Thanks, an interesting comparison. Since you recorded the track I would have found it interesting to have the results to be compared to the original stems. But even then this technology is akin to magic.
Very interesting comparison. What has amazed me about the Specralayers 10 pro is that it is a step change from version 9. The upgrade price was not too high, at about £68. I’ve used spectralayers for years and always end up processing some very old noisy band recordings. Each version is better, time to get unmixing again…
HAving messed around with SL utilizing the trial periods (no spare dough for SL license atm) it is AMAZING just how big a jump in quality and power SL made between versions 7, and 8, 8 and 9, and ESPECIALLY between 9 and 10!
Thanks for the comparison - You should do a comparison of spectraLayers 10 vs RipX, because RipX is better than Lalal, I also have to mention that a separation is not the only key for measuring the quality, but also the Punch, Reverb, Artifacts and Sound quality, for example, Moises has a very bad sound quality at the end result.
I am also impressed from SL10 and will upgrade my SL8. I was unsatisfied with the unmix-quality, why I used Lalai. But now, SL10 will do a great job too.
I have been unmixing as Steinberg call it for years using Izotope unbalance and generally happy with what it could do. However after I did a similar comparison with SpectraLayers I had to admit it was better unmixing drums and bass and by some way !! Vocals and instruments were on the whole similar but drums was the killer cos I then import it into Superior Drummer where I can convert to midi and add what ever drum kit I want, same for EZbass so the quality of the unmix layer for me is the decider and SperctraLayers wins, well done Steinberg
Gracias por la comparación Todo es un aprendizaje. En mi opinión Spectral Layers suena más nítido y además tiene otras multiples funciones (que no tienen que ver con la música) que no tiene lo otros programas
When I checked LALAL.AI against an older version of SpectraLayers (V8), LALAL.AI sounded noticeably cleaner so the new separation algorithms in SL10 really have leveled up
FL studio doesn't have ARA2 support yet but you can open it as an external editor: download.steinberg.net/downloads_software/SpectraLayers_10/help/Pro/_image_line_fl_studio.html
@@rldivide Agree with you completly as I have tried and used RipX / Lalala AI and other so called software tools wether online webtools and or free software tools and or tools one has to pay used for the purpose of separate into different stems and so on and so forth & NON of them can come up with same GREAT QUALITY and best unmixing algorithms than SPECTRA LAYERS and also the EASY to use within a DAW and so on and so forth ;-)
Elements lacks certain selection features like selecting harmonics, similar sounds, transients and lacks the full unmix capabilities (can only unmix vocals). This here gives you the best comparison between the two: www.steinberg.net/spectralayers/compare-editions/
I did a quick check on Acon digital remix functionality in Acoustica with the same audio file, SL10 sounded better on every conceivable level at this current time
Yikes, that "vocal" sounds like it's an AI simulated human voice it's so pitch corrected and robotic first off. The "bass" separation on both is pretty sad, sounds like a walrus's stomach gurgling wrapped in a paper bag, Lol. I was hoping this tech had made better strides by now. This was quick and not to deep but quite helpful in my quest to know better about stem extraction/unmixing songs, Thanks
No. Do an A/B with a complex example on demucs vs SpectraLayers 10. You'll see that SpectraLayers goes more in details to extract those complex piano and guitar parts.
> *These extraction Ai are useless and inaccurate* Do you mean sites like LAL, or are you roping in things like SpectraLayers? (perhaps a very silly question...)
Logic Pro supports ARA2 but it looks like spectralayers doesn't support Logic according to the manual 😖: download.steinberg.net/downloads_software/SpectraLayers_10/help/Pro/_ara2_plugin.html
It does look like you can open it as an external editor via Logic pro though download.steinberg.net/downloads_software/SpectraLayers_10/help/Pro/_apple_logic_pro.html

Dude...thank you for saving me the Lalal money. Cause this was the first thing I wanna do when I get my SPL 10.
Great informative video, I didn't know spectral layers could do this. I don't really use it, but I will now. Thanks 👍🏽
Happy to help!
Thanks, an interesting comparison. Since you recorded the track I would have found it interesting to have the results to be compared to the original stems. But even then this technology is akin to magic.
That's an excellent point to compare with the original stems! It would have made it clear that both tools still have room for improvement.

Spectra layer is better ❤
Thanx for a really good comparison!

I also upgraded from 8, definitely worth it for me!
I use UVR5, it's free and was recommended by a producer, not sure how it compares but I'm happy with the results so might be worth a check.
There's so many to look into! Might need a part 2...
I continue to do comparisons between SL and LALA every time I demix a song, and I get a cleaner vocal with LAL every time.
With the genres I work with, SL does a better job but both tools are still constantly improving
SL10 is now much better than iZotope RX. I have both tested.
I have been unmixing as Steinberg call it for years using Izotope unbalance and generally happy with what it could do. Wow....SPL 10 is so f*cking clean. Amazing!

very good, thank you!
spectralayers is the winner by a mile

very good video my friend , i have question : is SPL 10 work only in cubase ? (i'm using fl studio)

for me the best web for stems separation is Moises maybe there the results are more similar :)

I tried Spectral 10, but I have to say that RipX is the best in doing this kind of job yet.

Do an A/B comparison between SpectraLayers 10 and RipX. SpectraLayers 10 has the best unmixing algorithm.

Which is the best for piano stem extraction from music?
Probably between RipX and SpectraLayers
Hey bro whats the difference between the elements version and the full version?
Elements lacks certain selection features like selecting harmonics, similar sounds, transients and lacks the full unmix capabilities (can only unmix vocals). This here gives you the best comparison between the two: www.steinberg.net/spectralayers/compare-editions/
SpectraLayers 10 clearly is more accurate
It's definitely improved from SpectraLayers 9

Lalal is a joke. But I think they pay youtubers to hype it.
Definitely had a lot of hype but it soundly beat previous versions of SpectraLayers

These extraction Ai are useless and inaccurate
The extraction AIs may never be 100% accurate but I've found some use for them.
