    CPS blew it. They should have offered the mother individualized parenting education so that she could better understand how to protect her children. Instead, they wait until the last minute? When the father is ready for the kids to go home? Moving the goalpost like that is not appropriate. This is a perfect example of why clients do not trust CPS.

      I don't understand how someone needs parenting classes to know you have to keep a decently clean home and have food for your kids. If someone is that drug addled or intellectually disabled that they can't figure that out then they shouldn't have their children. I think a 12 year old could do better than some of these parents. The father may be a good parent but mom seems way way out there and just has zero understanding of what's expected. I wouldn't want her left alone with the kids.

      Yes as someone in the field, these dcbs people are absolutely on a power trip finding any reason they can. You are allowed to not have a license. You are also allowed to have the dad change diapers instead of mom. You are allowed to be a parent even if you are developmentally delayed. As long as it gets done (and it seems like everything except keeping the house tidy was being done just fine). Also, they said there was “no food” in the house but they receive a relatively low amount of money in SNAP, meaning dad likely made enough money for food. Maybe they liked to eat out or he could bring food home from work each night. Even if they didn’t have a lot of food, they weren’t spending it on drugs bc they came back clean. That is family in need of additional resources not having their kids ripped from them.

      My husband who is an asylee in a Scandinavian country lost his driver’s license for a year, after getting 2 or 3 speeding tickets. He has sole custody of 3 yr old twins and not being allowed to drive is a massive PITA, but guess what? He uses public transport to get to work, and he’d call the 911 equivalent if he had an emergency. It’s not that earth shattering.

    My sister had all 7 of her kids taken for 18 months. We went to court every time she did what they asked of her and her husband and for 18 months they had them in foster care that was horrible. They told her the only way for her to get her kids back was to divorce her husband and she did. They still played around with her and those kids. For some reason the judge was changed out and he got angry as the CPS could not answer one simple question… why where her kids removed in the first place. He turned to my sister and said the state owes you a huge apology and I am deeply sorry that you and your kids had to go through this and he ordered the kids to be returned immediately. They kids have never been the same and she was scared to even punish them after that.

      I've supervised visits before and I have seen mothers not engaged with the children. As a worker, it's their job to report all concerns and interactions with the children. Maybe the mother is nervous being supervised, but when you barely get to see your children there should be some interactions regardless of who is there. The agency is wrong to wait so long to report this. The other worker should have also counseled the mother during any incidents, promote engagement and access with mom what barriers does she believe she has regarding interacting with the children. I had a mother with mental health issues that was just genuinely afraid that she would hurt her baby just by holding her.

      I've seen it many times. I work with a nonprofit similar to PAT. We're a home visitation program that provides parenting education and support. I had a single mom with a small support group and some cognitive delays due to childhood trauma. Mom had a part-time job, received every state benefit possible, utilized public transportation, and took the baby to all pediatric visits and to every free activity offered in town. Mom was also a civil rights activist who spoke out against CPS and other government agencies. CPS took her baby, at 10 p.m. alleging neglect. CPS said since mom didn't have a large support group she may not know how to parent baby as she gets older. They said with her cognitive delays she may not know how to figure out how to care for baby as she ages! They grasped at every straw they could find but the judge said it was ludicrous and returned the baby.

Don’t ever feel bad for forgetting a diaper bag. Us moms have plenty on our brain. And it may go blank for some moments .. that’s part of having a growing baby in your stomach, and giving birth. You are an amazing mama. Don’t ever let anyone tell you different. There is no book on how to parent or how to become a parent. She is young and she has a lot to learn. Children do not come with a handbook so she will learn as she goes. She can go to class to learn the basic needs of infants and children. The one thing that goes in to her favor is that both parents are working full time. If they need help to maintain a good environment for the child then they should get it. If they need the government to help with childcare, food, housing, and medical then they have every right to those programs… they work and pay taxes.

Do you know how much it cost for driving school ? Do you know you would need to have ins if you buy a car ? I was screaming at the screen. Things that no parent who is not under CPS scrutiny would ever be questioned about. They were harrassing dad at one point. By end of hearing, CW stated that she could not say that kids would be at risk if returned. Judge stated that dad not having D L would put kids at risk if there was an emergency !!! I was fllored and so disappointed in this Judge's (who I usually like) decision to not return kids because no D L .

Is that considered a removable offense for cps now? Food understandable, but at the same time, why are they advocating having a fridge full of perishable food for the kids when they aren't present? It makes absolutely no sense. You can tell this is all about the bonus the cps worker receives for keeping the kids away from the parents long enough to strip parental rights.

    I believe the mother may be a bit delayed, but that's something that can be worked on. I've worked with life skills children for 20 years, and they can certainly be taught to be independent and responsible. She can absolutely be taught to be proactive. My children are grown now, but I can't count how many times my husband and I joined in play time with our children. I still find myself calling him Daddy when one of them are with us. It's not weird or creepy! Return the children, and temporarily don't allow the mother to be alone with the children.

    In the past I have advocated against many parents getting their kids back. After watching many of these proceedings I have done a complete 180. It is so obvious they have little intention of EVER returning these kids to the mother. Who are they to play God? Why did they take them in the first place? So the mother isn’t the brightest bulb in the pack - that is no reason to deny her custody of her children. How did these CPS and CASA workers’ children turn out? We’re they perfect parents? Did their children ever get hurt? This is an outrageous case!! That BRADLM2 is a mean spiteful women. I am so glad I never had anything to do with these people. • @smartypants8533
    @smartypants8533 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    This irritates me. Normally, mom's do most of the work, but cps says nothing about dads who don't change diapers. Cps doesn't care if the father has a bond with the children, but if mom doesn't, it's a problem, and the kids need to be somewhere else. This case they are literally grasping at straws to keep these people's children from them. Oh, because the roles are reversed, and dad does the majority of the work, it's a reason to withhold the children. Not having a kitchen table, jobs, and drivers licenses and having marks on their walls are legitimate reasons to withhold children from their parents. There are tons of households without those things, and cps isn't attempting to terminate parental rights in every one of those homes. They've done and completed every single thing that was asked of them for a year, and yet it's not enough. They literally said they continued withholding because of a kitchen table and food stamps the last time. Now, even that's not good enough. Seems like they are trying to run out the clock to strip their rights.

    • @dellahicks7231
      @dellahicks7231 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @smartypants, While I would usually agree with you where gender bias is concerned, in this case there is more going on than mom perhaps not bonding, and father changing diapers and cooking meals. By her affect and her actions, she appears to have cognitive issues, and that is of great concern.
      That is why the father is answering questions directed toward her, I don't think it's a case of not loving her children, I think she simply is not mentally capable of being left alone with her children.

    • @smartypants8533
      @smartypants8533 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @dellahicks7231 which the worker states he's capable of intervening and did so. He and her mom/his mom are willing to make sure she's completely supervised with the kids. They don't want him or her to have custody. The judge basically said hey either dump and kick out the mother of your children because she's slow or we keep your kids. But hey, here are some services we can offer that will be impossible to use without your children in order to get your kids back.

    • @dellahicks7231
      @dellahicks7231 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @smartypants8533 But there is no way of guaranteeing that either can be there 24/7. We were not told how old grandma is, how mobile she is, is she still working herself? For some reason it was taken at face value she can pop over whenever.
      I am not advocating he leave his wife, it is unfortunate that he didn't consider a situation like this arising, but she is going to need a lot of outside supervision. It is always going to be the instinct of the partner to protect the other, so the father isn't going to bring cares to the attention of CPS if his wife is falling short, and that worries me for the children's safety.
