation....
one issue with the assessment of the seat height, at 5.6 ft Himalayan is better than triamph due to seat height and shape of the seat. So himalayan is for tall riders is not a correct statement
How about BmW GS 310 as another optoom ro Scrambler 400 X?
Shove em both... I'll buy an old himmy 411 for peanuts 🥜 in a few months.... Plenty for my location 📍

Triumph makes better motorcycles than RE.
1) Indian riders aren't usually 5'11' & above (seat height 835 mm!)
2) Indian roads need all the help from your suspension (Him 450>>>>)
Very well explained
