    What an excellent representative for Autism. These are the kinds of people needed at the top of support organisations. Someone who understands the issue and can talk straight and honestly about it. An excellent spokeswoman.

      As someone with ASD and a language disorder a super majority of the support I required was a smaller curriculum. I got that by outright leaving school and going remote in so doing the bloat fell off.

    Surely theyd be better off tackling the dodgy overcharging that goes on, as a way to reduce the cost blow out

      Yes. That's the actual problem. Fluff all is getting to the actual recipients.

    Maybe the grubberment should be looking for causes of autism and dealing with that too.

    If autism was my only disability, then I could live a fairly normal life with minimal support and that's something that the state should be able to do. Each person with autism is obviously different and some need more then offers. My chronic illness however means I need more intensive support. In theory having state take more responsibility for people who only need minor supports makes sense. I do think we need to be careful to try to make these supports similar across all states. I've lived in WA, NSW and Victoria and have often visited SA. It shouldn't matter where you live, you should be able to access comparable care no matter what.

    Most disabled people would prefer to be able-bodied, living in a world that makes sense.

    The problem with expecting schools to support these students is, that these students often don't qualify for funding for that extra support. We have a 3 Tier system. Tier 1 is mainstream classroom teaching. Tier 3 is funded supported students and then Tier 2 is those students who require extra help but don't have funding. We are finding more and more students aren't qualifying and fall within the Tier 2 range. At the school I teach, students with Autism that aren't eligible for Tier 3 are called SWAN (Students with additional needs). Just because they have Autism, doesn't mean they automatically qualify for funding. So removing them from NDIS and handballing the issue to schools is not an effective strategy.

    The government likes to treat everyone with a disability like a cost, but never talk about the cost of looking after old people. This makes it hard for motivated people with disabilities to have successful careers because of the false assumption that everyone is the same.
    They need to crack down on registered providers rather than participants.

    It's not an overdiagnosis. We are becoming more able to diagnose Autism especially in females. NDIS is the only lifeboat in the ocean for both Autism and often co-current psychosocial disabilities. I predict a lot more suicides if you take our lifeboat away. I got one hour of support per week before NDIS came in.

    Im on the NDIS due to Spinabifida. I have mobility issues and often find myself wondering why people without physical disabilities are given funding for cleaning and gardening services.

    I do agree for children in complet disabilities and also all ages yes. But for the peoples who can work whith disabilities whith good driving car. I am against. And some of them. Have they support worker. Just to 4 hours spending time whith them for having just having coffee, going to walk on the beach when is all finish. 4 hour visit charging ndis 18 hours. I think some workers have been abusing the ndis organisation fund for they owne benefit.. cause that stealing money. Check out.😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮

    It is strange that the hard working tax payers who are funding this scheme have little or no say how their money should be spent? Bear in mind, we as a nation are drowning in debt, our Budget deficit equal to 1.40 percent of the country's GDP in 2022. We should look after the less fortunate, but charity cannot be forced; it will lead to wasteful spending and eventually we will run of other peoples money.

    • @watchedgarden
      @watchedgarden 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So it's not companies like Amazon or Google who pay no tax who are the problem? It's not money hoarders like the American Buffett who admits that he pays less tax than his Secretary?

    • @evelynspaghetti4978
      @evelynspaghetti4978 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Are you saying that people who are differently abled and their carers are not working hard to keep up with a system and society that doesn't do really anything at all to include people with different abilities or functional struggles ?
      Are you saying that they should have equal say in the tax money ?
      It's strange that a hard working taxpayer is offended by fundamentally necessary programs and refers to them as charity, and not the billions of wasted spending on economic programmes and upgrading affluent suburbs for no reason.
