3 aspects stood out to me as bothersome as they seem unintentional rather than by choice; Overly detailed, humanoid, same size/structure just bulkier. Explicitly for overly detail, this directly goes against what pokemon even defined/refined as a design concept for a francise, as the original designer of the first pokemon intended and still lives on in current design choice. The early stage pokemon are meant to look simplistic with destinct, but limited features, normally an animal/2 animals + a concept gimmick without too much detail in wings/tail/antlers/extending bits, as that complicates your ability to remember it, which is the main focus when you try to sell merch off of something. This is intentionally done including in the character you play with, who is meant to look basic/simple(besides gen5, where they stated to go for a cool design), as they aren't intended to be a main focus and instead excite to see what comes next. Which is why the final stages of pokemon typically have more detailes worked into them, this is especially true for legendary pokemon as they full on grab attention by being on the cover of the game. Exceptions of over design do exist in pokemon for example with Hoopa-Unbound, but those are the exception confirming the rule as they are that far out. Even with ultra beasts who go intentionally far out with design to not look like pokemon anymore, are often still toned down overall to make them easier to remember. I still remember just how many people were sad after seeing how humanoid and, bland the starters of gen8 are, and to me this also feels like a massive line up of that same issue. Same size/structure is showing in the ones Lock showed at the end and a few more, with added personal complaint there are too many dress shaped plants.
Both introduce to and bought this game because of this video. I played almost non stop for 37 hours to beat the game, and wow was it a fantastic adventure. The story is amazing and the combat is wonderfully fun. You are constantly changing Nexomon and using different moves to counter, speed up, and apply side affects.
Ok, so remember how you used to do those videos giving characters from different franchises Pokemon types? Well maybe you could bring that back with Ben 10 Aliens. I'm personally a huge Ben 10 fan and would love to see that
Skimming through the comments, I thought you were asking him to do this "Name Origin" video with Ben 10 aliens. What could be the meaning of Way Big or Four Arms, I began to wonder.
Design origins for ben 10 aliens could be cool as well, I reckon there could be some interesting stuff beneath the surface, like how way big is a clear ultraman reference
@@ariefdee6800 Yes they do. That would actually be worth doing I suppose. The two I mentioned are called To'kustars(Tokusatsu, since he is based on Ultraman, and Star because they are born and live in nebulae of some kind in space) and then Tetramands(Fancy way to say four arms lol).
yyayy nexomon! thats one of my favorite lore wise! thats the perfect game for some lore videos for you (also molga being so simple is because its litteraly the mascot of one of the companies that developed it, so it is just a dog)
16:57 I think -icide, part comes more from pesticide or insecticide since both a scare crow and those chemical share the act of guarding plants / deterring harmful pests and birds. but homicide still works considering the ghostly nature and stories of possessed scarecrows. :)

I reallllyyy hope this brings a ton of attention to nexomon, seriously has been one of my favorite games (ever) after playing it. A lot of the names are pretty straight forward and I feel it'd be better with some slight game changes (moves nexomon learn and how many there are) but it's got comedy, a great plot that brought out the "childhood pokemon me", and it feels more difficult than pokemon. It's still mostly just use the supereffective moves and type match ups, but health and damage is rough on top of the catching mechanics being much more involving than pokemon. A true masterpiece.
@@AlexThat200 the game is open world. I started a month ago and went to all regions without doing the main quests The way it works is that every time you advance on the story, the world levels up and gets harder So if you fly through, you will get in trouble And if you just don't do the main quest, you'll find almost everything in low levels You need to balance your story and exploration
14:14 it's Stalagmite. Since it's grounded. Also I learned this during a cave tour and I thought you might find it useful. It's how to tell the differences between Stalagmite and Stalactite. Ponic. Pony and Panic, which is fitting for the other two evolutions being "Giddeyelp" as in Giddeyup! and Yelp, a sound made when one is panicking, and Centeror being Centaur and Terror. If you feel 'terror', you may let out a 'yelp' out of 'panic'... Pretty sweet.

I can correctly assume that most of your subscribers are Pokemon nerds like you. Your channel has become the go to, for me at least, regarding anything to do with Pokemon.
Congrats on 1 mill !! Also I would be tempted to do a just in my opinion, fixing Nexomon Series where I'd take every nexomon and for 3 stages esentially add s final X stage which esentially acts as a form which is most deserved and actually is different enough and adding to all to make up to this and adding 2 & 3 stage, I'd honestly much rather see this done and added to a third game with every nexomondone this way over having new nexomon and if the Devs are smart they will take critisism and do that
Nice! Would like to see a video about the type chart too and how each type interaction is the way it is, because it can definitely be a bit confusing, especially for those that have primarily played Pokémon. Also, hyped for whatever “The Abyssals” are going to do in an upcoming update/free DLC (the roadmap did mention a free DLC and those might be it). I’ve never been more hyped to see skeletons not be where they’re supposed to before
For Omnisun one should also know the context of it's predecessor, the first King of Monsters, as Omnisun is the grand*son* of *Omni*cron. I think one of the reasons there are so many three-stage lines in these games is for progress balancing. A lot of two-stage mons in Pokemon end up evolving either too late and struggle for a long time before becoming relevant, or evolve too early and clean house until your other three-stage mons catch up, or they evolve at a good time because they just end up with worse stats overall compared to three-stage mons, so they struggle late-game with no hope of becoming relevant again.

16:26 - the final evolution in this line is also derived from *"Vainglory"*: One of the original "deadly sins" alongside Melancholy & Acedia, until they were changed into the sin of Sloth (Melancholy + Acedia) and Vainglory was absorbed into the existing sin of Pride. Vainglory is now more commonly known as *"Vanity"*; the behaviour of someone who is self-absorbed and narcissistic, often to the point of believing they can do no wrong. (It makes sense why they just said it was Pride but I like the fact that it specifically means *"Pride in one's own image."*)
Sami people aren't ancient Finns, they're an indigenous group of people living in the northern parts of Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Russia. They're very much still alive and around.
Short thing: Rustung could come from german "Rüstung" which is body armor or just armor. Like plate armor worn by knights. Also Foxdra could be, well, fox and tundra like an ice tundra where a polar fox would live. Nice video Dude!
22:50 I'm French and I don't know what word he is referring to. Since he says it’s similar to "go", then it could be "go" (which is pronounced the same) that is used as a starting signal. But there's no connection with the name tho. If you see something.
Genuine question: Why are three stage evolutions a bad thing, or at least having too many of them? I love Pokémon with three stages and I would love if more two stage lines got a third form. I get that you don't want every mon to have three forms for the sake of variety, but other than that I really can't think of a downside.
Sometimes three stage evolutions have a middle stage that unnecessarily bridges the first and third stages, which makes the middle stage look too much like the others, which makes the whole line look too similar to each other. Either that, or the final stage look overdesigned, and the second stage could work just fine as the final one.
You mention how it falls into the trap of needless three-stage evolutions, but I think it also falls for the typical Monster Collection trope of 'just a bunch of four-legged creatures.' And a lot of them are just weird things that hardly even based on anything. Four legs just feels like 'oh well we need to add more to this design let's make it a quadruped' a lot of the time.
yeah ii thought so too. a lot of the bird designs were actually really interesting, but personally ii get a little creeped out when a monster tamer game has so many... humanoid creatures. Like, okay they take from mermaids or whatever, but a couple could easily just look like people dressed up.. -_-"
some name references you missed that no one's mentioned yet: - Scailla could reference Scylla, a giant sea monster in Greek myth - Seedkorsky is seed + Sikorsky, a helicopter manufacturing company - Orologikus is likely a reference to horologium, Latin for "pendulum clock" - Fainglori can be a pun on "vain glory", meaning obsessive pride in oneself - Mimorus can be a pun on mime + humorous? - Ripha's name is pretty neat since it starts with "RIP" (Rest in Peace) - Hydrose can also be from -nose since it shoots water out of its nose - Dinga = Dingo (?) - Raksuma is probably also from rakshasa/raksasa, a type of giant man eating demon in Hinduism - Volta is literally just the last name of Alessandro Volta (the inventor of chemical batteries and where all our words relating to "volt" come from) lmao - i wonder how many people playing Nexomon named their Ziegler "Maddie" overall Nexomon designs are pretty cool! a lot of them feel way too samey, though...
Some other things i thought of while watching! Eqoloptera - the scientific order for bats is Chiroptera, probably references that rather than pterodactyl. Malitress - tress also references hair! Like tresses of hair. Pongo - perhaps a bongo? an orange ungulate Lunabelle - belle perhaps also meaning beautiful. Gradrow - perhaps also has 'grab' in there... because uh.. hands Flotter - otter might play a role since they seem to be a generic mustelid evo line
I'm glad to see this series continue I suggested this on the tem tem video but if you want to do a video on another game I would suggest spectrobes to check out
I have a feeling he'd go full-on insane. Digimon and its evolutions is quite weird, which makes it quite fun, but seriously confusing. But ngl i totally agree
I have played Nexomon on my phone a few years ago and now that I found out that there is a game available for Switch as well I bought it. Can't wait to play it once I have the time.
“Moska” also sounds like “mosca” fly in spanish Chaparral in Spanish chaparra is for small women ( its more of an urban word ) I don’t think that was intended XD
Worb and Sunknight are honestly perfect examples of how you do "simple" -mon-style names. Worb is just fun to say, and Sunknight is straight to the point, but that point is solid and still leaves some wonder to the name, since it not a literal description of the -mon and slightly abstracts it.
i gotta say, that's a really cool and interesting video... i rarely watch videos with more than 10 minutes, but this one got me hooked from start to finish!

3 aspects stood out to me as bothersome as they seem unintentional rather than by choice;
Overly detailed,
humanoid,
same size/structure just bulkier.
Seeing and capturing the Nexomon increases your odds of getting shinies in the game
@Proletarichad Yeah, it's cool to have diversity.

I LOVE THIS IDEA.
Design origins for ben 10 aliens could be cool as well, I reckon there could be some interesting stuff beneath the surface, like how way big is a clear ultraman reference
@@xXthevenomousXx If I remember correctly, didn't the Ben 10 aliens also have species names other than the names Ben gave them?
@@ariefdee6800 Yes they do. That would actually be worth doing I suppose. The two I mentioned are called To'kustars(Tokusatsu, since he is based on Ultraman, and Star because they are born and live in nebulae of some kind in space) and then Tetramands(Fancy way to say four arms lol).
I’ve literally never heard of this game until now and 1 minute in I already love the design
It’s a really good game that you’ll really enjoy if you play it with an open mind
The way the nexomon designers treat (nearly) every mon as a legendary makes (nearly) all of their designs amazing

Fun fact Rüstung is the german word for armor. I believe the name also comes from there.
Wouldn't Roclas be more Atlas than Heracles? I mean, he's even doing the Atlas Earth holding pose!
yyayy nexomon! thats one of my favorite lore wise! thats the perfect game for some lore videos for you (also molga being so simple is because its litteraly the mascot of one of the companies that developed it, so it is just a dog)
Moga The Pomeranian at least that is what the special thanks section says about the office dog.
@@Isaac-ze4fl yes exacly that
After playing the entirety of Nexomon Extinction I've only realised today that Moonline is a Oneshot reference.
Well boys we did it. We supported a small creator all the way to 1mil
16:57 I think -icide, part comes more from pesticide or insecticide since both a scare crow and those chemical share the act of guarding plants / deterring harmful pests and birds.
but homicide still works considering the ghostly nature and stories of possessed scarecrows. :)
Pretty sure that the ptera in Eqoloptera isnt "ptera" for pterasaur.
Its "optera" short for "Chiroptera", the Order that bats belongs to.
Lockstin diving into Nexomon is one of the best surprises ever. It's a really good Pokeclone series that needs more exposure.
It's a "Pokelike". Best to use "Pokeclone" for rom hacks
Dude! Did you see that you hit 1 million sub!
He just announced on twitter. It's so cool!
6:20 I love how the angry head in the middle stage is mad that he’s the small one. But when it evolves into shroomboff, it’s the angry one that’s larger and the happy head doesn’t even care.
Body hair trimmers with dog legs are now permanently haunting my dreams, thanks lockstin.
Never heard of nexomon but they look cool sooo..
Also I am so excited for Tofrug to be delivered-
Extinction is a great game if you’re looking to play something till the next Pokémon games come out I highly recommend it
as an old pokemon fan, I also recommend Nexomon Extinction
Just make sure you understand how the level scaling works before flying through the story
@@arthurheine5631
Care to elaborate on that to someone that might be interested in getting it?
@@AlexThat200 the game is open world. I started a month ago and went to all regions without doing the main quests
The way it works is that every time you advance on the story, the world levels up and gets harder
So if you fly through, you will get in trouble
And if you just don't do the main quest, you'll find almost everything in low levels
You need to balance your story and exploration

Sounds annoying, but I suppose I’ll my way around it.
14:14 it's Stalagmite. Since it's grounded. Also I learned this during a cave tour and I thought you might find it useful. It's how to tell the differences between Stalagmite and Stalactite.
Stalagmites: they form from the ground so you Might trip on then.
Stalactite. They form on the ceiling and they hang Tightly to it.
I hope this helps with differentiating these.
Those "dread" ones were literally dream catchers.
Fun fact at the end credits they added "Special Thanks to Moga the Pomeranian" so they put the team's little mascot as a teammate you can have
I don’t know if anyone has said it but congratulations on reaching one million subscribers lock. You truly deserve it for your passion about Pokemon. I remember the time I was introduced to your channel. A friend of mine had sent me a video of your Pokémon reset theory when you first did it. I remember reading the title and was like “what the heck is this guy thinking saying that? I hope he can back up that statement.” And back up your did. Congratulations lock.
I’ve never been more hyped to see skeletons not be where they’re supposed to before
Okay can we just acknowledge how long the Lockstin stills legs are. Like this still could be put on Vogue or something cuz God those legs are long
For Omnisun one should also know the context of it's predecessor, the first King of Monsters, as Omnisun is the grand*son* of *Omni*cron.
I would suggest Yo-Kai Watch for the next one of these... if it would be seen.
Especially the Japanese names!

StalaCtite - on the Ceiling

First of all Great vid second of all love the new autro and third congratulations on 1 million! I hope you and the rest do team gnogin have fun celebrating
15:17 Actually comes from Horologium, which is a constellation that depicts a clock.
It's Latin for clock
16:26 - the final evolution in this line is also derived from *"Vainglory"*:
One of the original "deadly sins" alongside Melancholy & Acedia, until they were changed into the sin of Sloth (Melancholy + Acedia) and Vainglory was absorbed into the existing sin of Pride.
Roclas also a reference to Atlas with the world on his back.
16:25 Roclas would probably be Rock and Atlas, because he's carrying the boulder
i feel like in these etymology videos you should show the component words alongside their composite name.
16:24 I would say that "Atlas" is part of the name aswell, which is a reference to the pose
Congrats on 1 million subs. I'm so glad you guys finally made it. Been looking at the number for a while.
18:00 Rustung could possibly also be from the german word "Rüstung" wich means "Armor"
I AM SO HAPPY NEXOMON IS GETTING SOME LOVE!! Honestly those games are so criminally underrated
12:59 Moga actually is really straight forward the name of the dog that was present in production, i think it was a crème colored Pomeranian.
I can certainly say that’s among the strangest clips for that sponsor I’ve seen
I’m sorry to bother, but I think your forgot Lumefur’s evo, Lumerai. Great vid btw! Got me back into the game!
some name references you missed that no one's mentioned yet:
- Scailla could reference Scylla, a giant sea monster in Greek myth
- Seedkorsky is seed + Sikorsky, a helicopter manufacturing company
- Orologikus is likely a reference to horologium, Latin for "pendulum clock"
- Fainglori can be a pun on "vain glory", meaning obsessive pride in oneself
- Mimorus can be a pun on mime + humorous?
- Ripha's name is pretty neat since it starts with "RIP" (Rest in Peace)
- Hydrose can also be from -nose since it shoots water out of its nose
- Dinga = Dingo (?)
- Raksuma is probably also from rakshasa/raksasa, a type of giant man eating demon in Hinduism
- Volta is literally just the last name of Alessandro Volta (the inventor of chemical batteries and where all our words relating to "volt" come from) lmao
- i wonder how many people playing Nexomon named their Ziegler "Maddie"
overall Nexomon designs are pretty cool! a lot of them feel way too samey, though...
Lockstin, can we talk about your ads? I don't have balls and I'm sold!
Some other things i thought of while watching!
Eqoloptera - the scientific order for bats is Chiroptera, probably references that rather than pterodactyl.
Malitress - tress also references hair! Like tresses of hair.
Pongo - perhaps a bongo? an orange ungulate
Lunabelle - belle perhaps also meaning beautiful.
Gradrow - perhaps also has 'grab' in there... because uh.. hands
Flotter - otter might play a role since they seem to be a generic mustelid evo line
I'm glad to see this series continue I suggested this on the tem tem video but if you want to do a video on another game I would suggest spectrobes to check out
I saw this video and started playing nexomon, it's fun! Thank you

16:24 Oh c'mon Lockstin, that's clearly Rock and Atlas.
You should do a digimon series. There's over 1300 digimon, so i bet you could get a lot of content out of them! >:]
Could you please do this with yokai or Digimon? I know there's a lot of them so you only need to do it for one game/season of the series
I like how Kromicide has homicide in its name because a group of crows is called a murder and a homicide is also a murder
“Moska” also sounds like “mosca” fly in spanish

38:03 Mulcimer.
not gonna lie, the amount of 3 stage evo's annoyed me more than i thought it would
Worb and Sunknight are honestly perfect examples of how you do "simple" -mon-style names. Worb is just fun to say, and Sunknight is straight to the point, but that point is solid and still leaves some wonder to the name, since it not a literal description of the -mon and slightly abstracts it.
Lockstin talking about Ripha: With a fun accent!
Me: Sees the fact that ripha as the al*pha* symbol on it's eye
I'm thinking about getting the Nexomon games next month, so this helped out a lot with figuring out which ones I really want to catch!
He's just gonna remind us of gostse and we're all just okay with that
i gotta say, that's a really cool and interesting video... i rarely watch videos with more than 10 minutes, but this one got me hooked from start to finish!
Roclas was most likely a reference to "Atlas" the man who holds up the world, considering the stance. It's really not that hard to understand
I believe that at 15:27 Orologikus' name is also inspired from the French word "horloge" meaning "clock" in English
“Your balls will thank you.”
Considering how Roclas is holding the rock it is more likely Atlas the titan that holds up the sky whose modern statues often show it holding the world
As a native Spanish speaker, I cannot think of a single word where "-illa" refers to something unexpectedly bigger 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
